Early the next morning, the sun did not appear. The sky was shrouded in heavy clouds. Weather like this was nothing unusual here—in this world, I had never seen rain.
It was already morning, yet the sky remained black, as if a violent storm could break at any moment. I walked up to the third floor, stood at the doorway, and knocked. I was worried about Rachel Lan.
"Come in."
Sylvia Blue's voice came from inside. I pushed open the door and immediately turned my head away in embarrassment—Rachel Lan hadn't gotten up yet. She was curled up, and Sylvia was holding her, both naked except for a blanket. Their clothes were neatly folded to the side.
"How is she?"
I spoke, then turned and left the room, closing the door behind me.
"Not good."
Sylvia gave a simple answer. I was worried, but could only wait. There was a rustling sound from inside.
"It's fine now."
I turned my head. Sylvia grinned mischievously, and I quickly walked over.
"If you do this again, I..."
"Alright, I get it."
Rachel Lan's body was still burning hot. Sylvia crouched beside a metal box, wrung out a damp towel, and placed it on Rachel's forehead. Her pale skin was tinged with red, her temperature abnormally high.
"Roxie is from the Hades Circle. She should be fine, right?"
I said, voicing the only hope I could think of. If she were an ordinary person, she'd have been sent to the hospital long ago.
"Even someone from the Hades Circle isn't immune. The bond between soul and body isn't as strong as you think. Right now, it's probably not even half intact—that's why she's like this."
Panic welled up inside me. I crouched next to Rachel Lan while Sylvia began gathering her clothes.
"Let's go. If we find Entity 004 soon, maybe there's a way to help."
I nodded and carefully lifted Rachel Lan from the bed.
After a while, led by the Spirit Snake, we left the house. I carried Rachel Lan, who was wrapped in a blanket.
