Evan Chu wanted to use that plain and unremarkable sword technique—the 'Dog-Slayer Slash' he'd used to kill the black-clad assassin leader—against Harold Liu, but Luna, the Sword Spirit, stopped him.
Sword Spirit Luna told him Harold Liu’s strike was far too powerful—the rebound force could leave him gravely injured, maybe even dead. The only way out was to dodge, and to do it with the fastest speed possible.
Right now, Evan’s fastest technique was Shifting Position, but Luna told him it was nowhere near enough—Harold Liu’s sword, though it looked simple, actually covered every direction.
Within a ten-meter radius, Harold could attack at will—in other words, Evan had to dodge instantly to a spot more than ten meters away.
But Shifting Position only moved Evan five meters at a time. Even if he used it twice, that was just ten meters—he’d still be inside Harold’s attack range.
To get out safely, he’d have to use Shifting Position three times in a row—no pauses, no breaks in between.
Even using it twice was already Evan’s limit; three times was basically impossible, and he had no idea how much stellar force it would take.
People always unlock their greatest potential when facing danger or death—and right now, Evan was staring straight at that kind of threat.
Stellar force and Chaos Qi in his body started surging wildly. He was gambling—betting he could pull it off. When Harold Liu’s sword-shadow was just a meter away, Evan left only an afterimage behind and dodged out of the way.
He moved so fast that even Harold Liu was shocked. Harold felt like his sword had already struck Evan—but there was no impact at all, as if he’d hit thin air. He realized he’d only cut through Evan’s afterimage.
"Such speed! How did this kid pull that off? Even I couldn't reach that speed—it's simply unbelievable!" After his sword struck only air, Harold Liu was left utterly shocked.
Evan Chu was gambling—staking everything on the hope that he could succeed in that split second between life and death. It was risky, but his confidence came from Luna, the Sword Spirit.
As long as Luna, the Sword Spirit, didn't warn of danger, then there truly was none. Her soul was bound to his, and with her cultivation and insight, she understood his situation perfectly.
When Evan stopped moving, he was already more than ten meters away from Harold Liu, but his face was ghostly pale—clearly from the massive energy drain.
"I never thought using Shifting Position consecutively would burn so much stellar force—it used up at least three layers, even more than the initial burst. I’ll have to use it sparingly from now on."
Evan's movement technique naturally couldn't escape the notice of the experts present. Ox-Head and Horse-Face were watching intently.
Though both were fighting the Lu Clan Twin Heroes, the difference in strength made things easy for them. Both sides were hired help, with no deep grudges, so it wasn’t a battle to the death.
Even so, the Lu Clan Twin Heroes were barely hanging on.
"Old Ma, did you see that kid’s movement technique just now? I’m sure it’s at least Profound-tier. If you and I mastered that technique, imagine what we could do," Ox-Head said.
"You saw it, so how could I miss it? Looks like we came to the right place today. Compared to what Harold Liu gave us, whatever that kid has is worth at least ten times more!" Horse-Face replied.
