Fever

2/14/2026

Back at school, Annie Shu crashed for a nap in her dorm room.

By the time she woke up, it was already late afternoon.

She opened the campus forum—everyone was buzzing about Tyler Tan last night. Nobody seemed to care anymore that Annie and Tyler spent the night together in the same hotel room.

Tyler actually kept his promise.

But deep down, Annie felt a weird, restless emptiness she couldn’t quite explain.

"You awake?"

Her roommate was busy doing her makeup, glanced over as Annie got up from bed, and said, "If you're up, come eat something."

"Oh right, did you catch Tyler Tan’s livestream last night?"

Man, that guy’s hilarious. I honestly thought someone like him would try to take advantage of you last night, but nope—he didn’t even make a move, just messed around and tortured himself all night instead.

Did you hear? Just now, Tyler Tan went to the campus clinic.

Her roommate was still chatting away, but Annie Shu was totally spaced out, not paying attention at all—until she caught that last sentence and snapped back to reality.

"He went to the infirmary?"

Annie poked her head out. "Why'd he go to the infirmary?"

"Probably from staying up all night—he's got a fever now."

The girl stopped doing her makeup, about to say something else, when Annie Shu suddenly shot up from bed.

She got up, hopped off the bed, slipped on her shoes, and bolted out the door.

She moved so fast she didn't even wash her face.

Annie Shu rushed out of the dorm, speed-walking straight to the infirmary. When she got there, she peeked in through the window and saw Tyler Tan hooked up to an IV drip.

Tyler looked pale, totally wiped out—nothing like the guy who spent last night livestreaming and bragging nonstop. It was like he was a whole different person.

Seeing him like that, Annie Shu hesitated and wavered for a moment, but finally reached out and slowly pushed the door open.
