Why Bother, Why Suffer

12/7/2025

Silvermoon City was in a panic. Squads of elven soldiers hurriedly donned their ornate armor and rushed out of the barracks, heading straight for the Well of Destiny. Whatever was happening there—unless you were blind or deaf—there was no way you could miss it. Actually, even the blind and deaf would sense it.

The tidal wave of magical energy surging in from all directions was just too terrifying. Any creature with the slightest bit of magical sense would feel their hair standing on end, panic-stricken, as if an apocalypse was about to hit.

If magical power had its own 'rank,' then Galadriel was definitely at the top tier.

Meanwhile, Rachel Luo was running through the forest, tears streaming down her face. The vision she’d just seen in the Well of Destiny was so real—way beyond just an 'image.' It wasn’t just something for her to 'see,' it was something to 'feel.' All the emotions packed into that vision were dumped straight into her heart. It was as if those things had truly happened, and she’d simply forgotten, only to remember it all in a flash.

So, even though she kept telling herself it was fake, Rachel Luo just couldn’t fight off the flood of sadness. She was like a lost child on the road of life, not knowing—or even caring—where she was, where she was going, or where she wanted to end up. All she could do was grip the hilt of her Frostbell Sword tightly, as if it were the only thing she could rely on right now.

Just then, a terrifying aura erupted from the depths of the dense forest behind her.

Thump—except it wasn’t an external sound, it came from Rachel Luo’s own chest. Her heart was jolted by that wild energy, pounding so hard it made her scalp tingle and her pupils contract. Instinctively, she spun around to look behind her.

There, in the direction of the Well of Destiny, it looked like a hundred flashbangs had gone off at once. Blinding white light instantly pierced the darkness, flooding everything and radiating terrifying energy, turning the deep Silvermoon Woods as bright as broad daylight.

"This—this is... it’s her!" No doubt about it, that aura could only belong to the elven queen! Who would’ve thought she’d have such power, strong enough to rival gods and demons!

White light surged, sometimes strong, sometimes weak. The roar of a waterfall echoed through the sky, like a raging ocean had suddenly appeared in the forest—and in that sea, two dragons were locked in a death match. Faint screams drifted from afar, unmistakably Galadriel’s voice.

Who could force Queen Galadriel to such extremes?

Rachel Luo could only think of one person.

Master! It's Master! It must be him! Rachel Luo's heart suddenly lit up: "That's it, Master must've been there all along. Otherwise, why would my Frostbell Sword suddenly start ringing, warning me? If Master hadn't secretly stepped in, how could I have gotten away so easily, without anyone stopping me? It had to be Master—he's always been looking out for me!"

A sudden warmth flooded her heart, sweeping away every bit of negativity. Rachel Luo felt power surge through her: "Uh-oh, with all this ruckus, the enemy's bound to send reinforcements. I gotta get over there and help!"

Rachel Luo gathered her internal energy and shot forward, darting along the branches toward the source of the light. The forest was full of shifting shadows, and in the cracks between them, she heard the clatter of armored leaves. She knew those were the elven guards on the move. She'd learned by now that elves weren't pushovers—their senses were sharp, their movements quick, and they were as tough as any third-rate martial artist from the Jianghu. With a bit of training, they could get even stronger. Definitely not folks you want to mess with.

Now that they were rolling out in force, you just knew something big and bad was about to go down.

But when trouble hits, a real expert doesn't lose their cool. After all the ups and downs, with danger everywhere, Rachel Luo's mind magically calmed down. She pushed her Insight Technique to the max—and then broke right through it. Suddenly, the whole world got sharper. Her Bright Jade Technique kicked in, and with the Insight Technique boosting her, her internal energy shot up to a whole new level.

It felt just like back when Jack Young led her and her fellow disciple on the run from Moonlight Palace, all those forest survival tricks flooding back. Chilly true energy flowed through her veins as Rachel Luo fired up every lightness skill she had, zigzagging and curving her way toward the Well of Destiny.

Up ahead, the light kept flickering, showing just how fierce the fight was. Rachel Luo had no idea what she'd do once she got there, or if she'd even be able to help, but this flood of emotion kept her moving—she couldn't stop. She was only halfway there when, out of nowhere, it was like a supernova went off. The light blasted through everything, way brighter than before, and Rachel Luo had to duck her head, squeeze her eyes shut, and throw up a hand to block it.

She was quick on the draw, but her eyes still ended up red and swollen, tears streaming down from the crazy-bright light. If she hadn't trained her eye techniques, she'd be blind for sure. With everything so blinding, she couldn't see a thing and had to stop. But after that burst of super-bright light, it collapsed in on itself, faded fast, and then—whoosh—went out completely.
