Visitors from the General's Manor

"Miss Grace, why did you suddenly come back?" the nanny asked.

"Something happened, so I had to come back for now," Grace replied.

"Did you find the treasure that can create a spiritual root?" Hope asked her.

"I found it, but I haven't gotten my hands on it yet," Grace said. "So I still need to find a way into the General's Manor, and I'll need your help."

"Miss, don't say that," the nanny replied. "If there's really such a treasure, it's worth risking everything for. Just tell us what you need us to do."

Of course, they had no idea what kind of "treasure" she was after. If they did, they'd never let her go, not even if you beat them to death.

"Is there any problem with Serena Jane?" Serena Jane is the abbess of Moonwater Abbey.

This person is incredibly greedy. As long as you give her money, she'll cooperate with anything.

"Don't worry about her," the nanny said. "We've only paid her the deposit, and she hasn't received the big sum yet. Naturally, she'll do her best to keep our secret."

"Good," Grace said. "Let's pack up tonight and move to the house at the foot of the mountain."

She needed to wait there for someone from the General's Manor to come looking for her.

The medicine she gave Cecilia Chen—no one in the entire Blue Moon Kingdom could cure it.

She was sure the General's Manor would send someone to find her.

She needed to carefully plan how to use this opportunity to go back and continue being a maid for that "treasure-holding" general...

...

The nanny and the other two were all from poor families. After changing clothes and tidying up the house, they made it look warm and lively—like a middle-aged woman living with her three daughters.

Grace boasted to Ruby that the General would personally come to fetch her within three days.

But it didn't even take three days. On the morning of the second day, someone from the General's Manor arrived.

The one who came was Evan Xiao's chief attendant, Louis Lin, asking if she could cure the red spots on Cecilia Chen's face.

"...In just the two days you've been gone, we've found more than a dozen doctors, even invited spiritual alchemists, but they all said it's hopeless. They said she'd be like this for life! Miss Cecilia has already tried to hang herself once, jumped into the lake once, and cut her wrists twice. The General thought of you, so he sent me to ask—do you have any way to cure the red spots on her face?"

"Is that rash really so hard to cure?" Grace asked, puzzled.

"Yes!" Louis Lin replied. "Lily Bai, do you have any ideas?"

"Hmm... Actually, I do have a recipe for removing spots," Grace said. "But I'm not sure if it will work."

Louis Lin's eyes lit up. "Then come with me! Let's give it a try!"

"Hey! Okay. For the General, Lily Bai will give it her all, even if it kills me!" Grace said, lifting her leg to go.

Unexpectedly, her mother (the nanny), supported by her two sisters (Hope and Claire), staggered out and called, "Lily Bai, where are you going?"

When the nanny was young, she was a performer.

Later, she got married and had children. To make a living, she became Grace's nanny in the Prime Minister's Residence.

Actually, she's only in her forties and quite healthy.

But she knows how to do makeup.

Right now, she had made herself up to look pale and sickly, like someone on the verge of death.

"Mom, I'm going back to the General's Manor to treat someone," Grace said. "I'll be right back, don't worry."

"No way!" the nanny refused flatly. "You were almost beaten to death—how can you go back there? From now on, you're not allowed to set foot in the General's Manor again!"

"Ma'am, Lily Bai is just going to help with a medical case this time. There's absolutely no danger, I promise!" Louis Lin said to Grace's mother, grinning.

The nanny squinted at him for a long time. "Who are you?"
