Chapter 1311
After a full day of auctions, Wyatt had managed to trick Leon seven or eight times. His mood had greatly improved, and the look he gave Leon carried the pride of a victor.
Fool from Andalusia, I’ve already seen through all your little tricks. Trying to cheat me? After two or three times, I know every move you’ll make.
Heh, I’ve already tricked you four times in a row. Now you must be plotting how to get back at me, right? No worries—the game has only just begun. I’ll give you your chance...
But this country bumpkin sure has thick skin. I’ve tricked him so many times, yet he doesn’t seem discouraged at all. He keeps smiling. Clearly, fools like him must be used to this kind of thing...
Wyatt held a wine glass, a relaxed smile on his face, as if the goddess of victory was already standing behind him. Leon didn’t stand a chance.
Leon, on the other hand, still wore a faint smile, completely unconcerned.
Next to him, Faro watched silently, seeing everything clearly.
According to Lord Merlin’s usual style, he already had the rhythm of the event firmly in hand. The fools from the Rodney Family probably thought they had completely figured out Lord Merlin...
But all those earlier items, even with the loss in purple gold coins, only added up to five or six hundred thousand. Lord Merlin never loses out—just wait for the real show...
As the last item was auctioned off, the next thing to appear was a pitch-black component. It looked like a piece of some massive magical device, but not an important one—more like a spare part. Dark energy clung to its surface, not especially powerful, but so pure it made your skin crawl.
"This thing, legend says it comes from the Nesser Dynasty—a piece torn from a powerful magical artifact built by a destructive black dragon. The material is insanely tough, and it's infused with pure, undiluted darkness.
For anyone studying the history of the Nesser Dynasty or the Chromatic Dragons, or for researching magical artifacts, this piece is a treasure trove. The pure darkness embedded in it is worth a fortune to scholars alone.
Starting bid: eight hundred thousand purple gold coins."
Genesis Chapter!
One of the Death Tome's components!
The first time I saw it in the illustrated compendium, I was absolutely sure—nothing else could be twisted into that weird shape except the Genesis Chapter. It matched my memories exactly, down to every disturbing curve.
The oldest legends say the world began with darkness. In endless black, the first realms were born, until light ripped through a corner of the void and life spilled out. Only then did the world start to evolve, giving rise to the endless planes we know today.
The Genesis Chapter itself doesn’t have any real power. No matter how much you study it, it’s useless on its own. You have to fuse it with the Death Tome—only then does it start to matter, only then does its true potential awaken.
You could poke and prod it for centuries, but until it’s part of the Death Tome, it’s just a weird, creepy relic.
