Evan Lin didn't hesitate for a second—he stomped straight down on Tyson Liu's other wrist.
"Ah!" Tyson's eyes bulged wide. This time, he couldn't hold it in—he howled in pain.
"Ants trying to shake a tree. Pathetic insects—you seriously think you can take me on?" Evan ground Tyson's hand beneath his foot, Tyson's wrist cracking with a sickening noise.
Tyson tried desperately to pull his hand free, but it was useless.
The two girls nearby turned pale, too terrified to make a sound.
Trevor Liu just stood there, at a complete loss, fists clenched tight. His eyes burned with deep resentment as he stared at Evan.
"I'll never let you off! If you've got guts, just kill me!" Tyson's eyes were bloodshot as he spat out the words through gritted teeth, glaring at Evan like he wanted to tear him apart.
"Annoying."
Evan lifted his foot and kicked Tyson square in the forehead.
Tyson flew backwards like a soccer ball, slammed into a table, and instantly lost consciousness—his body slumped to the side, limp and motionless.
"You—!"
Trevor was shaking all over, but didn’t dare step forward.
Evan slowly turned around, his gaze icy as he looked at Trevor. "Even if the Liu family’s patriarch came himself, so what?"
The next moment, Evan started walking toward Trevor.
Trevor’s face changed dramatically. He didn’t bother saying anything—he just turned and ran.
Right now, Trevor couldn’t even see Evan as a normal human being!
Faced with someone like that, Trevor couldn’t even muster the will to fight back.
Evan narrowed his eyes, grabbed a plastic clothes rack from nearby, and tossed it at Trevor.
The flimsy plastic rack shot out of Evan’s hand like a sharp blade, slicing through the air and slamming straight into Trevor’s calf.
"Ah!"
Trevor lost his balance; a jolt of numb pain shot through his right leg, and he crashed to the ground, rolling forward before finally stopping.
"Your brother begged me to kill him. Next time, I'll come to your house and help him get his wish." Evan walked up to Trevor, his head lowered, face utterly indifferent. "People like you, in my eyes, don’t even qualify as clowns."
"Go home and get ready for me." Evan gave Trevor one last look, then walked over to Lynn Chen, who was standing frozen. He spoke softly: "Come on, Aunt Lucy is waiting for us in the garage."
"Did you... did you kill someone?" Lynn's voice trembled as she stared at Tyson lying motionless on the ground, her face pale as a sheet. "No, this is bad—I have to call my dad!"
"Evan! You went way too far!" Lynn took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.
"Either you get beaten to death, or you beat him to death. Two choices, pick one—it's not that complicated." Evan looked at Lynn, his eyes deep, his voice calm and steady, not a hint of emotion.
More and more people gathered to watch, most of them looking at Evan with a mix of awe and fear.
"Is he one of those legendary martial arts masters?" someone whispered.
"Probably not. It's just a bunch of kids fighting—maybe that guy just gets into scraps a lot and has some strength," another guessed.
"Isn't this all just fighting over a girl? But man, that chick is gorgeous. At my old school, she’d be straight-up campus queen material." A short guy stared at Lynn, eyes shining with admiration.
"The one lying there is from the Liu family, right? This kid’s done for. No matter how good you are in a fight, what’s the use? I heard the Lius have some real martial arts masters." someone else chimed in quietly.
Lynn and Evan locked eyes. When she met Evan’s gaze—deep as the silent cosmos—she blanked out for a moment, her heart suddenly in chaos.
"You’ll never understand choices like this, because you’ve always been sheltered in the sunlight. Some things—it’s better you never have to touch them." Evan sighed quietly.
On the Immortal Martial Continent, strength is everything.
The strong are like dragons—everything else is just fodder. Life and death are decided in a heartbeat.
That’s the real law of the jungle—a world Lynn, a delicate flower raised in a greenhouse, could never comprehend.
Evan shook his head. "Come on, he’s not dead."
With that, Evan grabbed the still-stunned Lynn by the hand and turned to leave.
As Evan led Lynn through the crowd, everyone instinctively stepped aside to make way for him.
They watched Evan in silence, not daring to say a word—terrified of angering this teenager.
"Oh my god, he's so cool," one girl whispered to her best friend, unable to hold back.
"Any guy who fights for his girl is cool. If only I had a boyfriend like that," another girl said, eyes sparkling.
Heading toward the underground garage, Lynn finally snapped out of it and tried to pull away.
Evan let go of Lynn’s wrist and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"You were in real danger just now, you know? If you’d killed someone, not even my dad could save you—you’d end up in prison! If you went to jail, your mom would be heartbroken!" Lynn glared at Evan.
"So I should’ve just let him drag you off for dinner and a movie?" Evan raised an eyebrow. Lynn froze at his words.
Bottom line, Evan only stepped in because of Lynn.
If it weren’t for her, Evan honestly wouldn’t have bothered with those two ants.
"But you didn’t have to go that far!" Lynn’s tone softened a little, but as she remembered Evan chasing after Tyson and crushing his second hand, her voice got sharp again.
Evan frowned, said nothing, and couldn’t be bothered to argue with her.
Lynn gritted her teeth in frustration, but there was nothing she could do. Looking at Evan, she felt he was becoming more and more of a stranger.
Especially sometimes, the loneliness in Evan’s eyes made it seem like he lived in a completely different world.
She couldn’t even say when all this had started to change.
"What took you so long? Lynn, did you buy out the whole mall again? You’re such a handful every time we go shopping." Over by the car, Lucy Lu walked over, looking at Lynn with fond exasperation. "Made Evan wait ages for you again, huh?"
"No, I just... just spent a little too long trying on clothes." Lynn replied, then realized she’d forgotten to grab the clothes she wanted to buy.
All Evan’s fault!
Lynn stared at Evan in a daze, but he’d already opened the car door and climbed into the front seat without even glancing at her.
