Arrival of a Powerhouse

2/27/2026

"I don't believe this is true divine power. Your avatar can't take me down." Evan Yang laughed, guessing that the real God must be busy with something—otherwise, he wouldn't let Evan get away with this.

"Don't get too arrogant, or you won't even know how you died," the avatar sneered.

"Is that so? Then I'll be arrogant. Come on!" Evan Yang grinned, accepting the challenge.

"Hmph, then you're courting death!" The avatar struck out again, and in an instant their location was exposed. Nearby buildings were damaged, and crowds quickly gathered to watch the fight.

In the crowd, someone muttered, "Finally found him—he was really hard to track down."

Evan Yang had no idea another group was watching him. He kept fighting the avatar for a while, until the avatar was battered and left, threatening, "Kid, wait for it—next time we meet, it'll be your death day."

Seeing the avatar leave, Evan wasn't foolish enough to stay. He turned and headed out of the city.

Once outside the city, Evan Yang released Ember Yang and the others.

"How did we end up outside the city?" Lynn Lin asked, confused.

Evan Yang chuckled, "What, you'd rather stay in the city and wait for the God to come find you?"

"God? What God?" Lynn Lin exclaimed.

"The ones who just caught us were princes of this imperial capital, and there's a God stationed here. We just ran into his avatar—that's how we escaped," Evan Yang laughed.

"That was close! How did we run into the imperial capital's God right after arriving?" Lynn Lin grumbled.

"Every imperial capital is usually guarded by a being with God-level strength—running into one now and then is normal," Melody Wood said with a smile.

"Speaking of Gods, the divine power inside you is temporarily sealed by me. I need to find a way to help you unlock it, or you'll always have your strength sealed," Evan Yang said, thinking of Melody's current state.

"It's fine—this feels pretty good too," Melody Wood smiled.

"How is that good? Without your help, he's missing a major ally. So you'd better hurry up and recover," Lynn Lin laughed.

"I'm here too!" Ember Yang said in her childish voice.

"You're just a little kid—how old are you anyway?" Lynn Lin teased.

"Doesn't matter how old I am—power is what counts," Ember Yang muttered.

"Alright, alright, you're amazing. I admit defeat," Lynn Lin sighed.

Seeing this group, Evan Yang felt helpless. Just then, a provocative aura arrived from the forest ahead.

"Looks like more trouble is coming," Evan Yang laughed.

"What's going on? Is that God chasing us?" Lynn Lin looked around nervously.

"No, it seems to be another group. I'll go check it out. You all should enter my treasure," Evan Yang said after thinking for a moment.

"No way! It's so boring inside—one day outside is fifty days inside. I can't stand it!" Ember Yang protested, unable to bear boredom.

"Alright, fine, I'll bring you. But you have to listen to me—if anything happens, I'll make you enter the space, and you must obey. Got it?" Evan Yang said helplessly.

"Okay," Ember Yang nodded.

"Alright, let's go," Evan Yang said, then led Ember Yang and the others toward the aura, arriving at a forest and finally reaching a cliff with an open area in front.

This open area feels like a battlefield, and from above you can hear ghostly wails from below.

"What is this place? It's terrifying!" Lynn Lin exclaimed.

"This is Ghostcry Gorge. Years ago, two Gods fought here, each with Immortal Sovereigns and experts. They tore open the canyon, turning it into a blood-soaked valley with countless casualties. The strange winds make eerie sounds—that's why it's called Ghostcry Gorge," Melody Wood explained.

"Just hearing about it is scary," Lynn Lin said, trembling. Ember Yang muttered, "Sounds fun. Are Gods really that powerful?"

"Of course, but compared to how strong you'll be when you grow up, they're nothing," Melody Wood laughed.

Just then, a man descended from the sky and laughed, "You'd better put your companions away."

"Did you send people to lure me here?" Evan Yang asked, seeing that the man wasn't a villain and wouldn't attack him, and was considerate enough to let him put Lynn Lin and the others away.

"That's right, it was me. I don't want to hurt anyone else, and Ghostcry Gorge has a barrier left by two Gods—inside, battles won't affect the outside," the man laughed.

"I don't know you—why did you lure me here?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"Because someone wants you dead, so I naturally drew you out," the man laughed.

"Someone wants me dead? Who?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

"You don't need to know. I'll tell you at the very end, so you can die without regrets," the man laughed.

Evan Yang laughed, "I'm afraid I might slip up and kill you before I get the answer."

At those words, the man's aura exploded—powerful, but not the strongest Evan had ever faced. He wasn't worried, and sent Ember Yang and the others into his treasure.

Ember Yang was reluctant, but accepted anyway.

Inside the Strange Spiral Shell, Ember Yang asked suspiciously, "Who is that guy? Why is he after Dad?"

"Don't worry about it," Lynn Lin said anxiously, feeling the terrifying aura. Melody Wood comforted her, "It's fine, he'll hold out."

"No problem, I'm here too. If Dad can't win, I'll go out and burn him to death," Ember Yang said.

"You're still too young—don't think about such things," Melody Wood said.

Outside, Evan Yang stepped into the barrier inside the cliff, created by the Gods. Facing the man, he smiled, "You picked a good spot, and your aura's not bad either."

"Of course—how else could I take you down?" the man laughed.

"Alright, since you won't tell me who you are, I'll just force it out myself," Evan Yang said.

At this moment, Evan Yang had been through plenty of battles, experienced and sharp, but the man before him had survived even more—he'd walked the edge of life and death many times.

The man drew a flute, and as he played, a powerful sound burst forth. Evan Yang was startled, quickly shielding himself and stacking twenty layers of defense to block the attack.

"Your flute's power really is incredible," Evan Yang laughed.

"You're not bad either—it's been ages since anyone blocked my attack without any artifacts," the man laughed.

"Is that so? You're a worthy opponent," Evan Yang smiled, seeing the man wasn't some schemer, just confused why he was targeted. Still, it was a fight worth having.

The man looked at Evan Yang and said, "Thanks for the compliment. Come on, bring out your artifact—don't fight empty-handed. You're no match for me like this."

"Alright, I'll use this spear against you," Evan Yang said, summoning the Limitless Spear.

"A spear against my flute? I'm curious to see how you'll handle it," the man laughed.

The man's voice sounded again. This time, Evan Yang used the Limitless Spear to create barriers up ahead, then launched an attack.

The sound shattered Evan Yang's barriers one after another, while the Limitless Spear nearly reached the man's face.

The man quickly retreated, intensifying his attack. Both fighters fell back.

"Remarkable," Evan Yang laughed.

"Your spear's impressive too—it's actually able to counter my sound," the man said curiously.

"Just missed it. Let's keep going," Evan Yang smiled.

The man was curious about the Limitless Spear's other abilities. As the two clashed, Evan Yang's spear suddenly burst into flames.

"So that's it—your artifact can use elemental powers," the man laughed. His flute produced a sound imbued with water element.

The water element vibrated with the sound, powerful enough to influence the direction of the flames.

"That's possible?" Evan Yang exclaimed in surprise.

"Careful, don't get burned by your own fire," the man laughed.

Evan Yang saw his flames change direction, coming at him. He quickly layered ice and fire on himself, using ice to block the redirected flames.

Seeing Evan Yang could use ice, the man was stunned, then laughed, "You have dual attributes?"

"Something like that," Evan Yang laughed.

"You'd better watch out—your ice can be shattered by my sound," the man said, sending his attack. The ice cracked and broke instantly.

Evan Yang frowned, "You've got some tricks."

After being countered several times, Evan Yang was surprised and started thinking of another way.

How could he nullify that sound? He thought about Melody Wood's zither, but couldn't call her out.

Evan Yang decided to handle it himself, using both fire and water together.

Different elements had different properties. Seeing both fire and water coming at him, the man was surprised, then retreated, wrapping himself in sound and breaking through each attack.

Noticing the man couldn't handle both elements at once, Evan Yang laughed, "Looks like you have a weakness after all."

"You found it, but that's not enough to stop me," the man laughed, pulling out another flute. He played two different sounds, controlling two elements.

Evan Yang exclaimed, "You can do that too?"

"That's right. You have dual attributes, but I can use two flutes. Isn't that fair?" the man laughed.

"First time I've seen that. Not bad—looks like it's real skill time," Evan Yang said.

The man was eager to see what tricks Evan Yang had to break his sound. That sound could defend and attack, its power immense.

If Melody Wood's music could change emotions, this sound was pure destructive force.
