Is He Lin

"Why isn't he here yet? How much longer is he going to take?"

The woman stood there, checked the time, and spoke with obvious impatience: "Someone who can't even pass a Nightstar assessment, acting all high and mighty—it's honestly laughable!"

"So this is how the Su family treats their guests? Always keeping people waiting?"

As she spoke, she kept glancing at the door, but no one ever showed up.

"Uh... Instructor Lin should be here soon. Really, it won't be much longer. He's always been a free spirit—does things his own way. We'll just have to wait a bit."

Eldest Brother Su looked at the woman, clearly uncomfortable.

Even Sam Su, normally so proud, didn't dare act out—he kept quiet, not risking any pointless words now.

"Night Sparrow, there's no need to rush. Whoever's coming will come."

The middle-aged man sitting nearby shook his head, then turned to Eldest Brother Su: "I heard you made quite a splash in Yanjing this time."

"Looks like you'll be officially joining the military circles soon."

"Our visit this time is pretty sudden, so we didn't prepare much—just verbal congratulations for now."

The man smiled.

Eldest Brother Su nodded quickly when he heard this. "Thank you!"

"I just didn't expect you two would come all the way to Jinnan. If I'd known earlier, I would've made some preparations."

These two might not outrank the generals Eldest Brother Su is about to join,

but their identities are anything but ordinary.

Both of them are from Nightstar.

The woman, codename Night Sparrow, had gone straight to the Jinnan Military District when she first arrived, challenging everyone from Knife-Edge Company all the way up to Flying Eagle Company.

Even Flying Eagle's aces—Hawkeye Shen and Tiger Fang Wei Junxuan—couldn't last five moves against her. Her strength was downright terrifying.

The man was known by the codename Night Summer.

Within Nightstar, there are four inherited codenames: Night Spring, Night Summer, Night Autumn, and Night Winter.

They represent not just absolute strength, but also a special status within the organization.

Nightstar instructors!

To even get into Nightstar, you need at least fifth-grade Vajra cultivation.

On top of that, you need terrifying combat power and an iron will to fight.

But to be a Nightstar instructor, you need to be at least third-grade Vajra or above, and even then, only the best can compete.

These third-grade Vajras are way stronger than the regular ones.

They grow up under brutal conditions—almost every day is a life-or-death trial. Their combat experience leaves normal people in the dust!

In Nightstar, even the 'ordinary' members get absolute respect. Eldest Brother Su hasn’t even officially become a general yet, but even if he had, he’d still have to show respect to Nightstar people.

Nightstar is the nation’s shield—a machine built to protect the country. It’s not just strength, it’s the symbol of honor!

"No need to prepare anything."

Night Summer smiled lightly. "Honestly, just getting Instructor Lin to agree to meet is the best gift you could give us."

"The five-man Blade squad he trained is serving in the Tiger Special Forces now. I’ve seen their hand-to-hand skills—they’re impressive. Especially that Xu Fei, who looks like he might break into fifth-grade Vajra soon."

"If he keeps it up and earns some real merit in the Tiger unit, proves his worth, maybe soon I’ll consider recruiting him into Nightstar."

Hearing Night Summer’s words, Eldest Brother Su and the others were overjoyed.

No matter what, Xu Fei came up through Eldest Brother Su’s Knife-Edge Company. If he joins Nightstar, that’s nothing but good news for Eldest Brother Su’s future.

Plus, if Eldest Brother Su ever runs into trouble, maybe Xu Fei could help him out.

"Thank you so much!"

Eldest Brother Su gave Night Summer a deep, formal bow.

Just as they were talking—

Out of the corner of her eye, Night Sparrow spotted a teenager at the door: phone in hand, backpack slung over one shoulder, clothes a little sloppy, walking toward them.

"Yeah, I know. I'll work hard for the college entrance exams, don’t worry."

"Take care of yourself too. If anything comes up at home, just tell me."

"I’ll be careful too."

Evan Lin hung up, let out a heavy breath, and felt a headache coming on.

This time, Evan guessed right—Joy Zheng really had called him nonstop for a whole month.

Luckily, after Evan’s previous disappearances, plus Joy Zheng now understanding he’s not just an ordinary kid but 'Master Lin from Seacrest,' she didn’t stress too much about it.

Still, she couldn’t help but worry.

Over the phone, Joy Zheng gave Evan an earful, and all he could do was take the scolding quietly.

Then Joy Zheng switched the topic to Lynn Chen.

Apparently, Lynn had been calling Joy Zheng a lot lately, so her attitude toward Lynn was getting warmer. Plus, with the connection between Lynn and Lu Shu, Joy Zheng started hinting—sometimes openly, sometimes not—that Evan should find time to chat with Lynn more.

Evan could only laugh it off and dodge the subject.

"Just hope the college entrance exams end soon."

Evan slipped his phone into his pocket and glanced at the woman standing in front of him.

Night Sparrow’s gaze locked onto Evan. What surprised her was that this plain-looking kid didn’t seem nervous at all.

While Night Sparrow was still in shock, the kid strode right through the door like he owned the place.

"Instructor Lin, you’re here!"

Victor Su jumped up the moment Evan appeared, his face full of excitement.

"Long time no see!"

Eldest Brother Su looked at Evan, eyes full of gratitude.

"Boss! You’re finally back! You left without a word—I couldn’t even find you!" Sam Su was the most enthusiastic, striding right up to Evan with overflowing energy.

The look in his eyes was practically like seeing a savior.

If not for Evan, the Su family might’ve been stomped by the Lin clan in Jingzhou. Forget today’s good news about Victor Su joining the generals—none of it would’ve happened.

"I’m here. Whatever you need, just say it."

He casually tossed his backpack aside, dragged over a chair, and sat down.

Sam Su busied himself pouring tea and water for Evan, while Victor Su and Eldest Brother Su, sitting at the head of the table, didn’t mind Sam’s eager behavior at all—they didn’t think it was embarrassing in the slightest.

"Him?"

"Instructor Lin?"

Night Sparrow stared at Evan, eyes wide.
