Return to the Capital, Never Be Too Sentimental

2/14/2026

Prince Nolan's arrival did not bring much change to Serena Feng's life. She continued her pregnancy care as before, completely ignoring Prince Nolan's presence. Apart from resting in bed, she would chat with Ethan Su Wenhang or teach Feng Jin to read.

Feng Jin and Ethan Su Wenhang were both very well-behaved. Once they learned that Serena was expecting a baby, they made sure not to bother her, afraid she might get tired. Even the Snow Wolves, those silly lugs, understood Serena was now a top-priority protected person and no longer dared to pounce on her like before.

This peaceful and gentle atmosphere made Serena feel better and better. Even if Prince Nolan showed up in front of her every day, she could face him calmly, her mood unaffected by his actions or words.

Everyone settled peacefully in Mystic Healer Valley like this. Zuo An, Ethan Su Wenhang, and Feng Jin could stay as long as they liked, but Prince Nolan was different.

Counting the time spent on the road, Prince Nolan had been away from the Capital for almost a month. William Wang and Felix Fuller were at their limit, sending letters nearly every day to urge him to return.

It wasn’t that they wanted to make trouble for Prince Nolan—current circumstances simply wouldn’t allow him to stay away so long. If he didn’t return soon, even if Eastlyn didn’t collapse, it might be destroyed.

While Eastlyn and Southlyn were locked in fierce battle, Northlyn finally sent its troops and formed an alliance with Southlyn to attack Eastlyn.

Northlyn’s offensive was fierce. Even though Eastlyn had prepared, fighting two countries at once was exhausting—and with Peace City, Lyndaria, and others watching hungrily from the sidelines, things only got harder.

After sending more than a dozen letters and getting no response, William Wang finally played his trump card—he came to Mystic Healer Valley in person.

Eastlyn belongs to Prince Nolan—there’s no reason for him to act indifferent and keep holding out here.

With William Wang's arrival, Mystic Healer Valley became even livelier—and the air around Prince Nolan grew colder. The way he looked at William was like throwing icy knives.

Luckily, after all these years, William was used to Prince Nolan's cold and ruthless ways. Even under his murderous glare, William remained relaxed and cheerful, completely unaffected.

After exchanging pleasantries with the Valley Master, William Wang ignored Prince Nolan’s cold stare and gently expressed his wish to visit Serena. The Valley Master, dazzled by William’s smile, eagerly offered to show him the way.

“Such grace, truly impressive.” That was Dr. Redwater and Dr. Marcus Guile’s verdict.

“Such bearing, such character. Serena’s missing out.” That was the Valley Master’s opinion.

“Serena must have poor eyesight.” That was Logan Ling’s comment after learning William Wang once proposed to her.

William Wang wanted to see Serena, and Prince Nolan couldn’t stop him—nor would he stoop to following along. Prince Nolan sat motionless in the flower hall, lost in thought.

William had expected to find Serena frowning, looking thin and weary, sunk in pain and sorrow. But when they met, he was stunned.

“I really shouldn’t have worried about you.” William Wang shook his head and laughed. For two months, he’d worried Serena might be grieving alone over Prince Nolan, but she turned out to be living better than anyone.

“Life is something you have to live for yourself. I have to treat myself kindly.” Serena was already more than five months pregnant, and even in summer clothes her belly was obvious. William glanced at it once, then looked away.

The two sat down on a wooden bench. Serena picked up the teapot to pour tea for William Wang, but he stopped her. “You’re pregnant. Let me do it myself.”

“Don’t fuss, I’m not made of glass. I can handle something this small.” Serena insisted on pouring tea for William. “Try it—Simon Sun brewed this medicinal tea especially for Feng Jin and Ethan Su Wenhang.”

“It tastes great.” William took a sip and set down his cup.

He hadn’t come to Mystic Healer Valley just for tea. After asking a few questions about Serena’s condition, William naturally brought up, “When do you plan to go back?”

William was clever enough not to ask about what happened between Prince Nolan and Serena, nor did he try to persuade her. Both tacitly avoided mentioning Prince Nolan, sticking to what mattered to them.

“Do I really have to go back?” Serena knew William’s question wasn’t just about her—it was mainly to get Prince Nolan to return sooner.

Serena wouldn’t pretend that Prince Nolan’s return had nothing to do with her. She and William both knew: if she didn’t go back, Prince Nolan wouldn’t leave either.

Prince Nolan could wait as long as he liked, but William Wang and Felix Fuller couldn’t let things go. Prince Nolan counted on this, which was why he stayed in Mystic Healer Valley without a care.

William Wang nodded slowly. “The situation outside is grim. He’s made too many enemies and left everything unresolved before fleeing. The Grand Empress Dowager and the Ghost King still haven’t been found.”

“Then let’s go back.” Serena sighed softly. “But I can’t travel quickly or rush.” She was well aware of her condition: though the baby was healthy, she couldn’t overexert herself or endure rough travel.

“As long as you’re willing to go back, even if it takes half a year on the road, it doesn’t matter.” William Wang was deliberately giving Serena bad ideas, hoping she’d make Prince Nolan suffer a little. But Serena had never considered making things difficult for him.

She’d once said: if Prince Nolan ever hurt her, she wouldn’t hate or blame him. After all, she’d given him the chance to hurt her—she had no right to blame anyone else. All she could do was make sure he never got another chance.

With William Wang taking the lead, everything moved quickly. When Serena announced her plan to return to the capital, the Valley Master, though reluctant, knew she had no choice. If Serena didn’t leave soon, his little Mystic Healer Valley would burst at the seams.

Still, for Serena’s safety, the Valley Master decided to personally escort her as her gynecologist, caring for her along the way.

“I can take care of Master.” Simon Sun spoke up timidly, but the Valley Master shut him down with a loud voice: “Stay put in Mystic Healer Valley! The herbs in the garden need harvesting—do that, and process them afterward.”

Simon glanced at the Valley Master without replying, then quietly went to Serena’s side. “Master, I’ll go to the capital with you.”

“Alright.” Serena rarely refused Simon’s requests, and this time was no exception. The Valley Master’s plan fell through; childishly, he turned away and ignored the master and disciple.

A bunch of ingrates—use him and toss him away. Now that he was no longer needed, not one kind word for him. Hmph... If Serena didn’t beg him this time, he just wouldn’t go.

The Valley Master waited a long time, but Serena never gave him a way out. Frustrated, he grunted to show he was still there, then haughtily declared, “Fine, since you don’t need me, I’m not going.”

This was pure stubbornness, and Serena knew it. Normally, she’d coax the Valley Master—this old child—but not this time.

From Jada Tang and William Wang, Serena had learned much about Lance Quinn. She knew about his connection to the Valley Master, and so her feelings toward the Valley Master cooled; she now saw him as just another elder or doctor.

“Then let’s not trouble the Valley Master.” Serena spoke calmly, but her words shocked everyone present.

Serena, what’s gotten into you?
