"What nonsense are you talking about?" Molly Yun glared at her, then said awkwardly, "I just think, whether his intentions are genuine or not, they deserve respect. This contract was originally supposed to be signed by Rona Muir. If she hadn't been so caught up having fun outside, I wouldn't have gotten involved. Now that you're back as the general manager, it's only right for you to take over."
"Sis, don't change the subject." Cecilia Gu looked seriously at Molly Yun. "Are you feeling sorry for him?"
Molly Yun was left speechless by the question.
Cecilia Gu immediately understood.
She took Molly Yun's hand and said softly, "I get it. I'll handle things from here. Sis, don't see him anymore. People say I'm soft-hearted, but honestly, you're even softer than me."
Molly Yun pursed her lips and smiled, "No one understands me better than you, Cici."
"Of course, we're twins, born from the same soul." Cecilia Gu patted the back of Molly Yun's hand and said, "Is it because he looks just like you did when you were dying, that's why you can't help feeling sorry for him?"
Molly Yun didn't say anything.
"Alright, alright, I won't say anymore." Cecilia Gu said, "I'm heading to the hospital now. Call me if anything comes up."
"Okay." Molly Yun nodded.
Cecilia Gu headed straight for the hospital. As soon as she arrived, she saw Adrian just coming out of the emergency room.
His face looked even paler than before, so white it was almost bloodless, like a corpse.
"Doctor, how is he?" Cecilia Gu hurried over when she saw the doctor come out.
The doctor took off his mask and said, "Why does he take such poor care of himself? After all these repeated incidents, even a strong body couldn't take it."
Cecilia Gu just lowered her head and didn't answer.
"The effects of the medicine have worn off, so he's fine now, but he'll be very weak for a while." The doctor sighed. "Good thing the drug wasn't too strong. Otherwise, he might not have made it."
"Thank you, doctor." Cecilia Gu saw the doctor off, then turned and went to the ward. Looking at the handsome, quiet man lying in bed, she couldn't believe he'd actually fallen for her sister.
Then again, her sister was so outstanding—even with a different body, she still shone brightly.
Guess the kid has good taste.
Her sister had even charmed Cecilia Gu herself, so suddenly this guy didn't seem so annoying anymore.
Adrian slowly opened his eyes. Too exhausted, he closed them again, rested for a while, and then opened them once more.
He turned and saw Cecilia Gu, giving a bitter smile. "Miss Gu."
"You're awake?" Cecilia Gu pulled up a chair and sat down beside him, looking at Adrian. "You're something else, huh? Actually fell for my sister. What, you want to be my brother-in-law?"
Adrian unexpectedly laughed, "I thought you'd scold me, call me shameless, say I'm a toad lusting after a swan, that I don't know my place, or that I've got no shame."
"I did want to scold you," Cecilia Gu admitted honestly. "But, I think you have good taste. My sister really is that amazing."
Adrian laughed again, "You sisters have a really unique bond."
"Yeah, she and I are inseparable." Cecilia Gu's smile faded. "I'm here to officially let you know—the Jade Petal Naturals contract is now in my hands. Once you're better, we'll sign it. After that, you can go home. Don't come back again."
"Are you kicking me out?" Adrian gave another bitter smile.
"Pretty much." Cecilia Gu nodded, deciding to be blunt. "Your feelings for her are a burden for both of you. Your body can't handle all this drama, and my sister's life is good as it is—she doesn't want any trouble."
"Cecilia, you've tasted the pain of wanting something you couldn't have. Why can't you be more forgiving with me?" Adrian interrupted weakly. "Back when you were with Charles Yin, weren't there all kinds of obstacles? But you two still made it. Now it's my turn—why can't I fight for it too?"
"I'm not like you. First, Charles and I truly love each other. Second, we've always been legally married. Third, any obstacles between us could be overcome." Cecilia Gu raised three fingers. "But you? My sister doesn't like you, that's for sure. It's just your one-sided crush. My sister and her husband have a great relationship, and that's never going to change. So you don't stand a chance."
"Your health isn't good either. This kind of thing does you no favors," Cecilia said. "I'm honestly thinking about what's best for you!"
"Did Molly put you up to this?" Adrian gave a bitter smile. "I get it. I won't bother her anymore."
With that, Adrian turned his head away, showing he didn't want to talk anymore.
Cecilia Gu sighed. "Get some rest."
With that, she got up and left the ward.
Wendy was waiting outside. Hearing the sounds from inside, she couldn't help gossiping, "Mrs. Yin, is that man chasing Mrs. Jiang?"
Cecilia looked helplessly at her assistant. "Yeah, when I first heard about it, I thought it was unbelievable too. My sister's always been kind, but it's the first time I've seen a guy fall head over heels after just a few meetings. No wonder she wanted me to handle this—it's a delicate situation. Adrian's from a well-known Mexican family; if we treat him badly, it'll be awkward if we ever meet his relatives. But if we don't reject him, letting him keep chasing a hopeless dream, that's just hurting him more."
Wendy chuckled, "What can you do? The Yun women are just too amazing. Back in the day, even Mr. Mo..."
Wendy suddenly realized she'd said too much and quickly covered her mouth.
Cecilia Gu glared at her. "Good thing Charles isn't here, or he'd be jealous all over again."
Wendy laughed so hard her eyes turned into little crescents.
Cecilia hadn't been back at the office long when a call summoned her to the hospital again.

"What happened now?" Cecilia Gu frowned, a trace of irritation in her voice. "He was fine when I left, wasn't he?"
The emergency room light came on.
A nurse explained to Cecilia, "We don't know either. Suddenly his vital signs became unstable. Before we could call the doctor, he lost consciousness. His heart rate dropped to thirty, blood pressure to fifty, so we rushed him into the ER."
Cecilia sat down on a bench in the hallway, unable to figure out why things had suddenly turned out this way.
Wendy, beside her, seemed to think of something and whispered to Cecilia, "Mrs. Yin, do you think he wants to die because Mrs. Jiang rejected him? Is he set on ending it all?"
"That... I don't know about that," Cecilia said, uncertain herself.
If that's really the case, if Adrian died because of this, her sister would probably blame herself for a long time.
"Honestly, I kind of get what Mr. Adrian is thinking." Wendy, who was already married, chatted easily with Cecilia about it. "No wonder Mrs. Jiang feels so sorry for him. Think about it—a person who's been told since birth he won't live long, locked away in a tiny courtyard or even just a room, only ever seeing a handful of people, either caretakers or doctors. Decades go by, and there's not even anyone to talk to. Life gets lonely. Then one day, someone comes along who really gets you. Of course you'd pour all your feelings into them. If they're the same gender, you become best friends; if they're the opposite, it's natural to develop feelings."
Cecilia Gu nodded thoughtfully.
"Mr. Adrian may have only met Mrs. Jiang a few times, but they share similar experiences! It's no wonder he'd fall for her. When you have that kind of connection, you just instantly get each other. Isn't that what they call 'kindred spirits'? If I were Mr. Adrian, I'd fall for Mrs. Jiang too! She's smart, gentle, warm—she understands you with just a look, no need for words. Mrs. Yin, who wouldn't be moved by such a beautiful love?" Wendy gossiped for once.
"Oh, so that's how you and little A hit it off back then?" Cecilia teased her.
"Mrs. Yin, we're analyzing here!" Wendy blushed for once. "Don't change the subject!"
"Alright, alright, you're right about everything," Cecilia said. "But what does it matter? He and my sister could never happen!"
Wendy looked regretful. "Yeah."
Just then, the doctor rushed out the door.
Cecilia Gu hurried to meet him. "Doctor, how is he?"
"No, the patient's condition is very serious," the doctor said gravely. "If he doesn't regain consciousness today, I'm afraid he won't make it past tomorrow morning!"
Cecilia Gu straightened her shoulders instinctively. "Doctor, is there anything I can do? I'll cooperate as best I can!"
"The patient has lost the will to live. Even the best medicine can't bring someone back from the brink if they don't want to fight. Is there something weighing on his mind?" The doctor looked at Cecilia. "If so, you need to resolve it quickly. Otherwise..."
Cecilia understood the doctor's unspoken meaning.
Cecilia immediately called Molly Yun. "Sis, things aren't looking good here. Mr. Adrian wants to die. The doctor says if he doesn't wake up by tomorrow morning, he won't make it."
Molly Yun's hand gripped the chair tightly. "What did you say?"
"Only the one who tied the knot can untie it. I don't think I can do it," Cecilia said. "If he dies here, we won't be able to explain to his family."
Molly Yun slumped against the wall, completely lost.
She didn't want to go.
She was afraid of giving Adrian too much hope.
But if she didn't go, she'd feel guilty.
After all, it's a life at stake!
Besides, she didn't really dislike Adrian.
Go, or not go?
