After a long silence, Mira Skye finally asked, "Ian, why would the Heavenly Dao plot against you?"
Her voice trembled faintly; the information Ian had just revealed was simply too shocking. What was the Heavenly Dao, after all?
It was the supreme, unrivaled existence.
If the Heavenly Dao set its sights on someone, even a God Emperor would have over a ninety percent chance of falling.
"It's simple. The Heavenly Dao is afraid I'll defeat it and become the new Heavenly Dao!"
Ian replied with ease. He had indeed entertained that idea before, but now all his avatars were fully fused with him, making it impossible to send one out to cultivate the Heavenly Dao Ascension Method.
Besides, the Heavenly Dao method mastered by the corpse-puppet was just the former Heavenly Dao's technique. Was the former Heavenly Dao really so kind as to leave no traps in his method? Ian didn't believe it—the former Heavenly Dao surely left behind some hidden countermeasures.
Even if only a remnant soul remained, there might still be a chance for resurrection.
So Ian speculated that anyone who cultivated the method left by the former Heavenly Dao would most likely just end up benefiting him.
Hearing Ian's words,
Snowsun God-King and his daughter were even more shocked. The Heavenly Dao actually feared Ian?
Mira Skye wanted to ask more, but Snowsun God-King stopped her with a look.
He knew this involved a huge secret—even if they were close to Ian, it was best not to pry. As the saying goes, the more you know, the greater the danger.
Afterward, the topic was quietly dropped by mutual agreement. Ian couldn't resist teasing Mira, calling her the 'little girl who'll never grow up,' which made her puff out her cheeks in protest—though she didn't actually refute him.
Snowsun God-King set out a lavish banquet to entertain Ian and Redmoon God-King.
At the banquet, Redmoon God-King sat to Ian's left, while Mira Skye unceremoniously took the seat behind her. Earlier, she had repeatedly challenged Redmoon God-King with her gaze, but the latter always responded with a calm smile, which left Mira feeling both deflated and frustrated.
Before, she could accept losing to Redmoon God-King as an Upper Heavenly God.
But now that she was a God-King herself, she still found she couldn't win. That left her both depressed and annoyed.
After the banquet,
Mira Skye mustered her courage and said, "Ian, I want to talk to you alone."
"Huh...?"
Ian hesitated, uncertain.
Redmoon God-King spoke up: "Little brother, you two go ahead. I'll head back and get some rest!"
"Let's go!"
Mira Skylar grabbed Ian's hand and dashed outside, finally stopping at the edge of the star-sea.
"What's really going on between you and Redmoon God-King?"
Mira fixed Ian with a stare, demanding an answer.
"It's exactly what you see!"
This time, Ian didn't dodge the question—he admitted it outright.
"But isn't she married to Silverwing God-King?"
"They're only married in name," Ian explained, then told her the whole story about Silverwing God-King and Redmoon God-King.
"And what about me?"
Mira summoned her courage: "Where do I stand in your heart?"
"To me, you're just a little girl who'll never grow up!" Ian teased, reaching out to ruffle Mira's hair, but she dodged away.
"Don't touch me—I hate you!"
Mira shouted at Ian, then ran off.
When Ian returned to Redmoon God-King's courtyard, he found her brewing tea.
"So, how did your talk with Mira go?" Redmoon God-King asked with a smile.
"Not great," Ian sighed. "I only see her as a little sister."
"You already have so many women—what's one more?"
