A Tiger That Doesn’t Roar Is Taken for a Sick Cat
Early the next morning, the Cloud Family estate was already decked out in festive decorations, lively and cheerful. Even inside his room, Evan Yang could hear the sounds from outside. At this moment, Evan sat on the bed deep in thought, then finally stood up and muttered, "Since they've come, I might as well go down. I wonder if Miss Cloud's 'cloud' power is real or not."
Ever since Evan Yang learned about Tina Cloud's internal cloud power and that Cloud's End Palace might help him recover, his mood had been complicated. Now, he had already gotten up—at worst, he'd just keep playing along; he could handle this much.
Both Evan's clone and true body were fully prepared, each busy in their own way. When the noon wedding arrived, Evan's clone put on formal attire and, escorted by guards, entered the main hall. Lynton Cloud had already changed clothes and was staring intently at Evan, as if silently entrusting everything to him.
As for Tina Cloud, dressed brightly in her own room, she looked around at the red decorations and muttered, "Damn it, just to avoid those people, I really sold myself. But this is fine, this picked-up guy's cultivation isn't high, so I can slowly train him. Once today's wedding is over, I'll leave."
Outside, the noise was already building up. Lynton Cloud sent Evan Yang a sound transmission: "Later, go to my daughter's room. I'm worried something might happen."
Evan Yang nodded. He didn't need Lynton Cloud to say it—his true body was already waiting outside Tina Cloud's room, ready in case anything went wrong.
Evan's clone stood with Lynton Cloud as the noon banquet began. Many people had come to pay their respects, taking their seats.
When the Song Family arrived with their group, Lynton Cloud stood expressionless, watching Patriarch Song enter.
"Patriarch Cloud, congratulations," Patriarch Song said with a smile, acting as if nothing had happened. Lynton Cloud, seeing that the other party said nothing else, replied, "Welcome, Patriarch Song."
"Then we won't be polite. You keep busy," Patriarch Song laughed, then led his people to find seats. Lynton Cloud never took his eyes off them. Just before the banquet started, a shadow in the wine cellar quickly poured colorless liquid into each wine jar, poisoning them all before slipping away.
The Cloud Family had no idea there was a traitor inside. Following custom, they brought up the wine, and everyone started drinking wildly. Naturally, some came forward to toast, and Patriarch Song was one of them. He smiled at Lynton Cloud and said, "Patriarch Cloud, this toast is for you. And to this young man—be sure to treat Miss Cloud well."
Evan Yang smiled, "I definitely will." Everyone drank, completely unaware of the problem in the wine.
But Evan's sensitive body, infused with Heaven-Cold qi, immediately sensed something was wrong inside him. "So the wine was tampered with."
Realizing the issue, he glanced around and saw that no one else noticed. This was a major problem—if something happened soon, it would be a disaster. After Patriarch Song left, Evan secretly sent Lynton Cloud a sound transmission: "Patriarch Cloud, it looks like something's wrong."
"What's wrong?" Lynton Cloud asked curiously.
"The wine is poisoned," Evan replied.
Lynton Cloud was shocked. If Evan was right, the Cloud Family would be blamed, and enemies would seize the chance. He didn't understand how the poison got in, so he quickly pulled Evan aside, "Are you sure it's poisoned?"
"Yes, I'm sure," Evan said.
After thinking it over, Lynton Cloud hurriedly told Evan, "Quick, find my daughter and take her away."
"But what if she won't listen to me?" Evan asked helplessly, thinking of the stubborn Tina Cloud.
"Here, this is my personal command token. Only a handful of people in the world have ever seen it. Once she sees this, she'll know the Cloud Family isn't safe, and you can quickly take her away," Lynton Cloud said.
"What about you?" Evan asked, frowning.
"I have my own ways. The Cloud Family is huge—it won't fall so easily. You hurry up and go. The farther you take my daughter, the better. If I get out safely, I'll contact you," Lynton Cloud replied.
Evan Yang knew the situation was urgent, so he nodded and headed straight for the bridal room.
Lynton Cloud knew he had to buy time, so he returned to the main hall and kept drinking with everyone, trying to figure out who had poisoned the wine.
Evan's clone barged straight into the bridal room. Tina Cloud, who had been scheming what to do next, was startled by his sudden entry. "You brat, coming in now? Who said you could?"
"There's no time to explain. Come on, let's leave the Cloud Family," Evan said.
"What did you say? Leave the Cloud Family? You think you can just come and go as you please? That's impossible. At least wait until today's ceremony is over, or else my dad will just send people to drag me back," Tina Cloud retorted.
"This time your dad won't drag you back. Hurry and come with me—if you wait, it'll be much harder to escape," Evan insisted.
"I'm not going. If you keep talking about leaving, I'll cripple you right now," Tina Cloud threatened. She wanted to leave, but only after this was settled, so no one would chase her again.
Seeing the stubborn Tina Cloud, Evan Yang took out the personal command token and said, "Patriarch Cloud asked me to take you away."
When Tina saw the token, she was shocked. This token only appeared when the family was in crisis; since childhood, she had been taught that if she ever saw it, she should leave the family and wait for the patriarch to find them.
Seeing Tina still stunned, Evan said, "Aren't you leaving? Otherwise, Patriarch Cloud will be angry."
"What exactly happened?" Tina asked Evan.
"I'll tell you after we leave," Evan replied.
"No, you have to tell me now," Tina insisted, but at that moment, loud noises erupted outside.
Hearing the commotion outside, Evan realized things were bad and quickly said, "No time, let's go." He grabbed Tina's hand, but her cultivation was higher than his, so she shook him off and rushed outside, seeing many family guards and wedding guests collapsed.
Tina was shocked, and Evan quickly said, "If we don't leave now, it'll be too late."
"No, I have to save my dad." Although she didn't know exactly what was happening, judging by the situation, something serious had happened to the Cloud Family, so Tina said.
Seeing Tina's expression, Evan knew she was filial, so he said, "If you want to know who attacked the Cloud Family, you have to leave first. Later, you can look for Patriarch Cloud. If you get captured too, the Cloud Family will truly be finished."
Evan's words woke Tina up. Seeing so many experts collapsed, she realized charging out now would be walking into a trap. From Evan's tone, it seemed he knew who was responsible. She said, "If anything happens to my dad, I'll cripple you."
"What does that have to do with me?" Evan said helplessly.
"It has everything to do with you. Come on," Tina said through gritted teeth, then led Evan out using her usual secret route. They ran until they reached a bamboo forest, where they were stopped by a Song Family man.
He smiled at Tina and said, "Junior sister, what's this? Running from your wedding?"
"Senior Brother Song? Why are you here?" Tina was shocked that the Song man knew she was here.
The Song man smiled and said, "I've known about your situation for a long time. You left a secret passage in the Cloud Family and often used it to sneak out. Patriarch Cloud just turned a blind eye, but that doesn't mean others did. I didn't expect you'd actually use it today."
"Are you saying the Cloud Family's trouble is your doing?" Tina asked angrily, hearing the Song man's tone.
"That's right. You're quick to catch on, but it's too late. Now most of the Cloud Family has been poisoned," the Song man said with a smile.
"Damn it, I'll kill you!" Tina said angrily and started fighting the Song man. The other Song guards blocked Evan, intending to attack him.
Evan shook his head helplessly. "Even though I'm weaker than an Earth-Immortal, my adaptability is far beyond what you people can match."
Evan's muttering made everyone burst out laughing, thinking he was just bragging—how could someone weaker than an Earth-Immortal boast so much? They laughed and mocked Evan, and Tina felt like kicking him.
"Kid, you'd better run. If you die, I'm not responsible," Tina said, knowing her situation and wanting Evan to escape.
It sounded like nonsense, since Evan was surrounded, but he was still gratified that Tina wanted him to escape when she was in danger.
"Stop him. If he gets away, I'll deal with you later," the Song man quickly ordered the guards to prevent Evan from escaping.
Evan smiled. "Don't come near me. I'm not responsible if anything happens to you. Don't blame me."
"Damn it, you really think we're afraid of an ant like you?" one guard shouted angrily and rushed at Evan—only to find Evan had disappeared.
Evan's sudden disappearance shocked everyone around—they thought he was too strange.
"I may not be able to beat you, but with invisibility, disguise, and formations, I can make you dizzy," Evan laughed to himself while hiding.
Tina was surprised to see Evan suddenly disappear. She never expected his abilities to be so strange—he vanished without anyone noticing.
"Stop staring blankly. He must have some kind of treasure. Everyone, search nearby," the Song man said in shock.
Everyone immediately spread out to search for Evan, trying to figure out where he disappeared and what treasure he used.
This gave Evan more time to set up some formations.
