The lotus pond was pitch black. The palace guards searched here, shone their torches around for a bit, then quickly rushed off to check elsewhere.
As soon as they left, two lotus leaves stirred. Then the leaves parted, and two figures emerged from the water.
Ivy Shen looked at him without saying a word. The moment she saw his eyes, she felt a sense of déjà vu, but couldn’t recall where they’d met until he pulled off his mask—then everything clicked. He was the Second Prince of Chu!
"Long time no see!" He stared at her, eyes unblinking.
Hearing that, Ivy was momentarily stunned. "You know me?!"
It wasn’t strange that she recognized him—she’d seen his face before. Even though he’d been a mess back then and his features weren’t clear, she remembered his eyes perfectly. Plus, anyone moving this confidently inside the palace had to be someone familiar. So, the answer was obvious.
"How could I forget my savior?" he replied, making it clear he'd recognized her.
Seeing that, Ivy couldn’t help but smile. This guy had sharp eyes—if she remembered right, her makeup last time was totally different from today’s, and he still managed to recognize her. Gotta admit, that’s impressive.
"Your eyes made you unforgettable." He seemed to read her mind and spoke up first.
"Since you know I’m your savior, how do you plan to repay me?" Ivy raised an eyebrow, giving him a meaningful look.
