Territory Grab
Aunt Hua looked troubled: "But this household, we had already agreed with them... They not only buy vegetables but also want to buy our pickled vegetables, so my husband and I came to this area."
Ms. Sun's face darkened further, her eyebrows knitting as she put on a fierce expression and said, "Agreed or not, I don't believe it. It's all the same vegetables; if they can buy from you, they can buy from my family too. You and your husband better pack up and leave. This territory belongs to my family. If you dare to break the rules again, don't blame me for not going easy on you!"
Aunt Hua shrank back, frightened by Ms. Sun, muttering, "B-But this territory was originally allocated to us by Ali, your family's is over there..."
Ms. Sun twisted Aunt Hua's arm and said, "Look at who you are and who I am! You're just a poor villager from Haizi Village, but I'm Ali's real third aunt! If it weren't for our third branch helping, Ali and her mother would've starved to death long ago! Our third branch is a great benefactor to Ali's family, and Ali has to listen to her third uncle and aunt! I tell you to give me half of your territory, and you have to! If you don't agree, fine, I'll tell Ali not to let your family sell vegetables, and you won't even get that half of the land!"
Aunt Hua panicked the moment she heard Ms. Sun threaten to stop Ali from doing business with her family.
It was so hard for Aunt Hua's family to find such a good livelihood; even selling half the vegetables was much better than before. They couldn't afford to lose this business.
Aunt Hua quickly spoke kindly, pleading with Ms. Sun: "Good sister-in-law, please don't complain to Ali. We'll give you half the territory, and we won't come here anymore. The residents here will all belong to you, okay!?"
Ms. Sun, seeing Aunt Hua soften, was satisfied and said, "Good, you know your place. Hmph! I'll tell you, Ali is very close to me, her third aunt. Even if you gossip to Ali, it won't work; you'll only end up losing your livelihood, got it?"
"Got it, got it. You're relatives, and our family is an outsider. How could we dare to gossip?" Aunt Hua muttered bitterly in her heart.
"Alright, you better leave quickly and not interfere with our business." Ms. Sun gave them a couple of pushes, shoving Aunt Hua and Uncle Hua away.
The Hua couple left with worried faces, picking vegetables as they went. Ms. Sun, feeling victorious, proudly returned to Sun Ming's side, where he was still arguing with the young daughter-in-law about selling vegetables.
The young daughter-in-law looked at the vegetables in Sun Ming's hand and said, "I told you I won't buy. Look at your cabbage, the outer leaves are all frozen! And these garlic sprouts, there's still three taels of dirt on the roots. Such expensive vegetables and this much dirt? Do you think I'm stupid?"
Sun Ming was stubborn and said, "I don't care. I've already weighed them for you. You have to buy, no backing out!"
The young daughter-in-law's eyes reddened with anger: "I clearly want to buy Hua's vegetables. What does your family have to do with it? Why do you have to butt in and force me to buy?"
Ms. Sun walked over and smiled arrogantly at the young daughter-in-law: "Oh, let me tell you, from now on, only my brother and I sell vegetables in this area. If your family wants fresh vegetables, you have to buy from us. If you don't want to buy, suit yourself. Our vegetables will sell anyway."
The young daughter-in-law bit her lip in distress. Her family all liked eating fresh vegetables in winter. According to this, they had no choice but to buy from Ms. Sun?
The young daughter-in-law was unwilling but had no choice. Since Ms. Sun monopolized the business, she reluctantly took out silver and said, "Fine, here's the money. Give me the vegetables."
Ms. Sun snorted through her nose, thinking the girl was sensible. Then she took one vegetable from the bundle she gave the young daughter-in-law, threw it into the basket, and handed the rest over: "That's all. Take it or leave it."
