I Want a Divorce

With a determined heart, Sam Evans shoved Lana Evans aside and strode forward without looking back.

Lana Evans sat on the ground in a daze. Beside her, Cheng Jin hurriedly yanked her up and shoved her: "Lana, what are you standing there for? Go after your father and apologize!"

Just as Lana Evans was about to run after him, Sam Evans barked, "Stay where you are! I told you, I don't have a daughter like you. Don't call me father again!"

Lana Evans looked from Sam Evans to Cheng Jin, her mind in turmoil—fear and anxiety tangled in her chest. "Dad, do you really... really not want me anymore?"

Sam Evans nodded heavily. "From now on, go live with the Cheng family. Don't come back."

Sam Evans's words landed like a heavy hammer, pounding straight into Lana Evans's heart.

She had always felt untouchable, convinced her father would never truly hold a grudge against her no matter what she did. Relying on Sam Evans's fatherly love, Lana Evans had exploited and deceived him without restraint.

But when Sam Evans, with his own mouth, firmly declared he wanted nothing more to do with her, that he would sever their father-daughter bond, Lana Evans suddenly felt as if the mountain of a father behind her had collapsed.

From now on, there would be no father to shield her, no father to protect her from the storms.

So Sam Evans's love for her really could be worn away to nothing.

Lana Evans felt as if all her strength had been drained. She collapsed onto the ground, defeated.

Susan Evans, watching nearby, snapped. She charged forward like a wildcat, clawing at Sam Evans's face and cursing, "Sam Evans, you heartless brute! How could you be so ungrateful? Lana is your daughter—how can you just cast her aside? I'm your wife, Lana is my child. If you dare abandon her, I'll fight you to the end!"

Sam Evans had never laid a hand on Susan Evans before, but this time, he was different.

He had no intention of letting Susan Evans get away with it. When she tried to hit him, he grabbed her hands.

Sam Evans was a strong farmer, and no matter how fierce Susan Evans was, she was no match for a man who finally meant business.

Susan Evans struggled in Sam Evans's grip, glaring and cursing at him.

Sam Evans roared at Susan Evans, "Go ahead, make a scene! Keep going! Lana turned out this way all because of you! And you still have the nerve to fight with me? Susan Evans, let me tell you—today, I'm not just disowning Lana, I'm done with you too! Arthur, get me paper and ink. I'm writing a divorce letter!"

The words 'divorce letter' struck Susan Evans like a bolt of lightning. She froze, then struggled even harder. "Sam Evans, you heartless beast! I slogged through hardship with you, and now that you're successful, you want to throw away your loyal wife? You have no conscience! Shameless!"

"You know exactly what you've done! And today, I'm absolutely divorcing you!" Sam Evans was resolute. "You've ruined our daughter, and now you're scheming against me. What's the point of staying married if I have to watch my back every day? Susan Evans, if we're no longer on the same side, let's just split up. Go live with whoever you like—I’m not smart enough for your clever tricks!"

With those words, Sam Evans shoved Susan Evans aside and said to Arthur Evans, "Arthur, I can't write much myself. You write the divorce letter for me."

Arthur Evans took up the pen and looked at Sam Evans. "Third Brother, are you sure you want to divorce your wife?"
