"What did you just say?"
As soon as Evan Lin finished speaking, Victor Su—whose face had been smiling—suddenly changed expression. But he forced himself to suppress his shock, coughed, and kept his voice steady: "Uh, young man, what exactly are you talking about?"
Over the years, Victor Su had sought out famous doctors from everywhere, all to find a way to cure Molly Su’s strange illness. As for Victor himself, because he’d spent his early years serving in the army and fighting wars, his body was riddled with hidden injuries. To outsiders, Victor Su still seemed full of vigor and strength—not at all like an old man. But only Victor knew that the injuries inside him were becoming harder and harder to suppress.
He’d only planned to call Evan Lin over because he’d noticed Evan’s martial skill, but he hadn’t expected Evan’s very first sentence to directly reveal the physical conditions of both him and Molly Su!
Very few people actually knew that Molly Su and Victor Su were both sick.
Could it be that this boy in front of him could diagnose someone’s illness with just a glance?
Thinking of this, Victor Su’s eyes flashed with sharpness, but to be safe, he decided to test Evan a little more.
"Let me be blunt. Your hidden injuries have dragged on for years. With your current condition, you’ll be lucky to live another half a year. Good thing you ran into me." Evan Lin said calmly.
As soon as Evan finished speaking, Victor Su’s expression changed dramatically.
Lately, he really had felt his body getting worse, and he’d often cough up blood without warning. He knew his days were numbered, but he hadn’t expected anyone to see through him so easily.
"Grandpa! Is what he said true?" Molly Su, standing next to Victor Su, was startled. She turned to look at Victor, her beautiful eyes instantly filling with tears. "It’s all my fault. If not for me, you wouldn’t be worrying and exhausting yourself day after day…"
"It’s not your fault, how could it be? I know my own body best." Victor Su shook his head and sighed.
Standing nearby, Blade’s eyes also showed a trace of surprise. He suddenly turned to look at Victor Su. Even though he’d followed Victor for years, he’d never realized Victor’s health was in such bad shape.
"But, young man, are you saying you can cure me?" Victor Su turned back to Evan Lin, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
He might act casual, but if there’s a chance to live, who would truly want to die?
All these years, Victor Su had sought out Medicine King Valley’s famed experts, but even they couldn’t bring him good news. No matter how much money he spent, all he got were a few pills that barely kept him going.
Now, both Molly Su and Blade were staring at Evan Lin, still a bit doubtful, but at this point, it seemed there was no other choice.
"I can cure you, and it’s very simple. Let’s go inside first. Get me eighteen silver needles." Evan Lin nodded slightly, then walked straight toward the villa.
Blade hesitated for a moment, but at Victor Su’s signal, he turned and went outside to look for the silver needles.
Meanwhile, as Evan Lin and the others entered the villa with Victor Su, Neil Kong’s face had turned completely pale.
"Old Man Su invited him into the villa—what does that mean, exactly?"
"Hard to say, but if word gets out, Evan Lin could become famous in Jinnan overnight."
"Jiayun, you really do have a remarkable son!"
A moment ago, many men and women were still siding with Neil Kong and Sharon Chen; now, their eyes were full of flattery as they looked at Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu.
If they could use Joy Zheng’s connection to get close to Evan Lin, and maybe even meet Old Man Su through him, it might change their fate.
"Of course. Xiao Yi’s always been clever." Lucy Lu said, her pride showing.
"Ladies, you must be hungry. I’ve already asked the kitchen to prepare everything. Why don’t we go eat first?" Henry Zhang hurried over to Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu, speaking respectfully and smiling broadly.
"Yes, I’m a bit hungry. Jiayun, let’s go eat." Lucy Lu took Joy Zheng’s arm and headed toward the resort restaurant.
Fang You and Lin Yan followed close behind, and the other classmates quickly joined in, all eager to get on good terms with Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu.
"Mom, Dad, what about us?" Ryan Chen watched as the crowd that had surrounded his family now flocked to Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu, leaving their spot suddenly empty and making him feel a little bitter.
"What about us?" Neil Kong’s face was clouded, while Derek Zhang and Kevin Shao stared at him with blank eyes.
"We should keep watching. Best to wait and see what happens—if that Evan Lin guy says anything after coming out of Old Man Su’s place, what if he screws us over behind our backs?" Sharon Chen gritted her teeth, feeling deeply uneasy.
Normally, she’d just walk away from a scene like this, but today was different.
Sharon Chen worried that if Evan Lin said a few bad words to Old Man Su, Neil Kong’s company could be in real trouble.
"Yeah." Neil Kong nodded, feeling the weight of humiliation.
"Boss Kong, what do you think?" Derek Zhang followed Neil Kong, looking anxious.
He’d lost his job and his future—his only hope now rested on Neil Kong.
Neil Kong glanced at him, then at the miserable Sharon Xiao. "You’re on your own now!"
Neil Kong snorted. Derek Zhang finally collapsed, his legs giving out as he sat on the ground. Sharon Xiao’s face was deathly pale, and she couldn’t help but burst into tears.
"Why are you crying? This is all your fault—why’d you have to mess with Joy Zheng? And what’s her son’s deal anyway?" Derek Zhang glared at Sharon Xiao, furious.
"How was I supposed to know what he does? He’s just a student, right? I have no idea!" Sharon Xiao thought of her once-comfortable life ending and felt like she was falling apart. Nearby, Ivy Zhang glanced at Ryan Chen, but Ryan didn’t even look at her—he just hurried after Neil Kong and Sharon Chen toward the resort hotel, leaving their family by the pool looking utterly miserable.
Inside the villa, on the second floor, Evan Lin stood on the balcony, the breeze on his face, his gaze deep and steady. Behind him, Victor Su watched in silent contemplation, studying the youth’s back for a long moment without speaking.
Meanwhile, Blade finally found a box of silver needles and rushed over, accompanied by a middle-aged man in a white coat.
The middle-aged man moved with swift, graceful steps, hands clasped behind his back, crossing the floor almost as fast as the wind.
