Attachment Effect of the Tri-Born Soul Trio
After learning the general layout of the area from the Soul-Breaker Group, Evan Yang bid them farewell and entered the passage as they instructed.
It was a teleportation array that sent him inside.
Standing on it, Evan vanished from sight and entered the true Yin-Soul Domain.
Inside, it was dark as night, and only a faint, shadowy light shone from the sky.
“It should be daytime now,” Evan muttered as he looked up. According to the Soul-Breaker Group, the Domain had day and night, but night was brief—only an hour—while the rest was daytime, just like now.
Nighttime here meant pitch darkness, where you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. That was also when yin souls were at their strongest, so it was best to light a fire to keep watch for any approaching souls.
The Yin-Soul Domain was vast. Evan’s divine sense could only cover a corner of it. He was now in the outermost low-level region, where he saw some pitch-black, human-shaped figures.
“Are these yin souls?” Evan wondered, noticing that though they looked solid, they were actually just phantoms.
As soon as those low-level yin souls saw Evan, they lunged at him as if to devour him.
These low-level yin souls were useless to Evan, so he ignored them. With a single flash, he disappeared from their range—but the area was still swarming with them.
This forced Evan to quickly carve out a path, but when night fell, he hadn’t reached the mid-level region yet. He could only stay put, light a fire, and wait for an hour to pass.
“It really is pitch black,” Evan muttered as he lit the fire.
At the same time, a crowd of low-level yin souls gathered around, even letting out roars. “They get stronger at night?”
Evan noticed that these low-level yin souls became more imposing at night than during the day, so he watched them with curiosity.
Whenever they got close, Evan drove them back with his fire.
“Roar!” The yin souls howled in fury.
“What are you roaring for? Even low-level yin souls want to challenge me?” Evan laughed, keeping the fire burning.
Normally, these yin souls wouldn’t fear fire, but Evan had added something special to his flames. If they touched it, they burned as if set ablaze and vanished.
“This is Sacred Flame. Still want to try?” Evan chuckled.
These low-level yin souls had lost their true nature; they fought Evan purely out of instinct, charging at him one after another.
“I’m done playing with you. You really aren’t afraid of death, huh?” Seeing that this couldn’t go on, Evan lit more fire and began sprinting.
He streaked through the darkness like a meteor crossing the night.
Those low-level yin souls were scattered by Evan in just a few moves, or burned away by his flames.
Time passed bit by bit. About five days later, Evan finally crossed the low-level region and reached the mid-level area.
“This should be the mid-level region,” Evan muttered.
All around him drifted pale blue, phantom-like yin souls. Each looked almost solid; some were fighting and devouring each other, while others just idled.
But Evan’s arrival disrupted their routine. The yin souls, as if spotting food, immediately turned as a group toward him.
“Mid-level souls aren’t worth much. Just here for a bit of fun.” Evan knew these souls weren’t very strong; he could easily deal with them, so he planned to spar briefly before heading to the high-level region.
That was his real destination.
“Mid-level souls, huh? Let’s wipe you out.” Evan snorted coldly as the yin souls swarmed him.
Once Sacred Flame was unleashed, the weaker yin souls were instantly burned into vapor and vanished.
The rest weren’t afraid at all and kept charging at Evan.
“They really are a bunch of creatures who’ve lost their true nature.” Evan knew these yin souls had lost their essence, some even as a result of devouring stronger souls.
After fighting for a while, Evan found the battle dull. Just as the yin souls were about to launch another frenzied attack, his Space Ring suddenly stirred.
“?” Evan curiously opened his Space Ring and saw three shadowy human figures appear.
“It’s them?” Evan smiled when he saw the three figures.
“Master.” The three weren’t strangers—they were the Tri-Born Soul Trio. Their strength now, affected by Evan, could rival early Divine Spirit experts.
“Why did you come out?” Evan asked curiously. These souls were different from the yin souls; they couldn’t speak, but these three had their own consciousness.
“We want.” Soul One said.
“Want what?” Evan asked, puzzled.
Then Evan witnessed a shocking scene. The three souls stood beside him, forming a triangle. They opened their mouths, and all the nearby yin souls were sucked toward them like vacuum cleaners.
Finally, the three souls reached out and tapped the yin souls, making them vanish instantly.
Any mid-level yin soul that rushed over was instantly erased by a tap from the trio.
“What are you doing?” Evan asked in shock.
“These souls are just right for us. Absorbing them makes us stronger,” Soul One replied.
Hearing that the trio were absorbing the yin souls, Evan was even more surprised. He could sense that the three were gradually growing stronger—their aura was subtly different than before.
“Will you surpass me?” Evan wondered, both curious and expectant.
Even after clearing an entire area, the trio still showed no sign of breaking through.
“You still haven’t broken through?” Evan asked, puzzled.
“We used to feed on that other stuff, but now it’s useless for us. These yin souls suit us, but their energy is still a bit weak. We need to absorb more,” Soul One answered.
Evan knew they used to absorb crystal sources, but now their strength was so high that absorbing more crystals was like adding a drop to a huge vat—it would take forever to make a difference.
But hearing that even so many mid-level souls weren’t enough to satisfy them surprised Evan.
“How many more do you need?” Evan asked, puzzled.
“Maybe ten times as many as just now,” Soul One replied after thinking it over.
Evan nodded, understanding now. Since it wouldn’t take much extra time, he led the trio on a frenzy of soul absorption among the mid-level yin souls.
After a full day, the three souls finally showed signs of change. Their aura grew stronger, and they broke through to the mid-stage Divine Spirit Realm.
“You three are amazing—just one day of absorption and you break through.” Evan laughed in awe.
“We want more,” Soul One said without changing expression.
“More? You’ve absorbed so much already!” Evan exclaimed at Soul One’s request, and the other two souls agreed they needed more as well.
Seeing all three still hungry, Evan had no choice but to keep hunting with them. After five more days in the mid-level region, the trio were finally satisfied.
At this point, Evan couldn’t gauge their strength anymore, but he was certain they were stronger than late-stage Divine Spirit experts.
“Master, we’re full,” Soul One replied.
“I think that’s about enough,” Evan said, smiling awkwardly.
The three souls stared at Evan, as if they had something to say.
“What is it?” Evan wondered if they were about to turn on him, since their strength now surpassed his and they could easily rebel.
“We want to stay outside, not go back in,” Soul One said.
“But if you stay outside, people will get suspicious,” Evan muttered. This wasn’t his original continent—here, everyone was powerful, and anyone sharp would realize they weren’t human.
“Attach,” Soul One said.
“Attach?” Evan was puzzled.
Suddenly, the three souls transformed and attached themselves to Evan—one became armor, while the other two fused with his hands.
“They disappeared?” Evan was shocked to find only a flash of armor on his chest—the three souls had merged into his Immortal Warplate.
“Master, as long as you wish, we can appear anytime,” Soul One replied.
With a single thought, Evan made the Immortal Warplate flash, and the three souls appeared on its surface.
He felt a surge of explosive power throughout the Warplate.
“This…” Evan could hardly believe his Immortal Warplate’s defense was now ten times stronger than before.
Then, with another thought, the Warplate returned inside him, vanishing from sight.
“What a treasure,” Evan thought to himself with a smile. He didn’t know what else the trio could do, but for now, the benefits were clear—the Warplate’s defense had transformed.
Not only that, Soul One’s next words stunned him even more: “We can attach to any weapon.”
“Really?” Evan exclaimed in shock.
“Yes,” Soul One replied.
To test their ability, Evan equipped his Powerburst Gauntlets and let the trio attach themselves.
Once attached, the gauntlets’ amplification jumped from twofold to threefold.
That threefold boost delighted him. With his current arts, he could freely unleash fifty times amplification, so with the gauntlets it reached one hundred fifty times. If luck allowed, it could even stack to three hundred times.
Seeing such results, Evan had them attach to his Fly-Fire Boots next.
Originally, the boots only doubled his speed. Now, they boosted it threefold. Since Evan’s Phantom Steps could now reach twelve times speed after entering the Divine Spirit Realm,
That meant he could only increase speed twelvefold—twenty-fourfold with the boots. Now, it reached thirty-sixfold.
It was pure speed stacking—even when facing enemies stronger than Divine Spirit, Evan could freely use the trio to amplify the gauntlets or boots’ effects.
“Amazing! You three are my lucky stars,” Evan said joyfully.
“Master, as we get stronger, we can bring you even more benefits,” Soul One said.
Evan smiled. “No problem. Once we reach the high-level region, let’s work together—I’ll catch yin souls, you devour them.”
His words made the trio happy, as if the yin souls were food.
Sensing their excitement, Evan laughed. “Let’s go—to the high-level region.”
