Chapter 630: The Fearlessness of the Ignorant

Everyone looked over, and sure enough, the Mana Crystal on the Abyssal Leviathan's forehead seemed to be morphing into a third eye, but it hadn't fully taken shape. The crystal itself was dull and lifeless, shrouded in a gray haze, without a glimmer of light.

With the Abyssal Leviathan dead, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. That creature was terrifying—on some level, even more formidable than Oracis. If it were still alive, even with seals and cages, we'd all be dead meat sooner or later.

Leon stared at the Mana Crystal embedded in the Abyssal Leviathan’s forehead, eyes nearly glazed over. When that beast was alive, you’d run as far as you could just to avoid it. But now that it’s dead—and the Mana Crystal is still there—if I don’t grab it, I’d never forgive myself. Hell, even Anderson’s eyeballs nearly popped out and he forgot to put them back in.

Waving his hand, Leon summoned a Stone Golem and carefully directed it into the massive cage. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, and the Stone Golem showed no signs of trouble.

But just as Leon excitedly controlled the Stone Golem to climb onto the Abyssal Leviathan’s head to dig out that Tier-39 Mana Crystal, he was left speechless.

The moment the Stone Golem touched the Abyssal Leviathan, its corpse instantly crumbled into a pile of dust. Even the Tier-39 Mana Crystal disintegrated at the same time, drifting down like powder.

Leon’s lips twitched with heartache.

Damn it, a peak Tier-39 Mana Crystal! That crystal was on the verge of evolving into a third eye, and the Abyssal Leviathan was already halfway to Sky Rank! And just like that—gone!

"What the hell! What just happened?"

Anderson wasn’t much better off than Leon. All three of his faces were frozen in shock, downright stupefied, as he watched the Abyssal Leviathan’s corpse drift down as ashes.

"Th-this... how is this even possible?!"

After a long while, Leon and Anderson finally looked at each other, reading endless horror in each other’s expressions.

Both Leon and Anderson possessed knowledge far beyond ordinary people. They knew that the Abyssal Leviathan’s skin was naturally covered in Runes of Eternity—runes so powerful they bordered on the laws of reality itself.

The Abyssal Leviathan’s skin was nearly indestructible, fortified by Runes of Eternity. Nothing could harm it except its own natural growth. That’s why even newborn Abyssal Leviathans could roam the pitch-black depths without worry—the ocean’s pressure couldn’t even wrinkle its skin.

These Runes of Eternity originally came from the Abyssal Leviathan’s skin itself. Among humans, they’re only used to inscribe objects—giving them the power to resist the passage of time. During the era of magical peak, Runes of Eternity were carved onto the corpses of top-tier beings to preserve them, hoping for resurrection one day.

Leon had studied Runes of Eternity—and the Abyssal Leviathan itself.

Thanks to those Runes of Eternity, even after death, the Abyssal Leviathan’s corpse could last for hundreds of thousands, even millions of years without decaying.

Not to mention, its Mana Crystal was still intact. As long as there was a trace of magic left, the Abyssal Leviathan’s corpse shouldn’t rot in the slightest.

The full title of the Abyssal Leviathan was the Immortal Funeral Bringer of the Deep.

There’s never been a single record in history of an Abyssal Leviathan’s corpse naturally decaying!

So what the hell was this supposed to be?

Leon’s heart sank. The Abyssal Leviathan’s corpse had turned to dust at a touch—there was only one explanation: that peak Tier-39 Mana Crystal was completely drained, and there wasn’t a trace of magic left in its body.

Anderson fell silent too. The whole thing was too bizarre—a peak Tier-39 beast, dead and gone without a trace. Just thinking about it sent chills down his spine.

"Hubert, look around. See if there are any more mechanisms."

Leon said this with a grim face.

Hubert relaxed a bit, seeing there was no danger—the corpse in the cage wasn’t a threat. He didn’t care how the beast died; as long as he was safe, that was good enough for him.

Hubert quickly found another identical mechanism. When he triggered it, another Master Alchemist’s Seal lit up, just like the first one.

Another cage floated up, and inside was a massive beast over a dozen meters long. It looked like an octopus, but with a tuna-like head and enormous lances protruding from it. On either side of its head were gill slits more than a meter wide—used for breathing and absorbing magic.

Once the cage was fully raised, Leon made his judgment.
