The Day Before Grandma Evelyn Yin's Birthday
Rona Muir took one look at Cici's expression and knew her guess was almost spot on.
"No way, Cici! You really agreed to it?" Rona Muir asked, her mouth wide open in shock.
Cici didn't deny it. "I'm technically an employee of Yin Enterprises now. But I'm way too free—running my own company on the side, coming and going as I please. Today, Evan Wang came to see me."
"Evan Wang?" Rona Muir had to think for a moment before she remembered who he was. "Why did he come to you?"
Cici said directly, "Because of my kidnapping, Charles Yin has been ruthlessly suppressing Wayne Wang. Not only did he strip Wayne of several branch companies in N City, but he also snatched up a bunch of his land in the capital. Wayne's gone crazy—he told Evan to solve this, or he'd cut off the lab's funding. Evan came to ask me for help, so I went to see Charles at noon about this."
"So, you basically sold yourself out for Evan?" Rona Muir laughed, totally unrestrained. "But yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing Charles Yin would do. He's always been so cunning!"
Deliberately suppressing Wayne Wang, forcing him to send Evan to handle things.
Cici was always loyal and sentimental; seeing Evan Wang begging her, there was no way she'd refuse.
Cici couldn't turn Evan down, so she had no choice but to swallow her pride and beg Charles Yin to back off...
Rona Muir instantly figured out how it all connected and couldn't help but click her tongue. "Charles Yin's cunning is on a whole new level! Tsk tsk, Cici, looks like you're never getting out of this mess."
Cici rolled her eyes. "It's not that dramatic."
Rona Muir kept pressing, "So where are you guys heading for this business trip?"
"Hokkaido," Cici replied casually. "This season is perfect—the flower fields are in full bloom. It's a great time to go."
Rona Muir couldn't help but think to herself: You actually know it's a great time to go? This isn't a business trip—it's obviously a romantic getaway!
Of course, Cici had absolutely no idea this could be a romantic trip. She kept talking to Rona Muir, "After Grandma Evelyn Yin's 80th birthday, I'm heading to Japan with Charles Yin for a while. You'll have to take care of things at the company! I need to train myself if I want to revive the Yun Family back home. Otherwise, with my rookie skills, I can't even build a gate, let alone restore the Yun Family!"
Rona Muir gave Cici a sympathetic look. "Alright, I'll handle things here. Don't worry, when we start making money, I'll help you rebuild the Yun Family."
Cici reached out and patted Rona Muir's hand, giving her a grateful smile.
Good friends need no explanation.
A few days passed in a blur.
Tomorrow is Grandma Evelyn Yin's 80th birthday.
The entire Yin Family was bustling with activity.
Many people chose to send their gifts to the Yin Manor in advance.
Especially the particularly valuable or large items, which are not suitable for presenting in public, so they were all sent to the Yin Manor ahead of time.
The Yin Family called in extra help from some of their properties outside the city, but even so, everyone was so busy they were working as if three people in one.
Some guests who traveled from afar had already moved into the Yin Manor.
Of course, only those who wield significant influence at home or abroad could stay at the Yin Manor.
Those less important could stay at hotels nearby, which was already a privilege.
And there were plenty who couldn’t even book a hotel.
Hotels for these few days had been booked out a year in advance.
As the star of the birthday banquet—Grandma Evelyn Yin—she was enjoying afternoon tea with her two great-grandchildren, totally at ease.
Great-grandma, we have a present for you tomorrow!" Ethan Yin said, grinning at Grandma Evelyn Yin.
Oh, what present do my darling great-grandchildren have for me?' Grandma Evelyn Yin beamed at Ethan Yin.
Can't tell you yet!' Ethan Yin shook his head.
Miles, do you agree?' Grandma Evelyn Yin turned to Miles Gu.
Miles Gu nodded, "Mm!"
Miles has been so well-behaved lately,' Grandma Evelyn Yin's assistant couldn't help but say.
She had been with Grandma Evelyn Yin for decades, never married.
She’d watched Miles Gu grow from a chubby baby into a handsome, mischievous little boy, and she loved him like her own grandson.
Ethan Yin was the true heir of the Yin Family, so she didn’t dare get too close.
Miles Gu was different—he’d inherited his mother’s surname and wouldn’t get any of the Yin Family inheritance, so she felt free to dote on him as her own.
