Terrifying Seventh-Rank Demonic Beast

1/19/2026

Evan Chu was running alongside Lily Tang, Gabe Goldstone, Sterling Yates, and a few others. Honestly, he was still pretty pumped to see Gabe Goldstone again, but right now, things were way too tense for old reunions.

Evan surged forward with Wave-Skimming Steps, moving way faster than most. He wasn’t worried about his own safety—he could always bail with Shiftstep if things got dicey. But the others? That was another story. He kept just enough distance to swoop in and save them if things went south.

Soon Evan caught up to the youth who’d given him that heads-up earlier. The guy was about his age, with a cool, easy vibe. Since he’d warned Evan, Evan couldn’t help feeling a bit of respect for him.

He called out, "How’d you guys end up pissing off a sixth-rank beast? What is it, anyway?"

But before the kid could answer, a deafening roar split the air. A massive shadow swept overhead—the sky seemed to darken as a gigantic Golden Demon Roc burst out from the forest. This thing wasn’t just big; it was monstrous, easily over ten meters long, with a wingspan that had to be more than twenty.

The roc dove, its claws snatching up several slower students in an instant. Screams for help echoed through the chaos as the beast tore through the crowd.

Facing a sixth-rank flying monster like this, students with only ninth-layer Mystic Warrior Realm or first-layer Earth Martial Realm cultivation didn’t stand a chance. Against its power, all they could do was die.

Damn, this flying beast is huge! Seriously, what the hell is with my luck—first that giant serpent, now this? The Golden Demon Roc is even bigger, and if it’s really sixth-rank, I bet it’s close to seventh! If this thing goes berserk, we’re all dead meat.

The roc hovered above, radiating a terrifying aura like it was ready to tear everyone apart. Its shrill cry stabbed at our ears, nearly rupturing our eardrums.

"Bro, what are you waiting for? Run!" the youth shouted at Evan. Right now, only he and Evan were keeping pace at the very front, with Rhea Yang, Lily Tang, Sterling Yates, and Gabe Goldstone trailing behind.
