Evan Lin glanced at the middle-aged man and smiled, "Is the lord really planning to force me to go? My strength may not match yours, but if you truly try something, I won't back down."
"Kid, you dare spout such nonsense in front of me? You really don't know your place. Sure, your talent's decent, but your attitude is way too arrogant. Even if you joined the City Lord, you'd just betray him sooner or later. So for someone like you, it's best to kill you before you have a chance to grow." The middle-aged man said scornfully.
"Lord, why bother using a sledgehammer to kill a chicken? My brother and I can handle this brat ourselves. Killing trash like him would only dirty your hands." One of the guards immediately stepped in front of Evan Lin and said.
Evan Lin absolutely despised this kind of bootlicking attitude. In his heart, he'd already sentenced all three of them to death. Still, he knew he had to finish this quickly—if a real powerhouse got alerted, things could get messy.
"My life is right here. If you want it, come and take it. But let me warn you—if you really do something stupid, you'll regret it soon enough." Evan Lin said with a faint smile.
"Regret? Let's see if that's true today!" The God-Man guard rolled his eyes at Evan Lin, clearly seeing him as a dead man and not the slightest threat.
Evan Lin's mind moved, and the Frostbane Divine Sword appeared in his hand. He knew that not many people recognized this sword yet—only top experts would know it, and that could expose his identity. So from now on, he'd have to use it less, maybe even stop using it entirely, unless his strength became truly overwhelming.
Striking first was always Evan Lin's specialty. With a thought, he unleashed Divine Cleave in a flash. Now, his internal energy was Chaos Divine Power—so much stronger than his old Chaos Immortal Force that even the Unicorn Arm couldn't compare to the power he could unleash now.
And now, he was at late-stage God-Man strength, able to break through to Heavenly God at any moment. Killing a Heavenly God was easy for him. This attack came so fast it was like lightning—his powerful sword-qi struck at the God-Man with thunderous force.
Before the God-Man could even react, Evan Lin's overwhelming sword-qi was already at his doorstep. Dodging was impossible now—the space around his body had been locked down by sword-qi. All he could do was resist, but a hasty defense was nothing more than a mantis trying to stop a cart.
