Such Great Arrogance

2/14/2026

Tyler Tai and Lena Xu walked back together, chatting and laughing along the way.

Mia Liao followed beside them, occasionally chiming in. To outsiders, the group looked perfectly harmonious—except for the two men flanking Lena, who were so stiff and serious that they barely said a word.

Just like that, the whole group strode forward, making their way over.

"What, not planning to keep chatting over there a little longer?"

Martin Wu glanced at Mia Liao with zero respect in his eyes—if anything, there was a hint of mocking disdain. "Also, Mia, about my question from earlier—can you just give me a straight answer already?"

"You can't just keep covering for your fox friends and letting them scam people. There has to be a limit."

Martin's tone was ice-cold.

Obviously, this wasn't something Allen Ju had put him up to. Allen could make snap decisions about other things, but whenever it came to Mia, he was always hesitant, never decisive.

"Just because you want an answer, I have to give you one?"

Mia Liao shot Martin Wu a glare, one eyebrow raised, her face darkening with anger. "Martin, you're younger than me. I used to treat you like a little brother, but after just a few years apart, your skills haven't grown much, but you've sure gotten a lot bolder."

So, what kind of answer are you expecting from me? Were those words yours or Allen's? If they're his, he should tell me himself.

With those words, she made her stance clear.

Compared to her earlier evasiveness, Mia's words now were firm—almost as if she barely regarded Martin Wu at all.

After speaking, Mia glanced at Allen Ju, but didn't push him for an answer. Allen, caught by her gaze, lowered his head slightly, his face unreadable.

You know Allen would never say these things himself, but you insist he should. Isn't that just your way of avoiding the issue?

As for you treating me like a little brother, forget it. I don't need a sister like you.

All these years, you know exactly how much you've gained from Allen. I'm warning you—don't push it too far.

As he spoke, Martin Wu instinctively stepped forward, blocking her path.

Today, Martin was dead set on getting Allen Ju the answer he deserved.

Either Allen gets what he wants, or they cut things off for good.

From start to finish, Selina Wu held Evan Lin's wrist, standing a bit behind the crowd, quietly watching events unfold.

Evan glanced at her—Selina was composed, suggesting she'd already talked things over with Martin Wu.

Martin Wu, what kind of talk is that? Is that how you speak to my sister?

Kyle Liu's face changed. He lunged forward, mouth open, shouting fiercely, eyes wide as if he wanted to eat Martin Wu alive.

As he spoke, Kyle Liu shoved Martin Wu in front of him.

Anywhere else, Kyle Liu would never dare talk to Martin Wu like this—he'd risk a beating. But with Mia Liao and Allen Ju beside him, he found the nerve.

Kyle Liu pushed hard, but Martin Wu didn't budge. Instead, Kyle was jolted back a few steps, nearly falling—he looked rather embarrassed.

You dare lay a hand on me?

Kyle Liu steadied himself, mind racing, and immediately shouted back.

Classic case of the guilty party crying foul first.

Martin Wu shot Kyle Liu a sideways glance, not bothering to respond, then turned his attention back to Mia Liao.

Before he could continue.

Lena Xu had already stepped in front of Mia Liao.

What are you doing?

This has nothing to do with you. Best not to meddle in things that aren't your business.

Not my business?

So, a grown man bullying a woman is something to be proud of?

I heard you're with the Tiger Special Forces?

Lena Xu stared intently at Martin Wu.

When the Tiger Special Forces were first formed, Xu Shifeng played a major role. Over the years, the unit has cycled through many new faces, and most current members barely know the Xu family.

Lena Xu has spent years accompanying Ethan Xu, who isn't the showy type—aside from visiting different military districts to observe training and recommending promising recruits, he has few other interests.

Martin Wu had never met Lena Xu and had no idea who she was.

What does Tiger Special Forces have to do with you?

Martin Wu was starting to lose his temper.

Of course it matters, Martin. You still don't understand the situation, do you?

It's exactly because you're with Tiger Special Forces that my brother and Mia Liao keep putting up with you!

Otherwise, do you really think you could yell at my brother and Mia Liao just because of your status?

Tyson Tai spoke loudly.

Kyle Liu, still embarrassed from earlier, chimed in, and Charles Cheng nodded repeatedly.

Tyson, back in the courtyard, I already didn't like you. If you don't like me either, let's settle it with a fight!

Martin Wu turned and swept his gaze over Tyson Tai, Kyle Liu, and Charles Cheng, shouting angrily: "One thing at a time. The three of you come at me together—after I beat you, I'll keep pressing Mia Liao for an answer!"

No matter what, today there has to be a conclusion!

Martin Wu's shout made Tyson Tai and the others shrink back instinctively.

Such bravado, huh?

Tyler Tai stepped forward, eyes narrowed.

Gordon Guo kept quiet, not wanting trouble, while Sylvia Xia was visibly shaken by Martin Wu's display.

If anyone else wants to join in, make it four against one!

Martin Wu glared at Tyler Tai, flexing his fists until they crackled—his aura was overwhelming.

Leon Lu, Gloria Rong, and the others stood silent, watching coldly.

In pure combat terms, Tyler Tai and his side were no match.

If one Martin Wu wasn't enough, Leon Lu was a fourth-grade Vajra Realm expert—he could handle the rest.

Leon was famous in their circle for his Vajra Realm skill—while he wasn't a top-tier genius, he was more than enough for ordinary opponents.

Enough!

Lena Xu, face full of anger, glared hard at Martin Wu and snapped: "The Tiger Special Forces techniques were meant for enemies!"

And now you're using them against your own people?

You've got some nerve!
