Believe?
Serena Feng turned her face away, hiding the mockery in her eyes.
She wasn't some naive fifteen-year-old girl, simple enough to trust a man with ambition. "Ninth Royal Uncle, whether I believe you or not doesn't matter. My revenge is mine to take."
Still don't believe me?
Ninth Royal Uncle rose, stepping out of the shadows to stand before Serena Feng, looking down on her. "Serena Feng, whether you believe it or not, I want you to know—within the limits of my power, I will indulge you unconditionally. Whatever you want to do, I will allow it."
The promise slipped out before he realized what he'd said, but once spoken, Nolan felt no regret.
His life was always meticulously planned, every step calculated precisely. Serena Feng was the exception—again and again, she made him break his own rules.
And this exception brought a splash of color to his black-and-white world.
Unfortunately, Serena Feng didn't accept it. "Thank you, Ninth Royal Uncle."
Ninth Royal Uncle's words were tempting, but Serena Feng couldn't bring herself to trust him. She shrank slightly into her chair, widening the distance between them. "If you have nothing else, Ninth Royal Uncle, I'll take my leave."
Serena Feng realized what she'd done only after the fact. Guilty and flustered, she didn't dare linger—taking advantage of Ninth Royal Uncle's daze, she bolted for the door.
Sorry! I didn't mean to!
Even from a distance, her panicked apology could still be heard.
Whether by design or not, no one at the Ninth Prince’s Estate tried to stop Serena Feng. She ran all the way out, only to find the dawn streets deserted. Most importantly, where could she go now? She was homeless…
Serena Feng stood dazed in the empty street, wandering aimlessly. After hesitating, she finally headed toward Sun Estate—surely Sun Zhengdao would take her in?
When she arrived, the gates of Sun Estate were still tightly closed. Serena Feng, exhausted and hungry, felt the pain in her injured back flare up. She quietly sat down at the door, waiting for someone to open it—like a stray puppy hoping to be claimed.
Across the street, a black-clad figure stood in the shadows; for as long as Serena Feng waited, he remained there. Only when Sun Zhengdao opened the doors and brought her inside did he silently emerge and leap onto the roof, followed by Storm Cloud Bu, also dressed in black.
"Lance, are you sure Sun Zhengdao is connected to the Feng-Li Clan?" Storm Cloud Bu asked skeptically from the rooftop.
He liked women like Serena Feng, but only as a passing fancy. He didn't want Lance Quinn to waste too much effort on unrelated people—they didn't have time to spare.
"Not sure," Lance Quinn replied coldly, radiating an icy aloofness.
If you're not sure, then why are we here? Just to check if Serena Feng is safe? Lance, you only gave her the Nine Provinces Token—it doesn't mean we've all accepted her, or that we need to protect her. Besides, she doesn't know your true identity, or her own. If she ever found out, she might even try to kill you." At this, Storm Cloud Bu thought of Bao’er; Lance Quinn always seemed to know how to handle women.
After Lance Quinn brought Bao’er down the mountain, he shamelessly let her discover him seeking out other women for relief. Bao’er, furious, called him out for being indecent, but Lance just said he was a man with needs. If Bao’er couldn’t satisfy him, he’d look elsewhere. In the royal family, boys had maids to teach them about intimacy from age fifteen, so to him this was normal.
Worst of all, Lance Quinn reminded Bao’er that his status meant he could never be monogamous. The only thing he could offer her was the position of principal wife and his protection—not lifelong fidelity like her parents had.
Bao’er fainted from rage on the spot. When she woke up, she just sat there with red eyes, not speaking. Clearly, she’d always known this was possible—she just hadn’t wanted to face it until now, when Lance forced her to confront the reality.
Storm Cloud Bu understood Lance’s goal, but even so, there was nothing he could do to stop him—everything Lance said and did was right. If Bao’er was going to marry him, she’d have to accept all of it…
"The Feng-Li and Lan Clans were never natural enemies." Lance Quinn threw a cold retort at Storm Cloud Bu, telling him to shut up. At that moment, Serena Feng finished recounting what had happened at Feng Estate.
Across the street, a black-clad figure stood in the shadows; for as long as Serena Feng waited, he remained there. Only when Sun Zhengdao opened the doors and brought her inside did he silently emerge and leap onto the roof, followed by Storm Cloud Bu, also dressed in black.
Sun Zhengdao was usually calm, but when he heard about the fire at Feng Estate, he grew agitated: "I’ll find a way to kill Liam Li. I won’t let him get away with it."
No need. I’ll take my own revenge." Serena Feng refused—only by killing her enemies with her own hands could it count as vengeance.
Besides, Liam Li wasn’t the only one she wanted revenge on. There was no way he could have set fire to Feng Estate alone—she wouldn’t spare any of the masterminds behind it.
What are you planning? If you need anything from me, just say the word—I won’t refuse." Sun Zhengdao never doubted Serena Feng; he believed any woman with Feng-Li blood would not be weak.
An eye for an eye. He’s not the only one who can play with explosives—when I was making bombs, he hadn’t even appeared yet. He burned my home; I’ll make sure he suffers, and I’ll see him die miserably in front of everyone…" A flash of coldness passed through Serena Feng’s eyes, but Sun Zhengdao still noticed and steadied himself.
Women of the Feng-Li Clan were never soft-hearted. Sun Zhengdao had seen Serena Feng’s ruthless decisiveness before. He reaffirmed his support: "If you’re determined, I’ll help you with everything I have."
Serena Feng nodded; Sun Zhengdao’s reaction was exactly what she expected. "No need for thanks—just promise you’ll never tell anyone I can make explosives." She didn’t trust Nolan Dongling, but she trusted Sun Zhengdao, for reasons she couldn’t explain…
Sun Zhengdao immediately swore on his family’s lives. Serena Feng didn’t stop him. But she didn’t realize that as she spoke, the two men on the roof exchanged a look of surprise and understanding…
So it’s true—Serena Feng can make thunder-blast grenades!
