Two thousand applicants arrived at the Martial Arena Plaza of the estate.
The guard interviews were conducted by Bella Bai and Rosie Ning.
General servant interviews were handled by Muse and Winnie.
Maid interviews were overseen by Lena Wei and Shelly Song.
Even though the recruitment notice had spelled out the requirements clearly, plenty of underqualified hopefuls still showed up to apply.
So after the first round eliminated two hundred people, about eighteen hundred were left.
Next, the six examiners cut everyone they found disagreeable at a glance, leaving only around fifteen hundred.
Then, after removing six hundred native Immortals, just over nine hundred remained.
Ian Song’s whole point in recruiting was to pick out a batch to groom as his own subordinates, so of course he didn’t want any native Immortals. Whether those people minded or not was none of his concern!
Faye Moon and Jasmine Jiang both felt lucky to survive all three rounds of cuts.
In the end, two hundred were chosen as guards; eighty as general servants, and fifty as maids.
Only three of the selected guards were women—Faye Moon and Jasmine Jiang both made the cut, and both broke into smiles.
After the interviews, Lena Wei delivered a short speech: “My name is Lena Wei, one of the stewards of Chu Estate. From now on, you’re all part of our household. There’s only one requirement: loyalty. Now, follow me to meet the young master!”
Led by Lena Wei, all four hundred thirty recruits entered a garden.
Inside the garden was a pavilion, where Ian Song sat chatting with his women.
“Young master, the selection is complete—four hundred thirty people in total!”
Lena Wei stopped the crowd outside the garden, then went in herself to report.
“Let them all come in.”
Ian Song nodded.
