The True Power of the Silver-Spirit Sword

After dealing with the black-robed man, Evan Yang felt much more at ease. He left the formation and stepped outside—there was no one around, just the chaotic aftermath.

"They really left in a hurry," Evan muttered, then flashed away.

As for Hannah Nangong, she returned to Emerald Cloud Star with Evan. He told Hannah to stay put in a safe spot, while he went to the place he had agreed to meet Lora Luo.

"I thought you were going to run away," Lora Luo said when she saw Evan arrive.

"Run? I'm not that cowardly. Honestly, I don't want to keep fighting you. As for that treasure, I'll just let it go," Evan said.

"I told you already, whoever wins gets it," Lora replied.

"Really?" Evan asked.

"Would I lie about that?" Lora shot back, glaring at him.

"Alright, but you'd better remember what you said. If you try to take it back later, don't blame me for ignoring you—even if you search the whole Immortal Realm for me, I won't show up," Evan said.

"You think you can win? Ridiculous," Lora said.

"Talk is cheap—let's see what you can do," Evan said with a smile. Truthfully, it was easy for him to win against Lora.

Lora Luo thought Evan's strength was only at the Heavenly-Immortal level, so she didn't take him seriously.

"Fine, let's do it. Pick a place," Lora said.

"Anywhere's fine," Evan replied.

"Anywhere? Don't make it like last time," Lora said, annoyed as she remembered their previous location.

Evan thought for a moment, then decided to pick a large planet. The two asked around, finally chose a nearby big planet, and headed to a deserted area outside the city. They hovered mid-air, ready to begin.

Lora stared at Evan and said, "Let's start."

"Are you sure?" Evan asked.

"I'm sure," Lora replied.

"Alright, then admit defeat," Evan said, instantly flashing behind Lora.

Lora froze—she hadn't even seen how Evan moved. His speed was terrifying, but she refused to admit defeat. She quickly flashed and stared at Evan, demanding, "How did you do that?"

"Everyone has their secrets. I have mine, too—what do you think?" Evan said with a smile.

"I don't believe I can't beat you!" Lora said, then drew her Silver‑Spirit Sword and started attacking Evan.

Seeing her draw her sword, Evan shook his head helplessly. "Still not giving up?"

"You've never seen what I'm really capable of—how could I give up?" Lora protested, then began using her sword arts against Evan.

Her sword arts were much stronger than ordinary techniques, with clear amplification effects. Evan didn't bother to block—he relied entirely on speed, appearing one moment on one side, then another, until Lora was so frustrated her sword moves became chaotic.

"I think you should just put your sword away," Evan said, flashing to her side and gripping her sword so she couldn't swing it.

"Let go of me!" Lora was shocked at Evan getting so close—if he were an enemy, she'd be seriously injured by now.

"Let go? Admit defeat and I'll let you go," Evan said.

"You—!" Lora was stubborn, refusing to lose. "I haven't used my ultimate move yet. There's no way I'll lose."

"So if I let you use your ultimate move and you lose, you'll admit defeat?" Evan asked with a smile.

"Yeah," Lora said through gritted teeth.

"Alright, I'll give you one last chance," Evan said, still smiling.

Seeing Evan's confident smile, Lora was determined to prove herself. "Don't blame me for what happens next," she said.

Lora gripped her Silver‑Spirit Sword. Evan was curious if the sword had any special moves. Meanwhile, Lora thought, "Master said only Emperor‑Realm strength can unlock its true power. Otherwise, it's hard to control. But this guy is too arrogant today—if I just unlock a bit, I should be able to handle it."

Evan had no idea what Lora was muttering to herself.

Lora closed her eyes, placed one hand on the Silver‑Spirit Sword, and started chanting softly. Evan watched as the sword began to glow, the light growing brighter and brighter.

At first, Evan didn't think anything was wrong, but soon the light began to spread, slowly enveloping him.

Lora opened her eyes and saw that the light had covered Evan—but nothing happened. So she closed her eyes again and kept unlocking the sword's power.

Evan had no idea what she was doing and asked her, but she wouldn't answer.

Then Evan started to feel something was off—the light was getting sharper, almost painful.

"What the...?" Evan said, confused and wary.

Noticing Evan's discomfort, Lora opened her eyes and smiled. "Now you'll admit defeat—this is the true power of my Silver‑Spirit Sword, Silver Light’s Might."

"Silver Light’s Might? What about you? You're inside it too! Stop now, you can't control it," Evan warned, feeling the power grow stronger. With Lora's cultivation, she couldn't handle it.

Sure enough, Lora started to feel unwell. Evan's words and her master's warning echoed in her mind, making her hesitate. That hesitation only made things worse—the light grew stronger and slipped out of her control.

Lora panicked. "I can't control it anymore!"

She stayed close to the Silver‑Spirit Sword, but her hesitation made things worse—her body started bleeding in several places.

"Ah! Why is this happening?" Lora cried out in shock.

"Throw it away! Get out of there!" Evan shouted, alarmed by the situation. His body was tougher than Lora's, so he wasn't as badly affected.

Lora wanted to escape, but couldn't move at all. Evan also noticed he was starting to slow down.

"What is this light, anyway?" Evan exclaimed, shocked by the effect.

"It's Silver Light’s Might—the true power of the Silver‑Spirit Sword. It slows people down, but if you're not strong enough, you can't move at all," Lora said, panicking. Regret was useless now; she couldn't move a muscle.

Evan slowly made his way toward Lora. She saw how hard it was for him to move and felt conflicted—she'd wanted to defeat him, but now she needed his help.

"Give me your hand!" Evan said, stopping just within arm's reach.

"I can't move. You should just go," Lora said, gritting her teeth when she couldn't even lift her hand. "Go, quickly."

If Lora had kept arguing with Evan, he probably would have left. But she looked so helpless now, and Evan felt guilty—it was his fault she used the sword's power. "If we leave, we leave together," he said.

With effort, Evan forced himself a few more steps and reached Lora, planning to carry her out.

But as soon as he picked her up, he realized he couldn't move either—his whole body was locked in the sword's light.

"I told you to leave—why didn't you?" Lora said, noticing Evan was stuck too.

"What's the point of saying that now? Is there any way to break free?" Evan asked, holding Lora and feeling frustrated.

Lora was in Evan's arms—it was her first time being so close to a man. She felt something warm and intense inside, hard to describe.

"Hey, what's wrong? Don't tell me you can't even speak now," Evan said, startled when Lora just stared at him.

Lora snapped out of it. "No, it's not that. My master warned me not to use it unless I reached Emperor‑Realm strength. I thought just unlocking part of it would be okay, but it's completely out of control."

Evan sighed. "Did your master say how to break free?"

"No," Lora replied.

That only made Evan more frustrated. All he could do was try to leave the light, but even his mind couldn't control his tower now.

"Does this mean you can't use other treasures inside this light?" Evan asked, surprised.

"That's right. Besides slowing and harming people, it also blocks the use of treasures," Lora replied.

Evan was even more depressed—he couldn't even use his most useful tower. Was he just going to wait here to die?

Evan was frustrated—he was used to immobilizing others, but now he was the one stuck. It felt like he was frozen in place, unable to move up or down. It was bizarre.

"You can't even break it, yet you dared to use it?" Evan Yang was genuinely exasperated with Lora Luo.

"How was I supposed to know it would turn out like this?" Lora Luo replied gloomily, as blood slowly began to seep from her wounds.

Seeing this, Evan released a stream of qi from within, wrapping it around Lora Luo to staunch her bleeding.

Lora Luo was stunned. "Why are you helping me?"

"No particular reason. Let's focus on getting out of here first." Evan Yang had no idea how long his Heaven-Cold qi could last; if it couldn't withstand the ravages of time, both of them would end up shattered and dead.

Hearing Evan's words, Lora Luo felt a complicated surge of emotion. But there was nothing she could do—she could only nestle helplessly in Evan's arms, unable to move.

The silver radiance outside grew ever brighter and wilder, completely out of control. When the two were nearly at their limits and even the Heaven-Cold qi was almost exhausted, a thunderous explosion erupted.

Both of them lost consciousness; as for what happened next, neither had any idea.

Until Evan heard a woman's voice: "Wake up."

Evan slowly opened his eyes and saw a familiar face—it was Lora Luo. He sat up and realized he was still alive, and so was Lora, but the surroundings had changed: mist shrouded them on all sides.

"Where are we?" Evan asked.

"I don't know. The Silver‑Spirit Sword sensed my agony and brought us here," Lora Luo answered.

"The Silver‑Spirit Sword?" Evan asked suspiciously.

"That's right. There's a sword spirit inside the Silver‑Spirit Sword. Even though I can't fully control it, the sword spirit has a faint sense of compassion toward me. So, when I'm in extreme danger, it sometimes acts on its own and does incredible things," Lora Luo explained.

"So that's how it is. If I'd known, I wouldn't have tried to save you—now I'm stuck here too," Evan said offhandedly after hearing this.

"I thought you were genuinely kind, but it turns out you're still like this. Hmph, let's see how you get out of here," Lora Luo snorted, her brief good impression of Evan sinking again.

"What kind of place is this, anyway?" Evan asked curiously after hearing her words.

"I have no idea," Lora Luo replied.

"Then ask your sword spirit," Evan suggested.

"It just used its power to bring us here, so it's exhausted and sleeping now," Lora Luo replied.
