Chapter 1428
Ten minutes later, the floating airship carrying seven Heaven-rank mages sped toward the small city where Leon was located.
A few hours later, the airship plunged directly into the range of the city's anti-flight array. Edgar Sinclair was the first to burst out of the vessel, his Heaven-rank aura unleashed without restraint as he hovered in midair, staring at the wizard tower atop the floating island.
"Foolish wretch, to seize Sinclair Family territory and murder our champions—you will pay with your life..."
Shouting down from above, Edgar Sinclair struck first. Spears of ice plummeted from the sky, transforming into a rain of icy lances that battered the wizard tower's surface.
As the ice spears shattered one after another, frost swept across the wizard tower, and with Edgar Sinclair's incantation, the entire structure was encased in ice.
The wizard tower's magic clashed violently with the frost. Seconds later, the ice shattered into countless fragments, and with it, the tower's magical shield broke apart as well—its defenses had completely dissipated...
With the tower's defenses torn asunder, Edgar Sinclair raised his staff again, chanting brief, cryptic spells. A cloud of frost formed overhead, and from it, a massive sphere of ice—dozens of meters in diameter—plummeted toward the wizard tower with terrifying force.
Behind Edgar Sinclair, the Sinclair Family's champions emerged one after another: four Heaven-rank mages in total—three at the first rank, one at the second. Add Morgan, still aboard the airship, with two more Heaven-rank allies, and Edgar's lips curled into a satisfied smile.
I've brought every Heaven-rank mage left in our family, and we've got Morgan, a third-rank Heaven-rank mage. Word is, his uncle is here too—a fourth-rank mage, nearly at the fifth.
With this many champions, even that damned fool's schemes won't save him—he's doomed.
At a window in the wizard tower, Marianne poked her head out for a look, then immediately withdrew in disappointment.
"Turns out it's just a half-lich. The flesh reeks. And you come here to cause trouble without even bringing two strong magical beasts? Such stupidity...
Hubert, someone's causing trouble. Should we go deal with them?"
Marianne hopped down from the window, gave Hubert—still snoring—a kick. Hubert groggily opened his eyes, hearing nothing but his own name...
He sprang from the bed, immediately pulled Marianne onto his lap, and gave her a sound spanking.
"Brat, call me 'Dad,' you hear? Damn little brat, daring to call your old man by name—go two days without a beating and you forget your manners..."
Marianne gritted her teeth, her cheeks flushed, holding back her words. After Hubert had spanked her a dozen times, she rubbed her sore backside, trailing after him, seething.
Before Hubert could intercept the falling ice sphere from the sky, a deep blue ice spear shot out from inside the wizard tower, piercing the massive orb. The freezing power exploded within, shattering it into fragments...
Reina appeared at the tower's summit, her expression cold as she gazed at the Sinclair Family mages hovering in the sky.
Hubert peeked over the headboard, then shrank back, his eyes drifting to the arrogant Sinclair Family members floating in midair—like he was staring at a bunch of corpses.
"Idiots. Pulling frost magic tricks in front of this she-dragon? They're just asking for it. Whatever, once they're dead, I'll play the hero and clean up their bodies..."
High in the sky, Edgar Sinclair gathered his mana, his robes billowing, his extraordinary aura unleashed without restraint. The other Sinclair mages flanked him, their powers radiating as they bore down on Reina.
"A frost mage? And a woman? Such pure frost power—she must have frostblood. If we capture her, she'll nicely offset our family's losses."
"And that wicked mage? Drag him out, make him kneel and repent. Hand over the alchemy notes, and maybe we'll let him die quickly..."
"Come out and face your death! You really think this shabby wizard tower can stop us? If you want a quick death, get out here now. Listen—Lord Morgan himself is here! If you don't crawl out and repent, Lord Morgan will make you wish you could die!"
Edgar Sinclair hovered in the air, simply releasing his overwhelming aura to suppress them.
Damn it. If I weren't worried that blowing up the wizard tower would destroy everything inside, I'd have those bastards dead already.
Lord Morgan himself is here—the heir of a powerful family who fights on the front lines. These fools ought to know what happens if you cross Lord Morgan, unless their brains are completely fried.
As soon as they come out, we'll take them down. Whatever tricks or traps they've got, with Lord Morgan here, it's no problem...
Edgar Sinclair wore a smug smile, as if he could already see himself reclaiming the alchemy notes, completing the final transformation ritual, and becoming an immortal, mighty lich.
Meanwhile, inside the floating airship, the formidable Lord Morgan stared wide-eyed, secretly watching Reina atop the wizard tower through the window, utterly shocked.
"Why does that woman look so familiar? I feel like I've seen her somewhere... She looks just like Lady Reina..."
Morgan muttered to himself, while beside him, an elderly mage with graying hair and beard trembled, pointing in another direction. On the side of the wizard tower, two orc heads—one large, one small—poked out of a window, grinning as they leaned out to watch the commotion.
"Morgan, look over there! Isn't that orc Lord Hubert?"
Morgan turned and glanced the other way, instantly spotting the two orcs—big and small, carved from the same mold—leaning out the window, grinning foolishly as they watched the spectacle.
He had no idea when the little orc had shown up next to Hubert, but seeing two such strong figures, both looking a lot like Reina and Hubert, even Morgan's face turned a little green.
"Uncle, if Lady Reina and Lord Hubert are both here, then the 'vile mage' the Sinclair Family mentioned—could it be Archmage Leon Merlin?"
The elderly mage's face looked even worse than Morgan's; his already pale complexion turned corpse-like in an instant.
