The Less You Know the Safer You Are

Leon Zane shrugged. "You used to call her that yourself! Chasing after her every day, calling her 'mother-in-law, mother-in-law.' I was embarrassed for you!"

Evan Xiao paused in silence, said nothing, and kept walking ahead.

Leon Zane's jaw dropped. He stared in surprise at Evan Xiao's back and whispered to Ian Zhu beside him, "Have you noticed something?"

"What is it?" Ian Zhu asked.

"His Highness has been acting weird these days!"

"How so?"

"Before, just mentioning those three words in front of him, he'd glare at me with those icy eyes. But lately, I've brought her up several times and he hasn't reacted at all!"

"Which three words?"

"Chloe Zhu."

"Oh..."

"And just now, I roasted him like that, but he didn't even get mad!"

Ian Zhu gave Leon Zane a look full of wisdom and courage. "Who or what is this 'Chloe Zhu'?"

"What do you mean 'what'?" Leon Zane shot him a glare. "She's a person! A person!"

"What kind of person? Why does His Highness get angry when he hears her name?"

"Forget it, let's go! It's safer for you to know less! Honestly, I'm worried he'll silence me one of these days..."

......

That night, Evan Xiao had a very vivid dream.

He dreamed that Chloe Zhu was wearing nothing but her underclothes—the same pale blue ones she wore the first time he met her—creeping quietly into his room.

Then she gave a wicked little smile and tackled him onto the bed.

And he—he felt as if Chloe Zhu had drugged him, his whole body unable to move.

"Evan Xiao, you're mine now!" That shameless woman kissed him right on the mouth!

The sensation... unbelievably soft, as if every pore in his body exploded.

Every meridian felt weak and limp...

Evan Xiao suddenly opened his eyes, realizing his heart was racing, his breath quick—and...

He pulled open his shirt and looked at his chest. Damn it, those six words appeared again!

He'd lived for a thousand years, and never had a dream like this before!

No! This isn't a dream! It can't be!

Maybe the Immortal Love Hex didn't completely eat away his feelings, and he was just remembering what happened before—otherwise, it wouldn't feel so real.

He must've been drugged by Chloe Zhu—that's how Ray came to be!

It must be!

That thought made Evan Xiao feel stifled.

He was the dignified Crown Prince of the Divine Clan, and he'd been utterly defeated by a mere human?

Where was the dignity of the Divine Clan?

He ought to kill her!

But... the Saint Maiden's poison—only she could cure it...

Evan Xiao felt restless, unable to sleep any longer, so he got up and paced around his bedroom.

Just then, there was a knock at the door, and a gentle, sweet female voice called out, "Your Highness, are you up? Do you need anything?"

There was a small pearl in the room, casting his shadow onto the gauzy door screen.

"No," Evan Xiao replied.

"Your Highness, you've had trouble sleeping lately, so I asked the High Priest for some Sleep Incense. Would you like me to light it for you?"

Evan Xiao rubbed his temples and said, "Come in."

A young woman in a red dress opened the door and walked in.

Her face was as flawless as jade, her figure graceful, and her eyes gentle as water.

She gave Evan Xiao a slight bow, then went to light the incense.

As she lit it, she said, "The High Priest said Your Highness can't sleep because you're under too much stress and worry."
