Rare Frostbane Poison

When Lena saw Grace, her eyes lit up immediately, and she struggled to sit up.

"Mom, please lie down," Grace hurried over and gently helped her stay put.

"Grace, you're finally back!" Lena smiled with relief. "I was so worried about you."

Looking at her mother, whom she hadn't seen in over twenty years, Grace's eyes grew red. "Mom, I'm sorry! I made you worry!"

"Why did you take so long at Moonwater Abbey when you went to burn incense?"

"The abbess at Moonwater Abbey said that if I sincerely copied scriptures and prayed for three months, then spent three more days in silent prayer, your illness would be cured," Grace explained. "I had already finished the three months of praying. But just at the final crucial moment, Aunt barged in and interrupted everything, so I have to start all over again!"

"Silly girl! How could you believe such things?" Lena shook her head. "They just tricked you into donating more incense money!"

Grace smiled and held her mother's hand. "Mom, everyone says the Phoenix Goddess at Moonwater Abbey is really effective. I’d rather believe it’s true than not…"

As she spoke, her fingers naturally pressed against her mother’s pulse.

In her previous life, Grace only became a Spiritual Alchemist after arriving in the Vermilion Kingdom, so she never had the chance to personally diagnose her mother.

So she never really knew what strange illness her mother had, or why—after seeking out every famous healer in the land—no one could cure her.

This time, she finally had the chance to check her mother's pulse herself.

And with that pulse check, Grace was utterly shaken!

Her mother's pulse showed... poisoning?

And not just any poison—a high-tier, incredibly elusive toxin!

In Blue Moon Kingdom, the highest-ranked Spiritual Alchemist is only fourth-tier. No wonder none of them could diagnose a poisoning this subtle.

No wonder everyone just called it a mysterious illness.

Even Grace could only guess it was some rare cold poison—she couldn't identify the exact toxin.

Grace considered two possibilities.

First, the poison might be so high-tier that it’s beyond her diagnostic abilities.

Second, maybe it’s because she currently has no spiritual power. Once she restores her Spirit Root and regains her power, she might be able to diagnose it...

...

Lena noticed her daughter's troubled look and asked, "Grace, what's wrong? Why do you look so pale?"

"It's nothing, Mom. I just remembered I haven't brought you the scriptures I copied at Moonwater Abbey. I'll go get them for you," Grace said.

"Miss, I—"

"Hope, come with me," Grace interrupted, giving her a meaningful look.

Hope understood, nodded, and left with Grace.

On the way, Hope quietly asked, "Miss, I did bring the scriptures, you know?"

"I know," Grace replied. "Hand them over."

Hope took the scriptures out of the basket she was carrying and handed them to Grace.

Grace returned to her room and entered her Sanctum, heading to the Sanctum Tower to search for a medicine.

It was a remedy she'd crafted in her past life, specifically to purge cold poison.

This medicine was extremely high-grade—an Eighth-Tier medicine.

She’d only managed to make a small bottle back then, thanks to a stroke of luck acquiring an Inferno Toad.

Grace still couldn’t pinpoint the exact poison afflicting Lena, but she was certain the Inferno Toad remedy would at least drive out some of the chill and make her mother feel better.
