A moment later, several high-ranking figures from the main hall stepped out. These were the most powerful and influential people in Coldriver City. As they glanced up at the battle raging in the sky between Evan Lin and the middle-aged man, every one of them wore a look of shock—because right now, Evan Lin's Frostbane Sword was driven straight through the man's chest.
Seeing this scene, everyone felt a sense of disbelief. That middle-aged man was supposed to be a late-stage Da Luo Golden Immortal, one of the top experts in the City Lord’s Mansion. Yet now, an unknown young newcomer had stabbed a sword into his chest—no one could accept it.
At that moment, the silver-haired elder shot into the air, roaring angrily, “Kid, stop right there!” As he spoke, a longsword appeared in his hand, slashing down at Evan Lin with lightning speed.
The middle-aged man’s physical body was destroyed, but his Immortal Infant was unharmed. As long as the elder could rescue his Immortal Infant, it wouldn’t take long for him to recover—he could possess a new body at early or mid Da Luo Golden Immortal level. But if the Immortal Infant was destroyed, it would be all over for him.
Evan Lin saw right through the silver-haired elder’s intentions—he wanted to save the guy’s Immortal Infant. But there was no way Evan would let that happen. He swiftly pulled out the Frostbane Sword, and a blaze of fire instantly erupted in his palm, engulfing the middle-aged man’s body.
Now, Evan Lin’s flames were on par with earth-fire grade. After the Frostbane Sword pierced the man’s heart, he could feel his life slipping away, but his Immortal Infant couldn’t escape in time. Evan’s flames burned both his body and Immortal Infant to absolute ash.
Everything happened in a flash. After trading that palm strike with Evan Lin, the man’s body went numb and he couldn’t move—he never expected Evan to seize the moment, flash forward, and stab his sword straight into his heart.
The instant the sword pierced his heart, he was filled with unwillingness and despair. He hadn’t even managed to use his own treasures before Evan somehow ambushed him. But regret was useless—he could only hope his Immortal Infant would escape, yet even that was slain.
Just then, the silver-haired elder’s attack reached Evan Lin. He had no choice but to hastily slash out with his sword to block it. A surge of powerful force crashed through the Frostbane Sword, sending him flying dozens of meters—he even spun midair before stabilizing himself.
His chest heaved slightly—he’d only put about seventy percent of his strength into that sword strike, while the elder, desperate to save his comrade, had gone all out with full force. Evan Lin was at a disadvantage in terms of raw power, but even so, he wasn’t hurt. Within a few breaths, his surging blood settled down.
The silver-haired elder was also blasted back more than ten steps by the rebound before he could steady himself. His arm throbbed, almost numb, as if he could barely hold onto his sword. He was stunned by the terrifying power this unfamiliar youth could wield.
Just then, the red-robed elder and another middle-aged man flew up to join the silver-haired elder. “Elder, this kid’s strength is no joke. He’s at least mid or maybe even late Da Luo Golden Immortal. It’s really not normal for someone like this to stir up trouble in Coldriver City.”
“City Lord, you might be underestimating him. This kid’s combat power is about early Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal Realm. Otherwise, our guest expert wouldn’t have died by his hand, not even his Immortal Infant escaped. We can’t afford to be careless—if needed, we should join forces and kill him together.” The silver-haired elder warned.
“Elder, you’re overreacting. You’re a mid Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal Realm expert—so what if he’s at early Ninth-Heaven? There’s a world of difference between early and mid stage. A mid Ninth-Heaven expert could handle three early-stage opponents at once. Why should we bother?” the red-robed elder scoffed.
“How about I test this kid’s strength myself? If things go south, you two should immediately help surround him. I have a feeling he’s not simple—whoever comes here with ill intent is no friend. We can’t let our guard down.” said the middle-aged man next to the red-robed elder.
All three turned to stare at Evan Lin, and Evan Lin sized them up too. He could sense that all three were Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal Realm experts. It was his first time fighting such powerful foes—and three at once. He couldn’t help feeling a spark of excitement.
The middle-aged man flashed forward, stopping a dozen meters in front of Evan Lin. “Kid, who the hell are you? Why are you causing trouble in Coldriver City? If you tell the truth, maybe I’ll let you keep your corpse intact. Otherwise—” The man didn’t even finish his threat before Evan Lin cut him off.
“Otherwise I’ll die a miserable death, right? You think I’m scared? Show me what you’ve got—if you don’t, you’ll regret it when you die.” Evan Lin grinned.
Now, everyone in Coldriver City was staring up at the figures in the sky. This was the biggest commotion the city had seen in centuries. Everyone was guessing who the white-robed youth could be, and why he was making such a scene in Coldriver City.
Evan Lin’s words made the middle-aged man snap. “Since you’re so arrogant, today I’ll show you there’s always a higher sky and stronger men!” He whipped out a massive black saber, its blade gleaming with dark light and intricate patterns—a true treasure blade.
Evan Lin knew his opponent was a Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortal Realm expert—far beyond any Da Luo Golden Immortal. He instantly wrapped himself in earth-element power, then flashed forward to seize the initiative, unleashing Star-Cleave at top speed. The sword-qi exploded outward, covering dozens of meters; the whole area was filled with phantoms of Evan Lin’s sword-qi.
As Evan Lin unleashed Star-Cleave, the middle-aged man vanished from his original spot and reappeared a hundred meters away. He swung his massive black saber with all his might, summoning a huge blade-gang that filled the air—just as vast as Evan’s sword-qi. In an instant, sword-qi and blade-gang collided head-on.
The impact was earth-shattering. Though the spectators on the ground weren’t struck directly, the entire space above Coldriver City shook violently, as if a spatial black hole might tear open. Everyone in the air felt unstable, on the verge of being swept away.
Boom! A thunderous crash erupted in midair, unleashing countless energy storms that swept across the sky above Coldriver City. Tall buildings and trees were obliterated in a matter of breaths, reduced to dust by the shockwaves.
Both Evan Lin and the middle-aged man were blasted back by the force of the collision. But in that instant, as they were sent flying, Evan Lin’s Frostbane Sword shot from his hand, streaking straight toward the tumbling middle-aged man…
