Chapter 121: Frightened (Support the story!)
"Why?" William Merlin instantly grew anxious. Soth was his last lifeline in Seaview City—if even Soth couldn't help him, he'd be forced to confront Leon head-on.
"William, I have some matters to attend to, so I can't stay. When you return, please give my regards to your father." Soth's voice carried a hint of apology. Truthfully, Soth regretted not being able to help William Merlin—he couldn't repay the favor, nor could he forge ties with the Merlin Family.
But compared to becoming an enemy of that Merlin Archmage, Soth would rather live with regret.
Soth managed an awkward smile, then stepped out of the wooden cabin.
"G-Grand Mage Bell, what... what happened here?" William Merlin stood frozen for a long moment before finally stammering at Bell.
"Less than a month ago, Matthew Merlin came to Venomfog Gorge, killed over a dozen people, blew up two watchtowers, and forced Soth to give up a trade route."
With that, Bell left as well...
Inside the spacious wooden cabin, only William Merlin remained. Firewood crackled in the fireplace, filling the room with warmth despite the winter outside—but right now, William Merlin felt only a chill in his hands and feet.
The cousin he'd always looked down on was actually someone even Soth feared.
That was Soth...
The leader of Seaview City's most powerful underground organization, with thousands of loyal subordinates—yet just hearing Matthew Merlin's name made him shriek in terror.
William Merlin thought the world must have gone mad...
After returning to Seaview City, William Merlin didn't rush home. Suddenly, he realized he knew absolutely nothing about his cousin.
Now that Soth had refused to help, the upcoming negotiations would depend entirely on him.
Honestly, when it came to facing his cousin, he had no confidence at all...
But things had come to this—confidence or not, all he could do now was learn more about his cousin.
So, William Merlin spent the entire afternoon wandering most of Seaview City, asking about everything related to his cousin.

While William Merlin wandered around Seaview City, Leon was hard at work in the Gilded Rose.
