Battle Merits (Part One)

"Andrew Han."

"Can you drive any faster? This is a Red Flag LA, not some slow-moving bicycle."

Carter Yan's voice rose in complaint.

He sat in the passenger seat, his injuries still unhealed. His left arm was wrapped in layers of bandages, the scent of herbal medicine seeping through.

Their destination was the Provincial Formation Branch.

According to the information, the two of them needed to drive out of Greenfield City, heading southeast for two hundred kilometers to reach it.

This was the Provincial Formation Branch!

Despite his lingering injuries, Carter Yan was already impatient. If he were driving, they would have arrived long ago.

In the driver's seat.

"Ha." Andrew Han, dressed in a light blue short-sleeved shirt with his windbreaker tossed beside him, rested his right foot on the brake. He glanced at Carter Yan. "We're almost at one hundred fifty kilometers per hour. Isn't that fast enough?"

A speed of one hundred fifty kilometers per hour was blindingly fast.

On this highway, not a single other car could overtake Andrew Han. All were left far behind by the Red Flag LA, eventually vanishing from the rearview mirror.

"Not fast enough."

"Of course it's not enough."

Carter Yan curled his lip, sounding sullen: "That's discrimination! It's just a minor injury. Even at three hundred kilometers per hour, if we crashed, I'd walk away without a scratch. At your speed, I could run faster than this car."

Andrew Han pulled a wry smile at those words.

There were still bloodstains on that left arm bandage, and his tendons and bones had nearly ruptured. He wanted to crash the car? Was he out of his mind, trying to see what a real disaster looked like?

The Martial General Realm was indeed incomparably powerful.

But the most crucial point was the explosive circulation of Presented Liquid Internal Power! Without access to Presented Liquid Internal Power, a Martial General was still just flesh and blood with a sturdy body.

And right now—

Carter Yan's muscles and bones were all out of alignment, and he was still in recovery. He couldn't use his Internal Power at all; relying on just his physical condition, he might not even match an ordinary Martial Artist.

"Hmph."

"You don't believe me?" Carter Yan shot Andrew Han a sidelong glance.

"I believe you. Of course I do." Andrew Han replied earnestly, tapping a button on the steering wheel. With a soft click, the right side door gently swung open.

Whoosh, whoosh.

A fierce wind rushed in, widening the gap in the car door.

Buzz, buzz.

The scenery blurred past as the Red Flag LA finally began to accelerate.

"Go on, then."

Andrew Han looked sincerely ahead. "There are no cars in front or behind. You can get out and run for a while, then hop back in."

...

Carter Yan swallowed hard.

"What, you don't trust me?" Andrew Han glanced at Carter Yan's stiff expression, his tone serious. "Relax, I won't lock the door. You can run for a while and then get back in."

Gulp.

Carter Yan hesitated for a long moment before muttering, "It's too cold outside. I'd catch a chill."

"No problem. I have a jacket."

Andrew Han handed over his thick, black windbreaker.

At that, Carter Yan's face turned completely dark. He shut the door and sat silently in the passenger seat.

Headache!

He was still injured, after all. Shouldn't they cut him some slack?

......

Buzz, buzz.

The car continued down the road.

After quite a while, Andrew Han glanced at Carter Yan and finally asked with a smile, "So the structure of the martial arts world is really just the Martial Arts Alliance and the Martial Arts Sects?"

"No."

Carter Yan shook his head, speaking earnestly: "The martial arts world is just the Martial Arts Alliance. It's made up of those above the Martial Lord Realm and the Title-bearing Martial Lords, and it governs all of Sinovera."

Title-bearing Martial Lord?

Andrew Han narrowed his eyes, a hint of contemplation flashing across his face.

The three martial realms—Martial Artist, Martial General, and Martial Lord—cover a vast range, with lower, middle, and upper tiers, and even higher levels beyond. The difference in power is immense, yet all are considered Martial Lords.

And a Title-bearing Martial Lord is the absolute pinnacle of the Martial Lord Realm.

Beyond that, there are even more mysterious realms above the Martial Lord. But Andrew Han still knew nothing about those secrets.

On the other side—

Carter Yan continued explaining.

"What we call the martial arts world is really the Martial Arts Alliance—a vast and complex organization. Border Duty, Defense Duty, Guardian Duty—these three major responsibilities are the core essence of the martial arts world."

"But the Martial Arts Sects are just sects."

"Take me, for example. I'm a member of a Martial Arts Sect, but I'm also part of the martial arts world. Before joining the defense system, I fulfilled border duties many times."

He explained as he looked out the window.

Scenery sped by, the car windows spotless. Carter Yan let out a sigh: "Sect members, independent martial artists, and martial students together make up the martial arts world."

"But—"

"We sect members have the advantage."
