Can You Let Go of My Waist

1/4/2026

Azure Flame and Damian Black hadn’t come downstairs—they were still in the room.

This was the perfect chance.

As long as he used the Swiftstride Shuttle, they’d have an eighty percent chance to escape.

Lily Bai’s heart was pounding.

She felt more excited than she’d ever been in her life.

But to her shock, Shawn Vaughn seemed not to see her at all, walking right past her and peering into the room.

“Shawn!” Lily whispered. “What are you doing?”

Only then did Shawn seem to notice her handkerchief, his face lighting up with sudden realization. “Where are they?” he asked.

“Who cares where they are! Let’s go!”

“Where do you think you’re going?” Damian Black suddenly appeared at her side.

Lily: “...”

“Form the array! Rescue her!” Shawn shouted.

The Longride Sect disciples scattered, forming up.

Several Longride disciples attacked Damian, while Shawn grabbed Lily and tried to run.

But those guys were no match for a monster like Damian.

Without even seeing him move, the Longride disciples attacking Damian all collapsed—some fainted, some were injured, and none could fight anymore.

Then, in a flash, he seized Lily, wrapped his arm around her waist, and flew up into the air.

Shawn’s Heavenly Sword, blazing with sharp blue light, stabbed at Damian—but hit only empty air.

Then he shouted up at the sky, “Demon Emperor! Release Lily Bai!”

“Yeah! Let Lily Bai go!” the other Longride disciples echoed.

Every cultivator in the inn was drawn outside, craning their necks to stare at the Demon Emperor and Lily Bai floating in midair, pointing and whispering, itching to get involved.

Some bold ones even rushed out to stand with the Longride disciples, ready to face the enemy together.

Just then, Azure Flame finished paying the bill, strolled out, and flicked Shawn Vaughn aside with a single finger.

“Senior Brother!” The Longride Sect disciples rushed over to him.

“She’s Azure Flame! Retreat!” Shawn yelled, whipping out the Swiftstride Shuttle. With a flash of light, the whole group vanished instantly.

Lily: “...”

She honestly wanted to cough up blood.

Can someone please tell her what was wrong with Shawn Vaughn today?

Was her handkerchief not obvious enough?

A white cloth with a goldfish, right in front of him—unless he was blind, how could he miss it?

It should’ve been a simple snatch-and-run, so how did it turn into a noisy mess that didn’t save her at all?

And she’d already told him it was the Demon Emperor and Azure Flame—why did he insist on picking a fight with them?

Wasn’t he afraid of getting killed?

"Are you wondering why Shawn’s rescue failed?" Damian asked.

Lily glared at him, eyes blazing: "Was it you? Did you sabotage it?"

Damian: "I didn’t."

Lily: "It had to be you!"

Damian: "He did it on purpose. He staged a failed rescue so the whole world would know I killed you."

"Bullshit!" Lily was so furious she started cursing. "Why would he do that?"

"You’re the Sigil Sect Young Master, the next sect leader. That way, it’ll stir up even more hatred in the Sigil Sect!" Azure Flame said. "Hasn’t the Divine Realm always wanted your sect to charge into the Tribulation Storm Array and die trying to break it?"

"You’re talking nonsense!" Lily snapped. "You really think people are that twisted? And Damian Black—can you let go of my waist?!"

Damian let go.

Lily dropped straight toward the ground.

Luckily, Azure Flame shifted back to her true form, caught Lily, shot skyward, and vanished in an instant.

Still shaken, Lily clung to Azure Flame’s back, glancing at Damian’s faint, infuriating smile. She wanted to—first boil him, then kill him!

Then boil him and kill him again!

But maybe Damian had brainwashed her, because the more Lily thought about it, the more she felt something was off with Shawn.
