Greta Passes the Investigation

Greta felt a bit nervous. She secretly glanced at Mrs. Lu and Mrs. Zane beside her, silently chanting in her heart, "Whether I can stay today depends on these two foolish women."

The officials continued with their questioning and inspection, catching another spy. Soon, it was Mrs. Lu and Mrs. Zane’s turn, who were ahead of Greta in line.

These two women stood right next to Greta. Once they were questioned, it would be Greta’s turn.

The official glanced at Greta and began the routine interrogation. As soon as Greta spoke, her accent gave away the fact that she wasn’t local.

To be fair, Greta had come well-prepared. The village name and her husband’s family details she gave were all verifiable.

The official looked at Greta, feeling uncertain. His instincts told him something was off about this girl, but her story was flawless.
