As If Burning in Fire

Evan Lin had no way of knowing what Lynn Chen and Wendy Wen talked about, and even if he did, he’d probably just toss it out of his mind.

After leaving the school gates, Evan pulled out his phone and called Warren Wu.

Warren Wu sounded a bit worried when he picked up.

He was now the Valley Master of Medicine King Valley. Even if his strength was lacking, the fact that he’d entered Medicine King Valley alongside Master Lin from Seacrest, and was personally appointed as the new Valley Master by Master Lin, meant a lot.

Thanks to Evan Lin’s overwhelming deterrent power, nobody in Medicine King Valley dared defy him. After Warren spent a good while reorganizing the sect behind closed doors, he finally managed to secure his position.

“Master Mo Yang has already arrived at the Zuo family in River City. He’s clearly here for you. Luckily you’re still in Jinnan, so maybe—for now—don’t go back?” Warren Wu spoke cautiously. “Master Mo Yang was unrivaled even before his long seclusion, and he’s definitely stronger now. If you fight him at your age, you’ll be at a huge disadvantage. I think he’s doing this on purpose!”

“And that war post he sent you is honestly a joke—not at all how a real master should act!”

At this point, Warren Wu was clearly a bit annoyed.

Mo Yang’s been famous for decades—who knows how old he is now? Meanwhile, Evan Lin isn’t even eighteen yet.

That age difference shows up most obviously in their strength.

No matter how dazzling Evan Lin’s performance has been, he’s still lived decades less and eaten decades fewer meals. If it comes down to a fight, who wins is anyone’s guess.

If someone else wanted to challenge Evan Lin, Warren Wu would probably be happy to watch from the sidelines and even use the chance to show off a bit.

But Mo Yang...

He’s a living legend.

Warren Wu just couldn’t be sure—and he was really worried.

“You’re afraid I’ll lose?” Evan Lin said calmly.

“No, it’s just... I’m not really sure,” Warren Wu sighed.

“That’s not something you need to worry about,” Evan replied coolly. “Besides, Mo Yang is nothing special—I don’t even take him seriously.”

I don’t care how he once dominated Seacrest or made Jinnan bow to him. If he wants a fight, I’ll give him a fight. If he’s a legend, I’ll shatter that legend with my own hands.

There was a new edge of arrogance in Evan’s voice.

Now that he’d been reborn to this point, only Mo Yang managed to spark Evan’s interest.

A master who’s broken through the Vajra Realm and reached the Pointing-to-Mystery level—what kind of mysteries that realm holds is exactly what Evan cares about. Besides that, he also wants to know more about the martial world of this world.

Maybe Mo Yang can shed some light on that.

“Yes, I was out of line.” Warren Wu quickly corrected himself after hearing Evan’s words.

Even through the phone, he could feel Evan’s powerful confidence, which instantly set Warren Wu’s mind at ease.

“Check with the Miracle Hand Sect—see if the Earthfire Stone, golden-nanmu wood, and thousand-jin Blackiron I asked for last time are ready. Also, I need you to prepare some medicinal herbs for me. I’ll send you the list in a bit.”

“I want everything done by the time I arrive tomorrow.”

After Evan finished speaking and hung up, Warren Wu had already replied by the time Evan got home—the Earthfire Stone, golden-nanmu wood, and thousand-jin Blackiron were all ready.

Evan then wrote down the names of some herbs and sent them to Warren Wu, asking him to prepare them as soon as possible.

After a quick packing job at home, Evan slung his backpack over his shoulder and headed out.

It took Evan half a day to get from Capitalview to the Miracle Hand Sect.

Around nine the next morning, Evan finally arrived at Hillview Gully. As soon as he stepped into the woods, he saw Warren Wu waiting, along with the scruffy Alex Fu and the cool beauty Celine Lin.

“Master Lin!”

Warren Wu was the first to greet Evan, hurrying forward, his face full of excitement.

“Mm.”

Evan gave a slight nod. “Everything ready?”

“All ready. As you requested, we’ve prepared five hundred-year Crimson Blood Astragalus roots and five Azureleaf Violet Lotus plants. Because time was short, this was all we could gather for now,” Celine Lin said with a smile.

She was even more radiant than before, her figure graceful—clearly, she’d taken the Youth-Preserving Beauty Pill Evan had given her.

Celine hadn’t expected much from the pill, but Evan’s strength had completely won her over. The day after Evan left the Miracle Hand Sect, she took the pill—and its effects were extraordinary.

Now, seeing Evan arrive, Celine’s face was all smiles, her gaze soft as water.

“The Earthfire Stone, golden-nanmu wood, and thousand-jin Blackiron are all ready too, but…” Alex Fu hesitated, finally looking at Evan and saying, “Ever since you left, the temperature inside the Miracle Hand Pavilion has shot up. Nobody can stay inside, and it’s even hard to get close…”

The Miracle Hand Pavilion is one of the sect’s most important places—pills refined there have a higher success rate.

Now that the Miracle Hand Pavilion is unusable, Miracle Hand Sect’s strength has taken a major hit. Even though Evan left them the Heart Sutra of the Pill Master, some Doctors still aren’t happy.

Without the pavilion, it’s like losing their pill furnace. Just having pill-refining techniques isn’t enough.

“Don’t worry about that.”

Evan shook his head and walked forward.

Warren Wu and the others followed alongside him. Quite a few Miracle Hand Sect members peeked out, watching curiously.

Not everyone had seen Evan before. Most Miracle Hand Sect members only knew the sect had changed hands, and that a powerful figure had slain Master Weiyao.

But when they saw Evan surrounded by Warren Wu, Alex Fu, and Celine Lin, some of them looked confused.

They thought Evan looked far too young.

“The merger between Medicine King Valley and Miracle Hand Sect is going smoothly. I’ve selected twenty talented disciples from the Valley to come here and train as full-time alchemists,” Warren Wu reported quietly.

“Good. Let’s go inside.”

Evan led the group into the Miracle Hand Pavilion.

As soon as he entered, Evan felt the temperature inside was much higher than outside.

Even Evan felt a wave of heat wash over him.

“Master Lin, can you handle this?” Warren Wu asked nervously.

“No problem,” Evan replied calmly.

He stepped forward and, with a flick of his sleeve, a cool breeze swept through the pavilion, instantly lowering the temperature.
