Where Does This Trust Come From

Felix Zeng shivered under his gaze and said, "His Majesty... His Majesty... is really sleeping. If you barge in, you'll disturb the imperial rest."

"General, let's head back. This is the Royal Palace, after all," Sophie Shang advised.

Then, she used Drake Transmission to say, "Things aren’t what you think."

Evan Xiao ignored them and asked Felix Zeng with a blank expression, "Is President Grace inside?"

"No! President Grace isn’t inside!" Felix Zeng replied firmly.

Just as he finished speaking, the inner chamber door creaked open, and Grace’s voice called out, "Felix Zeng, come in and help His Majesty bathe and change."

Felix Zeng: "..."

Palace Maid: "..."

...

As soon as Grace opened the door, she saw Evan Xiao.

He stood inside the room with Sophie Shang.

His gaze was fixed on the inner chamber, behind Grace.

His expression looked even worse than yesterday.

Grace turned to look and saw Henry Tuoba.

He was still shirtless, waiting for Felix Zeng to bring in the bath water.

Grace suddenly had a bad feeling.

Like this... could he be misunderstanding?

"General, what brings you here?" Henry Tuoba casually threw on a robe and came out to ask.

Evan Xiao saw three wounds on his chest and abdomen and asked, "What happened to the Emperor?"

"Winterbane Worm," Henry Tuoba said. "Fortunately, Grace arrived in time."

Evan Xiao glanced at Grace, who was wearing her Physician's Robe and covered in blood, but said nothing.

"General, what brings you to see me?" Henry Tuoba asked.

"Your Majesty did not attend morning court today. I was worried and came to check on you," Evan Xiao said.

"I'm already fine," Henry Tuoba said. "Later, I'll need Grace to visit the Empress Dowager with me. General, would you like to join?"

"No, thank you," Evan Xiao replied. "I’ll take my leave now."

Henry Tuoba nodded.

Evan Xiao left without looking back.

Sophie Shang glanced at Grace and Henry Tuoba, then followed him out.

Sigh! Grace let out a breath.

It wasn’t even healed yet, and now he’s even more jealous.

"What’s wrong?" Henry Tuoba asked.

"It's nothing... I was just wondering who put the Winterbane Worm in your bed."

"We’ll find out." Henry Tuoba’s whole body exuded a faint murderous aura.

"Huh? Why are my clothes here?" Grace noticed her clothes.

"I brought them over," one of the palace maids said. "When I was tidying the warm chamber, I found your clothes inside and brought them here."

Grace looked at her a few more times and nodded, "Thank you."

...

Grace left the palace and found the sky growing darker.

A storm is coming...

"There usually aren’t storms in spring," Grace muttered. "I don’t know what’s going on these past two days..."

She hurried to the General’s Manor as fast as she could.

Evan Xiao was at home, sitting at the tea table, making tea.

Grace walked over and sat down in front of him.

Evan Xiao continued to focus on making tea, never once looking up at her.

Ahem. Grace coughed, trying to get his attention.

He still didn’t look at her.

"Someone is stirring up trouble," Grace said. "The Winterbane Worm was definitely placed in the emperor’s bed on purpose."

No response.

"The people serving him are suspicious."

Still no response.

Grace looked at Evan Xiao, cold as ice, and asked, "Are you not going to talk to me anymore?"

Evan Xiao poured her a cup of tea, placed it in front of her, and looked at her. "You know what I want to hear."

Grace’s gaze faltered. She lowered her eyes, took a sip of tea, and said, "It tastes great!"
