That Guy

"Haha, it's nothing, that's just how I call her out of habit."

The boy, hearing Lynn Chen say that, didn't get mad at all. Instead, he turned and glanced at Evan Lin sitting there: "I call her Yanyan—does that bother you?"

As soon as he asked, both Yolanda Fang and Lynn Chen looked toward Evan Lin.

Evan Lin picked up a cup of hot tea from the table, took a sip, and shook his head, face calm: "How you call her is between you and her. It's got nothing to do with me."

Hearing Evan Lin's answer, Yolanda Fang pulled a weird face, and Lynn Chen's eyes flashed with a touch of disappointment—then she glared at Evan, clearly annoyed.

The boy was stunned for a moment, then his smile grew even warmer. He looked at Evan Lin and said, "Before I came, Auntie Lu told me that you and Lynn Chen get along pretty well. I was worried you might overthink it, but now I see it was just me being paranoid."

To be honest, before Evan Lin was reborn, he really did look up to Lynn Chen—back then, she was way out of his league.

Even in the days right after his rebirth, there was still some lingering feeling, but most of it came from Evan Lin's gratitude toward Lucy Lu.

Otherwise, given Evan Lin's personality, he probably wouldn't bother with any of the drama related to Lynn Chen.

Lynn Chen's feelings toward Evan Lin are also complicated. At first, she didn't think much of the shy, poorly dressed, low-achieving Evan Lin. Even when Lucy Lu wanted to send Evan to First High to be Lynn's classmate, Lynn strongly objected.

After that, the ordinary-looking boy in her memory somehow began to show his own brilliance, doing one thing after another that broke her expectations. In Lynn Chen's eyes, he gradually became wrapped in a veil of mystery.

Seeing Evan Lin give in, Yolanda Fang instantly felt way better. Lynn Chen, off to the side, tilted her head and played with her hair, twirling the tip around her finger. Hearing Evan's answer, she muttered, "Seriously? I had to beg and he still played hard to get."

Lynn Chen wasn't sure. She felt a bit dazed as she looked at Evan Lin quietly sipping tea nearby, then glanced at the cramped, run-down house around them. Somehow, the two seemed out of place together.

"My name is Harvey Xie. This time, I'm here under orders from Uncle Charles and Aunt Lucy to accompany Lynn Chen on this trip."

"Before we left, Uncle Charles specially lent me his car to drive over, and Aunt Lucy kept reminding me to make sure Yanyan stayed safe."

Harvey Xie smiled as he spoke. Seeing Evan Lin stay silent, he continued, "By the way, we're planning to go play in Fenghua Mountain at Zhaoyu Town. I heard there's an old immortal there, so we're going to meet him and get our love fortunes told. Are you interested in joining us?"

"Yeah, Evan, you don't have anything going on anyway, so why not come with us?" Yolanda Fang, seeing Evan Lin still silent, couldn't help but frown and nudged him with her foot.

Evan Lin glanced at her, and Yolanda Fang quickly shot him a meaningful look.

Yolanda Fang didn't really like Harvey Xie. She'd heard he was the son of a friend of Charles Chen, later entered Medicine King Valley to study, and learned some impressive medical skills.

This time, not only did he bring his master along, but he was also said to be quite famous in the Valley. When he passed through Minghai, he happened to run into Charles Chen and borrowed the car from him.

That car was probably just for showing off to Evan Lin.

Yolanda Fang, hearing Evan Lin's earlier words, immediately sensed trouble. She glanced at Lynn Chen and saw her expression wasn't great, so she decided to kick Evan Lin a few times, hoping he'd get the hint and say something nicer.

Plus, the way Harvey Xie brought up 'getting love fortunes told' was obviously meant to provoke Evan Lin, but Evan didn't seem to care at all.

Yolanda kicked him a few more times, but Evan Lin just sat there like nothing happened, which made her a bit frustrated.

"You guys go have fun. I'm not gonna crash the party."

Evan Lin shook his head when he heard about the old immortal at Fenghua Mountain.

He did plan to look for that old guy, but he had no intention of going with Lynn Chen and the others—too much hassle.

"You don't have anything to do at home, so you might as well come along." Lynn Chen frowned at Evan Lin's answer, feeling even more dissatisfied inside.

She'd come all the way to Whitewood County just to see Evan Lin. Even though she didn't want to admit it, Evan's place in her heart was way different than before.

Lynn Chen wasn't interested in Fenghua Mountain at all—she just agreed to accompany Harvey Xie because Charles Chen asked her to.

"That's right, you have to go! If you don't, I'm telling your mom you harassed me!" Yolanda Fang snapped, glaring at Evan Lin, her brows raised—instantly turning into that bossy big sis Evan knew so well.

"Are you going or not?" Yolanda Fang stared at Evan Lin.

"I..." Evan Lin started, but Yolanda Fang cut him off: "Just give me a yes or no. If you don't, when your mom gets home, I'll tell her you harassed me at school—and that you even took my..."

At this, Yolanda Fang's face actually turned a rare shade of red.

Last time, Lynn Chen had Evan Lin deliver her underwear to her at Lynn's house, and unfortunately Ethan Yi saw it, making things awkward for everyone.

Even now, talking about it, Yolanda Fang still felt her heart racing, even though it had been a while.

"Just a yes or no? Hey, that's not how you ask!" Evan Lin was finally stumped by Yolanda Fang's antics.

"If he really doesn't want to go, then forget it! It's not like we can't go without him!" Lynn Chen, seeing Evan Lin refuse again, looked completely annoyed, her pretty face darkening as she frowned.

But Yolanda Fang ignored Lynn Chen, just kept staring at Evan Lin, sometimes squeezing her little pink fist and threatening, "When your mom gets home, I'm really telling her."

"If you're not scared, then there's nothing I can do!"

After being pestered by Yolanda Fang for ages, Evan Lin finally sighed and nodded, "Alright, fine."

Seeing Evan Lin agree, Yolanda Fang immediately felt much better. Lynn Chen, off to the side, tilted her head and played with her hair, twirling the tip around her finger. Hearing Evan Lin's answer, she muttered to herself, "What a guy. I had to beg and he still acted so high and mighty."

Sitting nearby, Harvey Xie watched everything, eyes narrowed, his gaze flickering as he studied Evan Lin.
