Power of the Zither

2/27/2026

After several rounds, the White Tiger King was already looking like a spent force, but this only weakened him a little—it wasn’t a decisive blow. This made Evan Yang even more aware of how terrifying Gods truly were. He’d unleashed powerful lightning, but aside from the king’s battered appearance, it hadn’t affected him at all.

At this moment, the White Tiger King roared in fury, “You—you—I’ll kill you!”

“Your attacks can’t hurt me, and I can’t hurt you either. So you can’t do anything to me.” Evan Yang laughed.

Evan’s words struck right at the White Tiger King’s heart. Enraged, he snapped, “Damn it, watch my artifact!”

Suddenly, a disk flew out into the air. Its edges were razor-sharp, destroying everything in its path.

Evan Yang didn’t dare let his guard down for a second. He kept dodging, but it was getting difficult—the artifact was extremely fast.

But Evan Yang was only here to test the waters, not to fight the White Tiger King head-on. With a flash, he vanished from the palace. The king tried to sense Evan’s aura, but Evan seemed to disappear into thin air—he’d actually used the Realm-Shuttle Pen to escape.

“Damn it, damn it! Who are you? Who?!” The White Tiger King raged, utterly furious. Now, all his attention shifted from Melody Wood and the others to Evan Yang.

Seeing his plan succeed, Evan Yang hid himself away, while Melody Wood and her group were still trying to find a way out.

“Sister Melody, your zither music can change people’s emotions, right? Can it work on plants?” Ember Yang asked.

“I’ve never tried that, but I do remember some plants seemed to grow faster or act differently when I played—my master told me about it back then,” Melody Wood said.

Lynn Lin said, “Then give it a try.”

Melody Wood nodded, then took out her zither and began to play. The music echoed throughout the formation, and the plants were clearly affected—their movements slowed, and the vines gradually loosened, allowing the group to move freely.

Outside the formation, the commander and his men were shocked. “Is that even possible? Quickly, increase the power!”

They poured more energy into the formation, hoping it would counteract the zither music.

But Melody Wood’s music was overwhelming. The plants quickly went limp, so now the only threat Lynn Lin’s group faced was the wind.

As long as they avoided the wind, they’d be safe.

“You two help me—I’m going to use the zither to break the formation.” Melody Wood was preparing her forbidden zither technique. It was incredibly powerful, but required a huge amount of energy, so she needed Ember Yang and Lynn Lin to assist her.

“Alright,” Ember Yang and Lynn Lin replied in unison. Melody Wood took out four more zithers—five in total.

Lynn Lin and Ember Yang were stunned by all the zithers. It wasn’t until Melody Wood told them what to do that they snapped out of it and started channeling their power into her.

With Melody Wood controlling all five zithers, the music’s power multiplied more than fivefold. The entire formation began to shake. The commander was shocked—he could hardly believe it.

“Everyone, hold your ground!” the commander shouted in panic.

They managed to withstand the first wave, but the second wave of zither music was even stronger. It thundered through the area, blasting everyone and injuring the troops. Melody Wood led Lynn Lin and Ember Yang out, and by the time the commander and his men reacted, the trio had already vanished.

“Damn, they disappeared again. Looks like I’ll have to ask the White Tiger King about their whereabouts.” The commander muttered, thinking the king was still monitoring them. He hurried to the garden, only to find chaos everywhere and clear signs of battle.

“What’s this?” The commander was stunned.

Just then, the White Tiger King walked out from a nearby building, looking worse for wear. The commander asked curiously, “Your Majesty, what happened?”

“Someone snuck in just now. Damn it,” the White Tiger King growled.

“What? So Your Majesty wasn’t watching those girls at all?” the commander exclaimed.

“Girls? What happened? Did you catch them?” The White Tiger King sensed something was off and asked worriedly.

The commander shook his head. “No, they escaped.”

“What? Useless fool, they escaped again? How am I supposed to find them for you now?” The White Tiger King roared. Two failures in one day made him furious.

“I thought…” The commander wanted to say the king was supervising and should know their whereabouts, but seeing the king’s expression, he dared not continue.

“Thought? Thought what? You thought I was still watching them? Useless. I’ll give you three days—if you don’t get it done, you’re dead.” The king snorted coldly.

Frustrated, the commander hurried away, while the White Tiger King frowned deeply.

“Strange. Are these two incidents today connected?” The king suddenly wondered why someone would show up at this exact time.

After thinking it over, he realized sending the commander to handle this might be a stretch. He decided to call the commander back to tell him something important.

Just as the commander was about to leave, he got the summons and hurried back. “Your Majesty, what are your orders?” he asked curiously.

“That person today might be connected to them. Be careful, and count him in too.” The king said, handing the commander a portrait of Evan Yang.

Hearing that someone could fight the king, the commander realized this person had to be at least a god. If he ran into a god, he’d be dead for sure—it felt like a suicide mission.

But outwardly, he could only accept. “Understood,” he replied.

“If you find him, don’t act rashly—report to me immediately. He’s not someone you can handle,” the king instructed.

“Alright,” the commander replied.

After the commander left, the White Tiger King released his divine sense, scanning the entire royal city.

Meanwhile, Melody Wood, Lynn Lin, and Ember Yang waited in hiding.

“Ugh, who knows how long we’ll have to wait like this? And that king is secretly watching us—I wonder if we were discovered just now.” Ember Yang said, frustrated.

“Probably not, otherwise they would’ve found us already,” Lynn Lin replied.

“I think I should go out. I wasn’t discovered last time, and I won’t be this time either,” Ember Yang said.

Melody Wood and Lynn Lin both objected. After this experience, they knew these enemies weren’t ones a single person could handle—they had to stick together.

“This won’t work, that won’t work—I don’t know when we can leave. And Dad, who knows where he’s hiding? I’m going crazy,” Ember Yang grumbled.

“Don’t worry, we’ll find a way soon,” Melody Wood said.

“It’s like being in prison after so many days here,” Ember Yang sighed.

Lynn Lin felt the same—she wasn’t the type to tolerate boredom either.

Seeing the two of them, Melody Wood felt helpless. It was like being trapped in a huge space, unable to leave.

“Your zither music is so powerful—can you make a tunnel through the barriers outside the city?” Lynn Lin suddenly wondered, curious about Melody’s abilities.

“I’ve never tried, but it’s worth a shot,” Melody Wood replied, thinking it might be possible.

“Great! Let’s do it in the middle of the night when no one’s around,” Lynn Lin said excitedly.

“Alright,” Melody Wood smiled. Ember Yang was thrilled, “That’s perfect—we’ll definitely get out!”

The three planned to head to the city’s edge at night to check things out. Meanwhile, the searchers outside had completely lost track of Melody’s group.

That night, Lynn Lin and her friends quietly approached the city wall. Seeing the barrier atop the wall, Ember Yang grinned, “Sister Melody, it’s all up to you.”

“Alright, you two need to help me as well,” Melody Wood said.

Ember Yang and Lynn Lin nodded. Watching from the shadows, Evan Yang smiled to himself, “If you three can make it out, you’ll have passed your trial.”

The three had no idea Evan Yang was watching them the whole time. Lynn Lin, meanwhile, kept cursing Evan in her heart—he hadn’t shown up even when they were nearly dead, so cold-blooded.

Melody Wood approached the wall, with Lynn Lin and Ember Yang at her side. They channeled their power into Melody, who poured it all into her five zithers. When the music was ready, Melody shouted, unleashing a massive force at the wall. Instantly, a small opening appeared, and the trio rushed through before it closed behind them.

But the breach was immediately detected by the White Tiger King. Furious, he hurriedly notified the commander and his men of the group’s whereabouts. To prevent their escape, the king flashed outside the city to intercept Melody’s group, with the commander and others close behind.

Just as the king arrived outside the city and tried to attack, a voice laughed, “Your opponent is me.”

The king immediately recognized the voice—it was Evan Yang. Enraged, he charged toward the sound.

Melody Wood’s group sensed a terrifying aura behind them, but when the figure vanished, they wondered what had happened.

The king had been lured away to a barren mountain, where Evan Yang smiled at him. The king glared at Evan, “You actually dare to show yourself.”

“Why not? You think I’m a coward?” Evan Yang laughed.

“Damn you—today will be your death!” the king roared.

“I was fine during the day—why would I die at night?” Evan Yang chuckled.

The king snorted, “Hmph, I went easy on you during the day. Now I’ve brought an artifact—let’s see how you handle this.”

“Oh? What artifact could possibly turn the tide?” Evan Yang laughed.

The king took out a platform, big enough for two people to stand on. He stepped onto it and grinned, “Watch this.”

With that, his speed shot up—he circled Evan Yang in a flash, all thanks to the flying platform.

“So your speed increased—so what? You still can’t break through my defense. Speed alone is useless,” Evan Yang laughed.
