Infiltration and Assassination

1/4/2026

Her unease was nothing more than the confusion of someone caught up in the moment.

Hans’s men were quickly caught, and Charles broke their legs and tossed them into The Gale, leaving them to fend for themselves.

Cecilia Gu froze for a second, then pulled up every surveillance feed she could.

That figure popped up in another camera’s field of view just as quickly.

The tents, battered by The Gale, were now on the verge of collapse.

Cecilia Gu didn’t hesitate for a second—she shot the message straight to the bodyguards at the cave entrance.

The others had spotted the figure too and jumped into action.

No one thought anyone would sneak over in weather like this.

Some people just don’t give up!

The wind kept fading, and they finally made it through The Eye of the Storm.

“Someone broke in,” Cecilia said simply. “Stay in my room and don’t go anywhere.”

Ethan woke up instantly, looking up at Cecilia. “Where are you going, Mom?”

“I’m worried about Miles Gu. I need to check on him,” Cecilia replied instinctively.

“No way, Mom! I’m coming with you!” Now fully awake, Ethan clung tightly to Cecilia’s neck and refused to let go. He wanted to help protect Miles Gu.

Just as Cecilia was about to speak, Charles Yin walked in from outside. “None of you are going anywhere. It’s nothing—just a small fry. No need to make a fuss.”

Even though Charles said that, Cecilia still felt uneasy. The Gale was still raging outside.

And honestly, Cecilia was right to be worried!

Because it wasn’t just one person who’d come—it was ten! And Miles Gu was still in danger.

Charles only kept quiet about it because he didn’t want Cecilia to worry.

Charles Yin’s eyes narrowed, turning even darker. Looks like Captain Hans can’t wait to see me dead!

Well, well, it seems everyone’s thinking the same thing.

But wanting me dead isn’t as easy as it sounds.

Captain Hans may rule the seas and earn the nickname 'Sea Fox,' but don’t forget—Charles Yin is a king on land!

If we’re just talking about money, how could a sea king possibly be richer than a land king?

The reason is simple.

Sure, the ocean is full of resources—but you have to be able to extract them!

You might be a big shot Sea Fox, but let’s see you drill for oil at the bottom of the ocean!

But on land, it’s different. Wherever there’s oil or minerals, if you’ve got money, you can dig!

Charles Yin controls Africa’s minerals and the Middle East’s energy. How could he ever be short on cash?

And if you’re never short on money, you’re never short on gear.

The outside surveillance cameras are just one layer of security—there’s plenty more that no one’s noticed yet!

Captain Hans may have more men, but when it comes to gear, who wins is anyone’s guess.

Charles Yin was confident, but he didn’t want Cecilia Gu to worry, so he kept the truth to himself.

Cecilia didn’t suspect a thing. Hearing Charles’s words, she finally relaxed. “Okay, we’ll wait here. I’ll have someone check on Miles.”

Charles nodded and patted Ethan Yin on the head. “I’m putting you in charge of protecting Mom. Can you handle it?”

“Mission accomplished!” Ethan replied loudly, full of confidence.

Charles and Cecilia both burst out laughing.

Cecilia sent her assistant to greet Earl Field. Earl Field had someone relay a message back: they were fully prepared, and Miles was absolutely safe.

With that news, Cecilia finally felt at ease and waited for the outcome.

This group was sent by Captain Hans to test Charles Yin, just like Charles’s own scouts sent to probe Captain Hans.

Hans’s men were quickly caught, and Charles broke their legs and tossed them into the gale, leaving them to fend for themselves.

At last, by the second half of the night, the wind finally began to die down.

But the rain only grew fiercer.

The tents, battered by the gale, were now on the verge of collapse.

The torrential rain hammered the weakened tents, making them creak and groan painfully.

Everyone was on edge, worried the tents might cave in at any moment.

The night grew quieter and quieter.

The sound of rain was crystal clear in everyone’s ears.

The wind kept fading, and they finally made it through the eye of the storm.

But the real test was still to come.

The torrential rain caused the sea level to rise rapidly—over a meter already—swallowing up the surrounding beaches.

If this rain keeps up for a few more days, there’ll be nothing left of the island but the mountain peak.

What now?

If they’re trapped here by the rain, they’re doomed.

It was so dark outside, they couldn’t see a thing.

There was nothing they could do.

Everyone could only wait patiently in the cave for daylight.

That night felt unbearably long.

For both Charles Yin and Captain Hans, it was pure agony.

“Mr. Yin, bad news—the water level has passed the warning line. If it keeps rising, we’ll have to evacuate the island!” A bodyguard in charge of monitoring the water rushed over to report to Charles Yin. “According to the forecast, in six hours the water will be two meters higher. The whole island will be underwater.”

Cecilia Gu drew a sharp breath.

No wonder no one lives on these islands.

Getting flooded all the time—who could live here?

Charles Yin frowned slightly. “Why is it rising so fast?”

Leaving the others behind, Charles went to discuss with Earl Field.

Looks like it’s going to be another sleepless night.

Earl Field seemed to be waiting for Charles already.

So, when Charles arrived, Earl Field had just brewed some tea and handed him a cup.

“You’re quite the gentleman, Earl. Even now, you have the leisure to drink tea.” Charles sat down across from Earl Field, dressed in jungle camo—less elegant, more wild.

Earl Field smiled and nodded. “I trust your abilities, Mr. Yin. You won’t leave anyone behind on this island. What’s there to worry about?”

Charles didn’t waste words. “The sea level has passed the warning line. We have to evacuate at dawn. I’ve decided to have Cecilia, Rona Muir, and the kids go with Jiro Hirayama by boat to the largest island. Even if the water rises there, it won’t flood the whole place.”

Earl Field nodded, showing no objection.

Charles continued, “I’d like your help keeping an eye on Captain Hans and any places he might be hiding hostages.”

Earl Field lowered his voice. “Do you think Captain Hans will keep the hostages on this island?”

“Very likely.” Charles nodded. “Moving the experts in this weather would be too risky.”

But Earl Field shook his head. “Staying here is even more dangerous. I have some information about this island—take a look.”

Earl Field slid the documents over to Charles.

Charles flipped through them casually, then his expression changed. “Where did you get these?”
