Golden-Armored Man

2/27/2026

After a while, Evan Yang felt an irresistible urge to enter a certain cave, so he walked in without hesitation.

Once Evan disappeared, a man clad in golden armor appeared beside Elder Lu. The armor radiated nine kinds of light—a sign that it was a ninth-grade immortal artifact.

The man frowned at Elder Lu. "Elder Lu, what is the meaning of this? Why let someone who isn't even part of the Immortal Realm Alliance enter here?"

"Heavenbane, I know what you're thinking. I'll report this to several Immortal Sovereigns, so you don't need to worry." Elder Lu said.

"Elder Lu, if that's the case, I won't press the issue. But I want to know—why are you doing this?" the gold-armored man asked curiously.

"Because he is very likely to become the next Immortal Sovereign," Elder Lu replied with a smile.

"The next Immortal Sovereign? That's impossible. He's only at the Immortal Lord level. There are plenty like him in the Immortal Realm," Heavenbane said, surprised by Elder Lu's claim.

"Then let me ask you—how many Profound Immortals in the Immortal Realm can challenge an Emperor Realm expert?" Elder Lu asked with a smile.

"That's unheard of in history. Are you saying it's him?" Heavenbane said in shock.

"That's right. He's the one who, during the Territory War Contest, broke the formation and defeated the Devil Realm Emissary," Elder Lu said with a smile.

Heavenbane heard this and wore an expression of disbelief. He even muttered, "If he can last until the end, maybe it's really possible."

"That's right. If the Immortal Realm gains another Immortal Sovereign, it would be a blessing for us. You know how few Sovereigns we have, but the Devil Realm's Demon Sovereigns are slowly increasing. We've even received news that the Sky-Flooding Demon Sovereign has returned to the Devil Realm. I suspect the four clans have gathered this time to share this news," Elder Lu said.

"The Sky-Flooding Demon Sovereign?" Heavenbane was even more shocked. That Sovereign was the nightmare of the Immortal Realm back then. If not for several Immortal Sovereigns sealing him, countless experts would have died at his hands.

"Exactly. The Sky-Flooding Demon Sovereign is still recuperating, but once he recovers, he'll definitely seek revenge against our Immortal Realm. Those Sovereigns paid a heavy price to seal him, and they still haven't fully recovered. If he regains his peak strength, the Immortal Realm will truly be in danger," Elder Lu said.

"Looks like the Devil Realm is really preparing for a full-scale Immortal-Devil War this time, aiming to wipe us out in one stroke," Heavenbane sighed.

"That's right. They've sent many emissaries to stir up trouble, and that Devil-Fiend Well appeared too. If it hadn't been discovered in time, things would have been disastrous," Elder Lu said.

"Elder Lu, why do the Devil Realm people want to absorb the Fiend Realm back? I just don't get it. Can such a small realm really boost their power that much?" Heavenbane asked, even more curious after hearing about the Devil-Fiend Well.

"There's no conclusion yet. I don't know either, but we'll find out in time. For now, you must help me monitor him. If he appears, notify me immediately. I'll go back and handle clan affairs," Elder Lu said.

"Understood, Elder Lu. Go ahead," Heavenbane replied.

With Heavenbane's confirmation, Elder Lu left at ease, leaving Heavenbane behind who muttered, "Is it really that miraculous?"

Meanwhile, Evan Yang was drawn toward a place radiating white light. The glow was gentle, and as soon as he stepped inside, he was enveloped by a soft radiance that even seeped into his body, startling him.

But he soon realized the light didn't harm him—instead, it greatly boosted his Light Attribute, leaving him astonished.

"This is pure Light-source attribute. Strange, why is it so pure here?" Evan wondered, so he kept walking deeper. When he arrived inside, he was shocked by what he saw.

He saw a person sitting there, seemingly alive. But after reading the inscription beside him, Evan realized this person had passed away. His cultivation was actually ninth-tier Emperor Realm. Although Emperor Realm lifespans are long, they still end; this person must have reached his limit, so he sat here and transformed all his accumulated power into energy.

The surrounding light was his attribute power, gathered after his death.

"To think, even after death, he was so unwilling to let go," Evan mused. After reading further, he found that the person had the Light Attribute but was stuck at ninth-tier Emperor Realm, unable to become an Immortal Sovereign. It was his lifelong dream, but he couldn't achieve it, so this was his final act.

Not only that, the inscription also explained his understanding of the power of Light in detail, laying out techniques for using it and even asserting that anyone who keeps cultivating along this path should be able to reach the Immortal Sovereign rank.

"I wonder how many Immortal Sovereigns there are in the Immortal Realm now, and what attributes they have," Evan muttered to himself. But he knew this legacy was a priceless treasure, beyond measure.

Evan thought for a moment. Since there was still a month before the Tournament, he decided to fully comprehend this Light knowledge.

And so, Evan vanished from everyone's sight. The Wine Beggar and Lydia Yang grew worried when Evan didn't return, while Terry Yang and his group were unhappy—why was Elder Lu meeting Evan for so long? Was he getting some special benefit?

After Terry Yang's mother arrived at the Yang Clan's quarters, she found an opportunity to visit the Lynn Family and made her intentions clear: no matter what, Evan Yang must be killed.

The Lynn Family contestants called Terry's mother 'Aunt,' and they were furious at Evan as well. So, without hesitation, they agreed to help kill him.

The Fenn Family, dissatisfied and brooding, also approached the Lynn Family. When they discussed Evan, both clans shared the same idea: eliminate him.

Not only had Evan offended them, but more importantly, he was from the North Sect. Years ago, the Lynn and Fenn families were the direct culprits in destroying the North Sect's Immortal Realm base. If Evan grew strong enough, he might one day take revenge, which they could not allow.

So they reached a consensus: decisively kill Evan, then settle their own scores afterward.

Evan had no idea that his brief disappearance had already led these people to make a pact: kill Evan first, then compete among themselves.

A few days passed, and Evan still hadn't returned. The Wine Beggar and Lydia Yang grew even more worried, while Terry Yang and his group had other thoughts.

"Dad, what exactly did Elder Lu want Evan to do?" Terry asked curiously.

"I don't know. We'll only find out once Elder Lu returns," Terry's father replied.

Just as they finished speaking, Elder Lu appeared. He told the Yang Clan, "Tomorrow at noon, all contestants should wait here. I'll take you to draw lots for the matches."

"Elder Lu, where's Evan?" The Wine Beggar hadn't seen Evan with Elder Lu, so he asked curiously.

Terry Yang and his group naturally wanted to know Evan's whereabouts too.

Elder Lu smiled. "He's cultivating somewhere special, so you don't need to worry. As for the lot-drawing tomorrow, I'll draw for him."

Everyone was stunned by Elder Lu's words. Evan was cultivating somewhere special? And Elder Lu would draw lots for him? It was almost unbelievable.

But the Wine Beggar and Lydia Yang quickly calmed down, knowing Evan must have encountered some great fortune. For Terry Yang and his group, however, it felt very different.

After finishing his explanation, Elder Lu left. Terry Yang grumbled, "Damn, what kind of luck does that guy have?"

"What, jealous?" the Wine Beggar teased.

"I'm not jealous! I just hate how they openly favor Evan. What's so great about him? Hmph," Terry said angrily.

"If you, as a Profound Immortal, could defeat an Emperor Realm expert, you'd be valued too," Lydia Yang retorted.

"Damn it, that's just his luck," Terry couldn't hold back and cursed.

"Luck? If you say everything is luck, then his luck is just too good. You can't even match his luck," the Wine Beggar said.

"You two!" Terry was furious at their one-two mockery.

"Mind your manners—don't forget, we're still your elders," Lydia Yang said with a cold snort.

"You only care about Evan. If you want to be elders, forget it! From now on, if the Yang Clan has Evan, it doesn't have me. If it has me, it doesn't have Evan. Just wait—he won't last forever. I don't believe his luck will hold," Terry said angrily, then stormed back to his room. His parents were upset but had no choice and followed him inside.

Watching their expressions, Lydia Yang smiled. "Third Brother, did you see that?"

"I saw, but I'm not soft-hearted. This is their retribution. Years ago, if Big Brother and Sister-in-law hadn't fought for Second Brother's position, things wouldn't be so twisted," the Wine Beggar said.

"Honestly, Big Brother and Sister-in-law—was the Patriarch's seat really worth fighting over? Luckily, Father canceled it in the end. Even if only Big Brother remained, the seat would still belong to Father," Lydia Yang said.

"But if Evan hadn't appeared, the seat might really have gone to Terry," the Wine Beggar sighed.

"That's why what belongs to Second Brother will always belong to him. No matter what, that seat might just go to Second Brother's son," Lydia Yang said.

"Alright, let's drop it. If Father hears, he'll say we're stirring up trouble again. He doesn't want this made public yet, though we all know he cares about Evan," the Wine Beggar said.

Lydia Yang nodded. Meanwhile, inside his room, Terry raged, no matter how his parents tried to comfort him. He just couldn't accept it, feeling like an outsider.

After venting, Terry finally calmed down and said, "No, I have to work harder. I don't know where he's cultivating, but I won't lose to him."

"That's right. Keep it up," his father encouraged.

His mother added, "Don't worry. That brat will either die or be badly hurt. If he draws lots for the later matches, we'll definitely finish him off."

"Dad, what are the rules for the tournament, anyway? Can you tell me, so I can be mentally prepared?" Terry asked, finally focusing on the upcoming competition.
