Did You Send Me That Letter
"Sooner or later, it’ll happen," Sean Shaw answered with certainty.
"You..." Lily Bai pointed outside. "You go out first! Otherwise, my mother will see you and get upset all over again!"
Sean Shaw stepped out, looking a little aggrieved.
Lily Bai revived Clarissa Summers. As soon as she woke up, Clarissa grabbed Lily and demanded, "Lily Bai! Are you trying to drive me crazy?"
"Mother, weren’t you the one who kept nagging me to get married? One minute you’d say my junior brother is fine, the next you’d say Little Five is good. Now that I’m actually with him, you’re acting like this!"
"But now the one proposing is the Qilin Divine Lord! The Qilin Divine Lord wants to marry my daughter—how could I possibly let him go?" Clarissa’s face was full of dreamy longing. "If you marry him, I’ll get to see him all the time, talk to him! He’ll even call me ‘Mother’... Oh heavens, I’m going to faint!"
Lily glanced at her father Marcus White sitting nearby. "Mother, Father is sitting right next to you. Can’t you see him?"
Clarissa instantly sobered up, darted her eyes toward Marcus White, and gave an awkward but polite smile. "Uh! Little Fish’s dad, I just... I just..."
"You look perfectly fine to me!" Marcus White said, face dark. "Lily! Your father supports you! Just marry Little Five! I’ll make sure your wedding is lively and grand!"
With that, he strode out in a huff.
Lily looked at her mother and shrugged.
Clarissa asked miserably, "Are you really pregnant with his child?"
Lily looked troubled. "No..."
"You’re still lying to me!" Clarissa smacked Lily’s shoulder. "You silly girl! You’re not even married yet! How could you possibly be pregnant already?"
Lily: "...I really am not."
But Clarissa didn’t believe her, sighing weakly. "Fine! Let it be him, then. At least he’s good-looking. My grandchild will definitely be adorable."
Lily: "..."
"We’ve got to plan the wedding now! Hurry and pick a date! Don’t wait until your belly starts showing."
Lily: "..."
...
The two left Eastern Luo, heading to the Spirit Alliance to see Quentin Lian.
But just as they reached the Spirit Alliance gate, Sean Shaw suddenly pulled Lily Bai into invisibility.
"What’s wrong?" Lily Bai asked via voice transmission.
"Someone’s coming," Sean Shaw said, staring at the entrance.
"You’re always so sharp," Lily Bai said. "You know someone’s coming before they even arrive!"
"Mm-hmm." Sean Shaw looked at her. "That’s not the only area where I’m sensitive."
Lily Bai: "Oh? What else?"
"Can’t you feel it?" Sean Shaw smiled. "Just the right amount of..."
Lily Bai blushed. "If you’re so amazing, why didn’t you sense Prince Asher Xiao’s assassination attempt last time? You only noticed because I warned you! Hmph!"
"That’s because I was distracted," Sean Shaw replied.
"What were you thinking about then?"
Sean Shaw said, "You."
Lily Bai: "..."
As they spoke, someone really did arrive.
It was the Azure Dragon Lord!
At the Spirit Alliance entrance, he looked around, then concealed himself.
"He’s gone invisible," Sean Shaw frowned. "Can you still see him?"
Lily Bai opened her Heaven’s Eye, drew a talisman, pressed it to her forehead, and nodded. "He’s just waiting there, not doing anything. Like he’s waiting for someone?"
While they puzzled over it, Luna Lian contacted her.
Lily Bai walked away to answer, activating her Messenger Charm. "Lian-Lian."
"Little Fish, was it you who sent me that letter?" Luna Lian asked.
"Letter? What letter?" Lily Bai was confused. "I haven’t sent you any letters lately!"
