Everyone's Pulse Signature Is Unique
Grace's eyes widened in shock. "...Wife?"
The woman nodded slightly and said, "Can we talk?"
As she spoke, she sat down on the stone bench under the shade of a tree in the courtyard.
She sat where Evan Xiao usually did, and gestured for Grace to sit as well.
Grace took a deep breath and walked over.
She studied Grace's face, then suddenly gave a bitter smile and said, "You really are beautiful."
Grace said nothing.
"I'm his cousin. We got married when we were thirteen," the woman continued. "But he's always treated me like a sister."
This woman's features really did resemble Evan Xiao's.
Was it because they were cousins?
"But I never imagined he would actually want an amicable separation," the woman said, her eyes dim. "Because of this, the whole family is in chaos."
Grace looked at her, still silent.
"Sister, may I call you that?" the woman asked again.
"I'd rather you didn't! Just call me Miss Grace."
"Miss Grace, could you become his concubine?" the woman said sincerely. "If he keeps stirring things up like this, not only will his mother be in trouble, but it will be very bad for him too."
"Are you really his wife?"
The woman nodded. "Yes! I know he's been hiding it from you, but please don't blame him. He probably likes you so much that he's afraid of losing you."
"Is that so?" Grace scrutinized her.
"Miss Grace, I truly mean no harm. I just hope you'll consider him! And I promise, even if you become his concubine, you'll be treated as my equal. Would that be alright?"
"And Evan Xiao? Where is he?"
"He..." The woman glanced toward the house.
Grace got up and went inside, only to find Evan Xiao was already there.
He stood there, his expression complicated.
"Evan Xiao," Grace called. "I just want to ask you one thing—is she really your wife?"
Evan Xiao shot the woman a cold look and said, "Who told you to meddle? My affairs are my own to handle."
"Husband..."
"Don't call me husband! I will divorce you and marry the woman I truly love." With that, Evan Xiao turned to Grace. "Grace, don't worry. I promised to marry you openly, and I will! I'll take responsibility for you."
As he spoke, he reached out to take Grace's hand.
Grace looked down at his hand, then slowly gripped his wrist and said, word by word, "Evan Xiao, you don't need to bother with divorce anymore. From now on, our relationship is over—completely and forever!"
With that, she forcefully threw off his hand and turned to leave.
"Grace! Listen to me!"
Evan Xiao seemed about to chase after her, but his 'wife' stopped him and said, "Miss Grace has just learned the truth about your marriage. She probably can't accept it right now. Let her calm down and think it over! Don't make things worse..."
So Evan Xiao didn't go after her...
...
If this Evan Xiao were really the true Evan Xiao, Grace probably would have parted ways with him for good.
But he wasn't.
In this world, everyone's pulse signature is absolutely unique.
Evan Xiao's is deep, slow, and full of strength.
Yet, when Grace grabbed the wrist of the 'Evan Xiao' who hurt her father, she sensed his pulse signature was completely different!
He wasn't Evan Xiao at all!
Grace didn't leave the manor immediately.
She went to look for Shannon first.
But Shannon wasn't there.
So she headed toward the Outer Court.
