Apology

Bang!

A thunderous crash echoed through the room.

Fourth Elder Rowe slammed his palm down onto the side table.

The entire villa shook; the crystal chandelier on the ceiling swung wildly, nearly crashing down.

Mason Shang stood there with his head bowed.

A Pointing-to-Mystery Realm expert, forced to endure being yelled at face-to-face—anywhere else, it would be unthinkable. But between the Shang family and the Rowe clan, it’s just business as usual.

People from Ancient Martial Clans always treat vassal families like dogs and servants.

Of course, there are plenty of perks too.

Back then, the Shang family were just small-time merchants in Tangshan with a bit of cash. Only after the Rowe clan took them under their wing did they step up, gaining their current status. Mason Shang even managed to break into the Pointing-to-Mystery Realm thanks to Rowe clan guidance and a steady supply of Rowe pills.

So even if Mason Shang feels uncomfortable deep down, he doesn’t dare act out—especially since the Fourth Elder Rowe standing before him is a third-grade Pointing-to-Mystery expert.

A third-grade Pointing-to-Mystery—one even stronger than Brandon Rowe.

As for the four numb-faced men behind him, they were fist slaves—tempered by the Rowe clan’s special herbs until their muscles reached an absurd level.

Individually, they might only be at fifth-grade Vajra, but their freakish resilience lets them hold their own even against first-grade Vajra. When all four work together, they can even withstand attacks from the Pointing-to-Mystery Realm.

"I understand, but that’s all the intel we have right now."

Cold sweat broke out on Mason Shang’s forehead.

A top contender for Rowe clan head—Brandon Rowe—was killed in a restroom.

If word of that got out, it’d be beyond humiliating.

"Where is he? If you suspect him, bring him in for questioning. If he won’t talk, kill him first. Better to kill the wrong person than let the real culprit get away."

Fourth Elder Rowe’s eyes were icy: "Our Rowe clan has stayed out of worldly affairs for years, and now the moment we send someone out, he gets wiped out? How does that make us look?"

"Whoever dared to touch our Rowe clan, he’ll pay with his life!"

"Snatching him now isn’t exactly easy. First, that kid’s strength is at least Vajra Realm, and he’s staying right next to Clearwater University. Plus, there might be a real powerhouse backing him. If we try to grab him quietly, it’ll be a huge headache."

"So you want me to just sit here and do nothing?"

Fourth Elder Rowe was already getting fired up. He knew exactly what Clearwater University represented.

In Beijing, you can get away with shady business as long as you keep it quiet. But if you make a scene out in the open, it’s a whole different story.

Stability comes first.

Even the Rowe clan wouldn’t dare snatch someone in broad daylight downtown. If they really pissed off Moonshade, or worse, brought Hidden Dragon into it, the Rowe clan could be doomed.

"No worries, Elder. I’ve already started making arrangements."

Mason Shang shook his head: "Give it a few days. I’m sure he’ll come on his own—and then, Elder Rowe, you can handle it personally. The truth will come out."

A cold glint flashed in Mason Shang’s eyes.
