"Falling into a coma technically doesn't count as death. So, the claim of death is invalid, and that means the other side's use of that artifact is basically nothing?" Evan Yang muttered after hearing this.
Of course, he was speaking to Cyril Xiao and Tanner Xiao.
At this moment, Cyril Xiao cursed outright, "Damn it, I'm going to argue with them!"
Evan was about to say something when there was a knock at the door. Despite the soundproofing, the noise directly on the door could still be heard. Still angry, Cyril Xiao walked over and opened it, seeing it was the butler knocking. He asked, "What's going on?"
"Master, people from the Santos Family and the Lynn Family have arrived," the butler replied.
When Cyril Xiao heard it was the Santos Family, he cursed, "I was just about to argue with them, and now they've come to me!"
He stormed out angrily, with the butler following at his side. Seeing this, Evan Yang said to Tanner Xiao, "Looks like the Santos Family is your opponent, right?"
"Yeah, that's right. I want to get up and argue with them too." Tanner Xiao grew restless when he heard the Santos Family had come.
"Don't. Stay here, no matter what happens, don't come out. Wait for me." Evan Yang patted his shoulder. Tanner Xiao, puzzled, looked at Evan's departing gaze and felt a hint of fear.
Actually, Evan Yang didn't think well of the Santos Family. It was obvious their goal was to make Tanner Xiao fall into a coma. If not for Evan's intervention, Tanner would have been in real trouble. Evan hadn't been at the Shaw Family long, but he was close with Tanner, so he naturally wanted to help him.
Evan had just stepped into the main hall when he saw four people inside: the Lynn Family patriarch Landon Lynn, a visibly anxious Lexi Lynn, and two unfamiliar faces. Judging by their youthful arrogance and the way they ignored everyone, the newcomers must be from the Santos Family—the younger man, Kade Santos, and the middle-aged man beside him, Ronald Santos, who was busy explaining things.
Ronald Santos addressed the furious Cyril Xiao, "Brother Xiao, I'm truly sorry about what happened today, so I brought my son to apologize and offer this thousand-year spiritual herb. It should help your son recover."
Cyril Xiao had no intention of letting things go so easily. He cursed angrily, "Santos Family, you were ruthless today—using those kinds of tactics!"
"What tactics? He was just useless!" Kade Santos sneered.
That remark only fueled Cyril Xiao’s rage. He reached out to strike Kade Santos, but Landon Lynn quickly stepped in to block him. "Brother, don’t do this. Settle things calmly—it won’t help either side."
"Dad, why are you stopping me? I want to avenge Brother Tanner!" Lexi Lynn said, then tried to attack Kade Santos herself.
Kade Santos quickly retreated, and Ronald Santos stepped forward to block Lexi Lynn’s hand. "Please, Miss Lynn, calm your anger!"
Landon Lynn shot Cyril Xiao a meaningful look, as if to say something. Only then did Cyril withdraw his hand. "Santos Family, today’s matter isn’t over between us!"
"Brother Xiao, we've already apologized. If you're still dissatisfied, you can go complain to the Old Man of Northridge," Ronald Santos said, brushing off Lexi Lynn, then left with Kade Santos.
As they left, Kade Santos sneered, "Overestimating yourself. Serves you right."
Then he followed Ronald Santos out, leaving Cyril Xiao cursing in the main hall.
"Brother Lynn, why did you stop me?" Cyril Xiao asked impatiently once the two had gone.
"Brother, do you know why they came here?" Landon Lynn said to Cyril Xiao.
"To admit fault? Impossible, not with their attitude. Maybe they just wanted to see if Tanner was dead or alive?" Cyril Xiao hadn’t realized the real reason.
"They came to get beaten," Landon Lynn replied.
Cyril Xiao and Lexi Lynn looked at him in confusion.
Landon Lynn explained, "They wanted you to strike. If you did, you'd break the rules. You know what happens next, right?"
"Damn! Truly despicable! If you hadn’t shown up today, I’d have fallen right into their trap!" Cyril Xiao cursed, suddenly realizing.
"Be careful next time. Handle things through proper channels. Don’t act so impulsively. If you break the rules, you’ll lose your qualification. If you want to compete for that position, even I can’t help you then," Landon Lynn warned Cyril Xiao.
Lexi Lynn didn’t care about these complicated matters. She asked directly, "How’s Brother Tanner? Is he awake yet? Is he okay?"
