Secret Technique Gifted to You
Alexander Hayes grudgingly got up and gave Lily Evans a rough squeeze. "You little rascal, just wait until tonight—I'll really make you pay."
Lily Evans stuck out her tongue, tidied her clothes, and headed out.
In the study.
Lily Evans sat down and asked Belle about how White Pete and his daughter were settling in.
Belle replied, "Everything is taken care of. Simon Yu gave White Lily some medicine and will check on her every day."
Lily Evans nodded. "Good to hear."
White Pete came in, respectfully carrying a box. When he saw Lily Evans, his attitude was very deferential.
"How is White Lily doing now?" Lily Evans asked.
"Thank you for your concern, Princess Consort. White Lily took Simon Yu's medicine and is already asleep, with two maids watching over her." White Pete placed the box on the table, opened it, and took out a mask, offering it with both hands and a look of guilt. "To be honest, I feel ashamed. Because of my troubles, I delayed making your mask. I just found some free time and made two new masks for Professor Jade Evans. They should last quite a while."
Lily Evans took the mask and examined it. It was identical to the previous one, and she could tell White Pete had put a lot of effort into it.
"Thank you for your trouble, Mr. White," Lily Evans said with a smile.
White Pete looked up at Lily Evans, as if steeling himself, and held out the box with both hands. "Princess Consort, you have shown such kindness to me and White Lily. I am just a wandering craftsman, with nothing of value to offer in return. After much thought, I realized the only thing I can give is my skill in disguise. This is the secret manual my master left me—it contains all the techniques for making masks and even bone-shrinking. Today, I present this unique manual to Your Highness as a token of my gratitude!"
Lily Evans was startled and quickly stood up. "No, no, I can't accept this—it's your master's secret manual! Even though I'm not from the martial world, I know how precious these disguise techniques are. Everyone wants to learn them. It's far too valuable—I can't possibly take it."
White Pete insisted, "My master entrusted the manual to me, and I have the right to decide who receives it. Right now, I only want to give it to Your Highness. If you refuse, I'll burn it right here!"
White Pete was a straightforward man—he really did take out a firestarter, ready to burn the manual.
Lily Evans knew how priceless the manual was and panicked, snatching the box away. "Don't burn it! Fine, I'll accept it!"
White Pete was overjoyed to see Lily Evans accept it. "Your Highness, my mask-making and disguise skills are just a small part of what's in this manual. There's much more advanced stuff inside. If you master it, you can change your appearance, voice, and even your body shape with bone-shrinking. You could disguise yourself as anyone! It's an incredible skill—everyone in the martial world wants to learn it, but I only wish to pass it to you. If you want to study it, just ask me anytime. If you don't want to learn it yourself, you can appoint a disciple, but don't let this art be lost. Otherwise, I'd have no face left to meet my ancestors."
Lily Evans saw White Pete's sincerity and responded earnestly, "Mr. White, I truly appreciate your kindness. I'm very interested in disguise techniques—I'll definitely study them when I have time. If I run into trouble, I'll be sure to ask you for help."
White Pete was even happier to hear Lily Evans wanted to learn his disguise techniques. "Excellent! If Your Highness masters this skill, that'll be truly amazing."
