Where Does the Strength Come From

12/2/2025

Today, Leonard Li came by, hoping to finally taste Lily Evans’s home-cooked meal. But Lucky informed him that his wife wasn’t feeling well—no cold water, no heavy work, and absolutely no cooking!

“It’s not every day Mr. Leonard visits. Let Belle wash the veggies, and I’ll just do the actual cooking,” Lily Evans muttered, trying to bargain with Lucky.

“No way!” Lucky’s eyes went wide. “Wife can’t overexert herself or step foot in the kitchen!”

With that, Lucky flashed Leonard Li a cheeky grin and clasped his hands. “Mr. Leonard, my wife needs rest. I’ll carry her back to the room now. Please make yourself at home! Belle, show our guest out!”

Lily didn’t even register that Lucky said he’d carry her—not just walk her—back to the room. The next thing she knew, the world spun, and she was in Lucky’s arms, swept away from the hall straight to their room.

“Lucky, aren’t you still hurt? You couldn’t even dress yourself and said everything aches! Where did you get the strength to carry me and run so fast?” Lily stared at him, eyes wide.

Lucky’s eyes darted, and with an exaggerated cry he flopped onto the bed: “Oww, wife, it hurts again! It hurts so much! My wound must’ve split open! If only my wife would kiss me, I’d heal faster!”

Lily was speechless. Did he really take her joke about kisses healing so seriously?

Lily pinned Lucky to the bed and began tugging at his clothes. Lucky lay there obediently, a sly grin at the corner of his mouth, hands folded behind his head, mumbling, “Wife, why are you undressing me in broad daylight?”

Lily gave him a gentle knock on the head and lectured, “You don’t just take off your clothes at night! I’m checking your wounds.”

Lucky watched with a smile as Lily peeled back his clothes. As soon as she tugged at his pants, something sprang out, making her jump. Their eyes met—hers wide, his mischievous. Lily’s heart skipped a beat under his gaze, but she feigned calm: “Just use a wet towel to wipe yourself.”

Lily gritted her teeth, lips twitching. What’s gotten into this man lately? He’s always ready for battle! He never used to be like this! Lucky wrapped his arms around Lily, pouting, “But what if I can’t reach my back, wife? Will you help me wipe it?”

She looked up; Lucky was still smiling innocently, gazing at her like he hadn’t noticed anything unusual at all.

Lily rolled her eyes, zipped up his pants, and started unwrapping the bandages on his body.

“Hey, how did your wounds heal so fast?” Lily exclaimed as she undid the bandages. His recovery was incredible—some wounds that had exposed bone were nearly healed, and the smaller ones were almost invisible.

Lily had expected Lucky’s injuries to take at least until after the New Year to heal, but in just half a month, he was almost recovered. His healing ability was truly amazing!

Lucky puffed out his chest and said, “It’s because my wife loves me! Remember what you said before? If I want to heal fast, I need to be happy. So I’ve been extra happy lately!”

Lily glared at him, but her heart warmed. "You’re such a sweet talker!" she said, unable to hide her smile.

Lucky grinned, then suddenly sat up and tugged Lily over. “Wife, can you help me bathe? I can’t reach my back!”

Lily’s cheeks flushed. “Why do you always come up with these excuses?”

Lucky leaned in, voice low and serious, “Wife, I really can’t reach my back!”

Belle finished tidying up outside, sent Leonard Li off, and then came in to help Lily with the chores.
