Blocked at the Restroom

Cherry Miller wore a flawless professional smile. "But honestly, I have way too much on my plate. You know, even though my Miss isn’t interested in the company, half of the Yin Family’s assets are set aside as her dowry. As her chief executive assistant, anything she doesn’t want to deal with, I have to handle myself. So, as much as I’d love to be your guide, I simply don’t have the bandwidth."

Derek Tang listened to Cherry Miller’s polite refusal, fully understanding her meaning. He immediately replied, "No need to worry. I’m a grown man, after all. I’ve spent plenty of time out and about—no need for a young lady like you to fuss over me."

Cherry Miller’s mouth twitched.

She was definitely not worried!

"Don’t worry, I won’t bother you when you’re busy. When you’re free and feel like thinking of me, I’ll always be around." Derek Tang looked at Cherry Miller with deep affection, so much so that Cherry felt uncomfortable—she almost wanted to throw up the food she’d just eaten.

"That’s good," Cherry Miller replied dryly.

At the next table, Yina Yin overheard every word of their conversation.

She couldn’t help but curl her lips into a smile.

This girl really was stubborn.

She obviously didn’t want to deal with Derek Tang, but still forced herself to have dinner with him.

Why would the Yin Group ever need to beg anyone for a favor?

If that gaming company wants to sell, fine. If not, just leave it be.

It’s only because she’s so eager to manage Yina’s assets—she cares more about that than her own affairs.

Now that she knew Cherry Miller wasn’t interested in that man, Yina Yin felt relieved.

Cherry Miller just ate a few bites, then lost her appetite. She politely said, "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."

With that, Cherry grabbed her new limited-edition Chanel chain bag and headed off to the restroom.

Expressionless, Cherry Miller touched up her lipstick, thinking about how to find an excuse to leave early. Suddenly, she heard Yina Yin’s voice behind her: "If you don’t want to deal with him, just go. As the chief executive assistant of the Yin Family, you don’t have to beg anyone."

Cherry Miller jerked her head up and saw Yina Yin in the mirror, looking at her with a half-smile.

"Y-Yina..." Cherry turned around, her face full of disbelief. "What are you doing here?"

"You turned down my invitation just to see that guy. Now you’ve seen him, had dinner, can you come with me now?" Yina Yin’s mesmerizing eyes locked onto Cherry Miller, leaving no room for refusal.

"But..." Cherry Miller tried to resist.

"No buts." Yina Yin said coolly, "Quentin Sheng already paid for your table and told Derek Tang I needed to talk to you. What, as CEO of the Yin Group, I’m not allowed to chat with my own assistant?"

"No, that’s not what I meant." Cherry realized Derek Tang had already been sent away by Quentin Sheng, so there was no way to dodge things tonight.

"You’re avoiding me." Yina Yin’s brows furrowed, a hint of frustration in her voice. "Is it because I didn’t look for you these past four years, so now you’re mad at me?"

"No!" Cherry blurted out, "Yina, I... I’m just an assistant in the Yin Family, and you’re the future head of the family... I..."

"That’s not a reason." Yina Yin cut her off. "If you cared about status so much, you would’ve rejected me years ago. Do you really think I’d believe you’re using that excuse now?"

Cherry Miller’s palms started to sweat.

She wanted to explain, but didn’t know how.

As for her deadbeat dad, better not bring him up.

She couldn’t ruin her mother’s and Madame’s reputations.

"If you’re upset that I didn’t look for you these past few years, then I apologize—and I can explain. But you can’t use status as an excuse to reject me, okay?" Yina Yin said.

Cherry Miller was at a loss for words.

"If you don’t want to see Derek Tang, then don’t." Yina Yin said proudly, "Yina’s gaming company is just for fun. If you don’t want to run it anymore, just dissolve it—no need for you to sacrifice so much."

"Yina, this is my job, please don’t interfere," Cherry Miller refused. "If I just shut it down, it’ll only prove I’m bad at my job."

"Alright, since you insist, I won’t meddle." Yina Yin said. "But make sure you bring a few people with you—don’t let yourself get taken advantage of, okay?"

"Yes, thank you, Yina."

"Fine, call me whatever you want. You’re really not as cute as you were when you were little. Back then, you always listened and called me whatever I asked." Yina Yin said, sounding a bit deflated.

"I was just a clueless kid back then. Sorry for making you laugh." Cherry finally managed to pull herself together. "Yina, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out. I came to S City not just for the gaming company—there’s a lot more to handle. Yina’s getting married soon, and her dowry can’t be sloppy."

Yina Yin chuckled. "You care about these things more than she does. Go ahead and get busy. But tonight’s dinner—you’re not allowed to turn me down, got it?"

"Alright." Cherry Miller agreed helplessly.

She’d already made her refusal so obvious—why wouldn’t Yina Yin just give up?

What should she do now?

Was she really going to have to say no out loud?

No way.

Madame and Sir had always treated her and her mother so well—how could she embarrass the Yin Family like that?

Cherry Miller had no choice but to come up with another plan and make Yina Yin give up on her own.

Yina Yin watched Cherry Miller’s hurried retreat.

"What could possibly make you this conflicted?" Yina Yin wasn’t clueless—in fact, she was very sharp.

He could see much more than just Cherry Miller’s rejection and avoidance.

He could also see that Cherry Miller wasn’t being honest about a lot of things.

He could have had someone investigate what Cherry Miller had been through these past years, but he didn’t want to do that.

The reason was simple—Cherry Miller wasn’t an ordinary girl. She might be an assistant, but she was top talent, personally trained by the Yin Family.

Talent deserves respect.

He would wait until the day Cherry Miller confessed on her own.

As for breaking up?

Ha, not a chance.

From the time he set his sights on her as a child, Yina Yin had never intended for her to marry anyone else but him.

As for Derek Tang… As long as he plays by the rules, fine. If not, the Tang Family can pack their bags and leave!

Yina Yin was just about to turn and leave.
