So Cute When Jealous
"Don't you know our General's temperament by now? He's the type to swallow his pain and never show weakness in front of others," Louis Lin said, clutching his chest dramatically. "He suffered internal injuries! That's why you probably didn't notice anything was wrong."
Grace looked at him, half believing, half doubting.
His haggard appearance and anxious eyes didn't look fake at all.
But earlier, when she saw Evan Xiao outside the window, he didn't look like someone seriously ill, did he?
"Miss Grace, that story about escorting the princess—I totally made that up!" Louis Lin added. "If you ask Princess Xinyao about it, you'll know the truth right away."
Well, that part she could definitely verify.
Grace frowned. Was it really just a coincidence?
Seeing Grace's expression soften a little, Louis Lin amped up his performance: "Miss Grace, the General was doing much better after treatment, but just now—out of nowhere—he got worse! The doctor said he might not make it! I came to find you because you're a medical genius. Maybe you can save him—uh..."
Louis Lin was getting emotional, but before he could finish, Grace suddenly vanished in a blur.
Louis Lin stared blankly for a moment, then grinned foolishly. "Wow, she sure can run fast..."
Grace grabbed a hat with a black veil and dashed out, galloping straight to the General's Manor.
At the gate, she lifted her veil to show her face, and they let her in right away.
She headed straight for the Frostmoon Quarters and ran into Lily.
"Hey! Little Fish?" Lily called out in surprise and delight.
"Where's the General?"
"In his room—"
Before Lily could finish, Grace disappeared in a blur again.
"Changing clothes," Lily muttered, still dazed.
Grace slammed open the door to the inner room—then froze.
She saw Evan Xiao taking off the last piece of clothing, his upper body bare.
When she suddenly appeared at the door, he just stood there, staring at her without moving.
Grace walked in and grabbed his wrist to check his pulse.
His pulse was strong and steady—couldn't be healthier!
"Louis Lin said you were dying!" Grace was a bit out of breath from running. "Did you tell him to trick me into coming?"
Evan Xiao: "No."
"Then I'll go settle the score with him!" She turned to leave.
But how could she leave so easily?
The door slammed shut with a bang, and Grace lost her balance—falling right into his arms.
"Let go of me! Prince Consort!" Grace glared at him.
Evan Xiao's lips curved into a smile. "You're really cute when you're jealous."
"Who's jealous? Let go!"
Evan Xiao looked down at her. "I told you, I'll break off this engagement."
He looked like this—tall and strong, half undressed, his long black hair loose, a faint smile at his lips. Honestly, he was dangerously attractive.
Grace blushed uncontrollably and turned away. "Whether you do or not, what's it got to do with me?"
Evan Xiao pinched her chin, making her look at him. "Also, about the forest—I left first for a reason. Louis Lin was just making things up."
"Do I have 'gullible' written on my face?"
"No, your face only says... 'jealous.'"
Grace's face turned even redder. "I am NOT jealous!"
Evan Xiao smiled, gently patted her head, and said in a low voice, "Don't worry. I won't marry anyone but you."
