Chapter 522: The End
He truly felt he was innocent...
It was clearly the young mage's string of outbursts that wounded and enraged the Lava Baron, yet now he was the one left to face the baron's fury.
There was no helping it—the Lava Baron's roar alone made it clear just how furious he was. But the true culprit, the young mage, had long since fled the battlefield.
But the Lava Baron would not let it go so easily...
Without a doubt, at this moment Councilor Suville had become the Lava Baron's sole target for venting his wrath. Flames soared, endless demonic energy surged toward Councilor Suville like a tide, magma splashed, and blazing fire erupted—an inferno straight out of hell. Even as a seventh-rank titled Magus, Councilor Suville was utterly battered; after dodging attack after attack, his strength had dwindled to its limit...
However, he soon realized that after enduring the young mage's storm-like assault, the Lava Baron had also suffered serious injuries—his power had dropped noticeably. Otherwise, if the baron had been at full strength, Councilor Suville would never have survived so easily.
This realization brought him a slight sense of relief...
But the young mage's actions were truly despicable. It was one thing for him to watch from the sidelines and refuse to help at first; but now, even after joining forces to fight the Lava Baron, he still harbored ill intentions and had ruthlessly set Councilor Suville up.
Luckily, the Lava Baron wasn't at his peak...
Otherwise, as a Black Tower Councilor, I could very well get screwed over by this young mage...
The more Councilor Suville thought about it, the more pissed off he got—he almost wanted to curse out loud. But in the end, he held it in. Damn it, he needed the young mage's power to deal with the Lava Baron. If he pissed off the kid at a time like this, he'd be totally screwed.
After all, he didn't have that freakish speed the young mage had—he couldn't just slip out of the battlefield whenever he wanted.
Soon enough, the young mage—wreathed in roaring flames—appeared again in Councilor Suville's line of sight, launching a ferocious assault on the Lava Baron. Spells exploded through the air, dazzling and wild; each powerful incantation blasted across the baron's massive frame, sending magma spraying everywhere...
Seeing this, Councilor Suville finally let himself relax. The spell in his hand blazed with radiant light as he chanted, shifted his gestures, and guided his magic, unleashing a steady, relentless barrage.
And so, the fierce spellcasting continued for more than ten minutes. Both of them were locked in a high-intensity duel—every spell unleashed was followed by the weaving of the next rune, again and again, a relentless cycle...
Thankfully, under such a barrage of magic, the two of them were finally gaining the upper hand.
The tension on Councilor Suville's face had already faded. With the keen judgment of a Title Archmage, how could he not see that the fight was already decided? Victory was just a matter of time.
Of course, that all depended on the young mage not screwing something up...
As that thought flashed through his mind, Suville instinctively turned toward the young mage—just one look, and his heart nearly stopped. The young mage's flames suddenly roared even higher, his body whipped around, and with a streak like a meteor, he shot out in a blazing afterimage.
