"What exactly is this thing?"
Equilibrium Dream.
I let out a sound of surprise and looked at Ouyang Wei in confusion. She laughed.
"When you entered the Dreamworld before, didn't you bring three Good Dreams? With those three Good Dreams, you managed to reverse your fate several times, didn't you?"
I looked at the nearly weightless purple orb in my hand, then placed it into the Shedding Skin.
"This Equilibrium Dream can keep you safe during major crises—neither good nor bad, just balanced. It will let you return here unharmed. After all, that Buddha Statue of Visions is no ordinary thing."
What I know about the Buddha Statue of Visions is that it's an extremely powerful dream, a force granted by the Buddha through dreaming. Last time, it was only because my cousin triggered the Buddha Statue of Visions that we managed to defeat Lord Wraith.
"You know about the Buddha Statue of Visions?"
"Dreams can be good or bad, and the Buddha Statue of Visions has been dormant in the Ghostrealm for centuries. So, Ethan Zhang, it must have absorbed something over time. Think about it—why would Brother Owen want that thing? He’s a Blue Wraith, after all."
I seemed to be gradually beginning to understand.
"So, once Howard Zhang's temperament is influenced by certain things—like darkness—this thing will gradually change from a Good Dream into a nightmare."
Looks like I came at the right time. Howard Zhang looks worse than ever.
The last time I saw Howard Zhang was nearly a month ago, but now, his condition is even worse than before.
I keep feeling like Howard Zhang is hiding something from me. The way he looks at me is off, especially yesterday—he seemed like he wanted to say something but couldn't.
I must enter Howard Zhang's dream as soon as possible and take a good look.
"Still not ready?"
I asked, and Vivian Ouyang smiled.
"Don't worry. Everyone in Dream City heard you needed help and they've all come out. To find Howard Zhang's dream and create a Double Dream, we should be able to succeed."
I nodded, looking gratefully at Vivian Ouyang.
"By the way, Miss Vivian Ouyang..."
"Don't worry. With me and that hermaphrodite here, her mind won't collapse for now. Sometimes, time can heal many things."
I waited quietly, anxious. Suddenly, Mona Ouyang appeared right in front of me and moved to the golden light by the wall of the dream passage.
"Come here, Ethan Zhang. When I tell you to go in, do it immediately. Nolan and Susie are already waiting for you. Follow them—they'll take you to your cousin's dream. The Double Dream collapses quickly, so you need to hurry."
I stared at the golden light. Suddenly, a lump appeared within it. Mona Ouyang reached out, tore open the golden light, and I rushed in.
As soon as I entered, I was stunned. I was on the highway to Universal Temple, looking down at a sports car below. Inside were my cousin and me. Up ahead, a small red car belonged to Sophie Sun.
This was the beginning, when my cousin and I first went to Universal Temple.
"Disciple, stop staring and hurry up."
Suddenly, I saw Nolan and Susie standing beside me. They grabbed my hands and started running, floating in midair. Only then did I notice something off about this dream—there were patches of black everywhere, growing more numerous, as if being devoured by something.
Nolan and Susie led me, weaving through these black patches.
"We're almost there, disciple. Over there."
Nolan pointed ahead. I saw a giant black pit, like a quicksand crater, endlessly devouring everything around it. The dream was flowing into the pit, getting shredded. By now, the blackness was nearly swallowing the entire dream.
"There's not enough time. What do we do?"
Susie's face changed as she shouted. I realized the black pit was still far off, and in this world, I could only rely on the help of dream people.
"Keep moving forward. We're here for you."
It was Nolan's father, Big Mountain. He radiated a bright white light. Beside him was a huge red figure—Red Path. They had all come, and I looked at them gratefully.
"Thank you, everyone."
The flow of the black pit began to slow, and gradually, we drew closer.
"Go on, disciple."
Standing before the pit, Nolan and Susie let go of my hands. I started to fall into the black pit.
Even when I unleashed the Specter Web, I still couldn't find Howard Zhang in this world.
It was Mona Ouyang. He stood above me as I fell into the pit. I nodded.
With a splat, I landed on a slippery surface. Rain was pouring down from the sky, pelting me like beans. I immediately shot up into the air. Everything in this dream affected me, but I could still use my powers here.
Floating in the air, I searched everywhere for my cousin's shadow. Suddenly, I saw Sophie Sun standing at the platform, as if waiting for a bus. There was no sign of my cousin.
I was deeply surprised by all this.
"Where's my cousin? Why is Sophie Sun here?"
I remembered last time, all the female ghosts trapped by Lord Wraith were freed under the guidance of the Buddha Statue of Visions. Sophie Sun should have been one of them.
A bus sped through the rainy night and stopped. Sophie Sun boarded. It was around 9 p.m.—rush hour—and with the heavy rain, the bus was extremely crowded.

Sophie Sun looked gloomy and troubled. I kept searching for my cousin, but still couldn't find him.
Even when I unleashed my ghost network, I still couldn't find my cousin in this world.
